    • The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We pre-booked dinner both nights, and they were proactive before our arrival to make sure we knew where to park and that our dinners were reserved. The hotel is truly dog friendly, as they had a welcome pack for our pup, and she was allowed in the bar and restaurant with us. We were able to enjoy walks on Dartmoor directly out of the hotel without needing to drive anywhere, which was a bonus for us. The restaurant decor was cosy and warm, and the beef cheek was a particular standout!
    • Clean good facilities wonderful food great location
    • Perfect stay to break up long journey to cornwall. Facilities, food, service were all exceptional.

    Cons -

    • Nothing really. On a road but noise minimal.
    • When checking in I had to wait at least 5 minutes for the young girl to acknowledge I was there, I can accept she may of been busy but a simple acknowledgement would have sufficed but instead she ignored me until she had finished. Thank God the rest of the staff had better customer service skills. Room was a little on the small side and felt very cramped. Strangely, when checking in the girl at reception selected a room key but changed for another when she confirmed I had used Booking.Com to book my stay.

Very good breakfast with a good choice of options.

Centrally located in village centre. Lovely bedroom with view of Dartmoor. Log fire in lounge. Very good breakfast.

Bedroom and bathroom showing signs of wear.

Room was very clean and tidy staff were always alert

    Noise from the road outside

Warm atmosphere, cosy lounge. Most staff very friendly.

Breakfast was paid for with the room. The dish I ordered was Inedible. Burnt, mushy, really horrid taste.

We love staying in The White Hart. Staff are so friendly, comfy rooms that are very clean. We have stayed in a variety of rooms and find them all excellent. The breakfast is delicious with a good selection to choose from. If you want to relax or visit the moors this is the place for you!

Breakfast staff were very good but staff at other parts of the hotel were surly and not very helpful. Some staff training in greeting customers and making them feel welcome is required. Also - if complaints are raised make sure you deal with them so that customers don't have to raise them again. Decent tea and coffee facilities and home made biscuits were a nice touch

Rooms are tired. Bedding was thin. The thermostatic control had been taken off the towel rail in the bathroom and on the first night of my stay the room was very cold. Room needed a vacuuming and the wardrobe was full of additional bedding - not all of which was clean. The seal on the shower did not prevent water pouring onto the floor

Fab shower!Room very clean!Pleasant,.relaxing place to stay and eat.Staff were polite.

Too much light from street coming in through the window with curtains shut - ideally need a blackout blind or shutters, both of which would also help reduce the infrequent road noise.Bathroom was spotless but could do with a bit of a refurb which would ideally include replacing the existing fan with a more efficient and quieter model.

Very quirky, beautiful and comfortable old building with welcoming and helpful staff.

No car park but the local car park was very close, directions to it was good and free over night.

Beautiful old property. Pleasant staff. Delicious meal , best steak pie !

Don’t like to be negative because it’s a lovely old pub but …. Hard unpleasant pillows ( have had a cricked neck ever since) poor quality duvet, bed not particularly comfortable ….

Great location and cosy Christmas atmosphere. Delicious breakfast.

It felt slightly understaffed at times meaning staff engagement wasn’t always 100%.

    10NidPosted on: 1-2-2026

Quality food and a good wine list. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of options Comfortable surroundings, well trained and helpful staff. Quiet and calm … We will be coming back

Good pub / hotel, good rooms, cosy ambience, friendly welcome.

The only slight disappointment was that we had booked dinner in the hotel for the Sunday night for our wedding anniversary, the menu was reduced because Sunday was carvery day, and by the time of our 7.30 booking all the roasts had been finished. Possibly the hotel should have ensured they had enough roasts available for residents of the hotel who had booked dinner. What was available on the menu provided a nice meal, but the choice was very limited.

The room was comfortable, the staff were lovely, the food was delicious, the decor was pretty, and it was a very relaxing holiday

    I loved it all
