    • Checked into room only to receive a phone call 2 hrs later saying they had give us the wrong room. Told we would get a hospitality package for are inconvenience but just recieved a free drink instead. Then given a disabled room which is not what I had booked.

We had a couple of issues that were promptly dealt with (thank you) the breakfast was very good & views amazing.

The bed was ok, but pillows too soft. Had a poor nights sleep.

Lovely building - nice rooms and great breakfast

We arrived late and we were looking forward to room service in our room after a long journey. We were told there was no room service and kitchen closed - not even a sandwich was possible. We went to bed hungry!!

lovely hotel in a fantastic location.

Our room had an adjoining room which meant no protection from noise from neighbours through the adjoining door. Also loud water noises from floors above late at night

    Location

The wellness pool was shut only let us know on the day of arrival so was disappointed

    7AllisonPosted on: 2-8-2026

Very clean and helpful staff who gave clear information

I wasn’t allowed to access the online app as I’d booked 2 rooms and had no options presented to me. Links in emails also didn’t work. The £50/room deposit came as a surprise it hasn’t been charged (we didn’t buy anything though).,We arrived approx. 8.00pm on Friday night and found it almost impossible to park. We were visiting friends so was ok when we got back.

    The location

The bar was not open or restaurant due to staff sickness we were also nearly charged for the spa when we didn’t use it

    8MargiePosted on: 1-28-2026

Beautiful spot in the Lakes District - spacious and close to amenities in town

There appeared to have been recent change of ownership and decisions yet to be made on investing in upgrades

    9ParryPosted on: 1-26-2026

The room was beautifully presented and cosy, the staff were really helpful, and breakfast was included, with lots of options. The location in Bowness is excellent, and we had a really great time staying at the Ro.

The only negative is that the heating made quite a loud ticking noise for about half an hour in the middle of the night, and we had to try turning the fan off, so that kept us up for a little bit.

    8AnnPosted on: 1-26-2026

Nice location although the steep hill upto it is only for the fit people

Hot tub didnt work on the 2 days we had booked into the spa, breakfast was ok but the sausage and black pudding looked like it had been cremated! Although we did only have a standard room we had no view at all from our bedroom window apart from 2 slated roofs right outside the window and I mean in touching reach!

    9MayerPosted on: 1-25-2026

Staff were excellent and couldn't do enough for you. The bar area is very relaxing. The bedroom was very spacious. Stayed for two nights

Very picky but would have loved a bath instead of a shower, the mattress wasn't that comfy

    7CarlPosted on: 1-24-2026

Great location Good spa and pool

Walking up and down to get to our room

    7JasonPosted on: 1-23-2026

clean, warm and great view. Staff were good.

Paying for parking as a guest is not great as most all places you stay at that have parking don't charge as guest, and £15 for a few hours for the use of the pool is not value for money for me as it was not included in the price.

    8ShirleyPosted on: 1-19-2026

    Clean tidy

Floor boards in room where very creeky. Cupboard door that house fridge would not close as each was broken Being up the hill was very steep to walk up and down

Nothing as didn't stay there on the end

Subject: Formal Complaint & Refund Request – Unacceptable Room ConditionsDear Booking.com,I am writing to formally raise a complaint about the room I was allocated during my recent stay at [Hotel Name] on 10/9/2025.The room provided was completely unacceptable and unfit for any guest. It was cold, damp, and had a strong, musty smell. The bathroom had an unpleasant odour similar to a men’s urinal, making it unhygienic to use.In addition, there was an open window into an alcove that was full of pigeons – several were sitting directly on my window ledge. This made it impossible to imagine getting any sleep due to the noise and the unsanitary conditions.I refused the room on arrival but was not offered an alternative. The overall area of the hotel I experienced was tired and in need of refurbishment (with the exception of the bar area). As a result, I had no option but to book alternative accommodation at a cost of £209.00. I initially complained via Booking.com but have not received a response.I am therefore requesting a full refund for this booking. If this cannot be resolved promptly, I will be pursuing the matter with my credit card company under Section 75 for a chargeback.I look forward to your swift response.Kind regards,Gary Slater.
