- Amazing food, staff and overall pub / accomadation. Can't wait to go back.
- Nice welcome
Cons -
- Not the pub's fault, but the latch on the outside door was dropped by another guest leaving us outside in a blizzard. A better key system may be required.
- Few marks in the room but nothing major
- Dirty room, poor shower, stained bedding

Dirty room, poor shower, stained bedding
Great deal in a beautiful location.
Sofa bed was a bit hard but ok.
Very good little bungalow with its own kitchen and sitting area
Poor upkeep. Not cleaned to a high standard at all. Could be so so much better. Bed was noisy when turning in the night Toilet is basically on top of the radiator. Heating doesn’t come in until 8:30am
Locations and the building its self love the oldie feel to it.
Shower actually in our THE STAG room it was useless really was very poor .
Staff, drinks and the food
The room was very narrow.
The location was deep in the countryside, as we’d hoped. We loved the decor, it was sophisticated, tasteful and somewhat unusual. Everything was selected with great care, complementing the venerable age of the hotel. Our room was gorgeous, aesthetically pleasing, a real pleasure to spend the night there. The restaurant food (and breakfast) was good too. The staff were friendly and helpful. Returning!
The food was top quality, bar staff were exceptional. Beer was much cheaper than expected. Very welcoming young man on arrival showed us to our property. So quiet and clean air. First time for ages I’ve seen star constellations with my bare eyes as there was no light pollution.
Lovely cottage with amazing view. Spotlessly clean and nicely decorated. Comply bed.
Having a double bed rather than a King
The one bedroom apartment was excellent standard.
The outdoor area and terrace was looking sad, lots of weeds and the outdoor furniture was broken. Could easily be improved.
The location was lovely, hotel was quirky, car parking good , well kept bar
Storage in room could be better, also bathroom needs a shelf or two
Wide choice available for breakfast served by friendly staff. Evening meal on Saturday for the 6 of us was very good.
The cottage was lovely nice little garden to sit in. Location was great for Crich and other attractions. The ambience of a 16th century inn. Food was excellent and the breakfast kept you going all day. Well worth a visit. We are definitely going back later in the year. Great find.
Nothing at all.
That’s nice quite area no traffic most horse riding and walking and very warmer inside cos no fan cos weather is very warmer
Location was great lovely views . Staff really friendly and helpful. Great food . Nice cottage to stay with the dog
Unfortunately the bed was not very comfortable and we had no hot water for the shower
The old quaint building was fantastic with all the same original features. The staff were superb, friendly and very efficient.
The evening meal had a little too much salt added
View. Dog friendly. Delicious meal. Helpful staff.
The grounds are looking tired and uncared for. We stayed in a cottage. It looks lovely initially but things need fixing. We had no hot water in the morning as there was a problem with the boiler. The fridge needs defrosting and fixing.
The location is quite rural and scenic. The bar area was very pleasant - staff and locals. Lots of free parking spaces.
The pictures on the website do no reflect what we experienced. Entrance not obvious, at the back of the building. Access to room was via steep stairs and the smell and signs of damp was overwhelming. The room itself had an old stylish bed but it was too big for the room. The radiator was very noisy and we needed to switch it off at night. The view from the window was obscured by roof tops. Most concerning was the bathroom, accessed on a lower mezzanine via steep steps with a single handle rail. The waste bin had not been emptied from the previous guests. This was over priced at £170 a night. We had dinner the one night we stayed. The breaded mushrooms although deep fried were still frozen in the middle. The caesar salad had deep fried breaded chicken which was quiet rubbery. Quantity over quality.
Interesting old Inn Good evening meal
The outside and cultivated areas need to be improved A couple of glitches with facilities discussed with management and positive response
