Pros +
- The authentic Art Deco construction and interior styling, the history of the place and outside areas. Seeing the biplanes taking off was an added bonus. It was also very close to the place where I was working, which was very convenient.
- Fantastic bar and restaurant
- Breakfast was excellent, location is interesting, retro decor is gorgeous.
Cons -
- The rooms are a bit dated, but clean and functional
- Deluxe room wasn't exactly deluxe, but it was clean and comfortable.
- The room faced the road and I could hear the traffic going by. I had 2 pints of Guinness which both were not poured correctly as they were below the harp logo

Deluxe room wasn't exactly deluxe, but it was clean and comfortable.
The location was ideal as I was on a business trip 3 miles away. The quality of the food when having an evening meal and breakfast was very good

The reception staff were extremely helpful. In fact, we were impressed by all the staff we came across. The room was very comfortable and the restaurant food was enjoyable.
Nothing to dislike.
A very quiet location in the Northants countryside . Excellent food, good value for money.
The lady serving the breakfast was so welcoming, she was rushed off her feet as I think the whole hotel turned up for breakfast at the same time and she was still very helpful with everyone. Also a big thank you to the breakfast chief. In all that rush , she still somehow did a fabulous breakfast.
Position of the hotel was lovely with great views . Nice Art Deco decoration
Rooms were meant to be art deco but unfortunately other things were old too. The curtains were tatty with rips. The information booklet said how to dial other rooms and reception. Needed updating. Great but there was no phone..I was told I had to go across the car park and talk to reception if I wanted anything. There were no extra pillows or blankets. No face flannels. The key card wouldn't work after 10 am even though check out was at 11am. Unfortunately my husband was really poorly that night. I mentioned this upon checking out. It might have been nice for her to at least asked after him..Severe lack of empathy .Infact I had to drive him to hospital where he was admitted. Although I paid for the breakfasts I only had croissant and yoghurt and my partner didn't have any because of him being ill so I can't comment on them.
Very good
window function and airing the room was not so easy, but its an old airforce school, so its manageable.
There is a quiet relaxed atmosphere in this hotel and dining room that suits me very well
The toilet bowls in the bedrooms are very low - difficult to use for persons with restricted mobility
Very friendly staff, amazing decor - both the Art Deco side, and the RAF memorablilia.Restaurant good value, had dinner and breakfast - good quality food.
Found this by chance online for my partner who loves planes, I’m surprised you don’t advertise more? Such. Cool place, will be back again!
The rooms were so warm! And very noisy throughout the evening with the windows open
The Hotel and Room was lovely. Very nice rooms and the bed was comfortable. The meal in the restaurant was excellent as were the staff.
Clean and comfortable rooms, powerful shower great breakfast.
TV in room tiny.
Decor, quiet, food good nice and hot, Free parking.
Floor creaky, television to small, smell in the main bar and restaurant area (old people s home)
Tea/coffee-making facilities are good. room clean and bed comfy.
The room was outdated with a tiny TV and only plugs available at the mirrors, none near the bedside. The bathroom had a not-so-nice smell. On arrival, both windows were left open, so the room was cold, and this happened again the following day after cleaning.
As always the food was abundant and well cooked, the staff were great and gave a welcoming vibe. I asked for a room away from the road and got it, no complaints from me at all.
Lovely ArtdecoBuilding with friendly staff and clean room
Had trouble getting shower getting hot
Art Deco totally authentic, and the whole place scrupulously clean though the room was basic (in keeping with the era) As a private pilot & former user of Sywell aerodrome, my gut reaction was to avoid the place due to the BS factor. That is the reason I've ticked the box asking if it came up to my expectations. Spoiler: it did :(
They demanded £100 'security/damage' deposit. No mention of this anywhere on booking.com small print, however my attention has since been drawn to mention of it in their confirmation email, sent AFTER we'd been forced to pay up front. We're now told we have to wait 30 days for its return and 'it has nothing to do with them, its banking I have to raise it with'. Their MD says this is 'normal practise' with most hotels. Well I'm here 'sir' to tell you different as a frequent patron of 4 & 5 star hotels the length & breadth of the country. Sharp practice imao. (Interestingly the reception guy conceded that 'quite a few' guests had expressed similar discontent; pity they didn't speak out) My advice is to AVOID this place.UPDATE November 1st: It took a FULL MONTH before our money was refunded. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. #racket
Excellent staff
Ran out of cooked breakfast ingredients - had to wait for more to be cooked.Noise from immediate industrial estate nearby ALL NIGHT!Noise from guests congregating and talking outside bedrooms at 1am. Too hot - bearing in mind it’s November.
