- The price , it was fairly cheao
- Very central location for us. Very good value
- Very good value and good location for what we needed
Cons -
- The place is in need of a desperate refurbishment. My room was opposite the very loud bar/ restaurant
- The hotel was being refurbished so there was a lot of work and noise going on during the day. A lot of corridors were sectioned off and people were getting lost, but it is a very large hotel. The room i was in needed updating which is probably going to be done some time. Otherwise what was available was comfortable and clean. Staff were helpful and friendly.
- Everything would of been prefect however it started poor, took over half an hour to check in as the receptionist was no where to be seen.

Very good value and good location for what we needed
Had two rooms - one refurbished which was fine and comfy, the second was old and very poor with a more than worn bed.Whole stay , though, was ruined by the start of refurbishment work in the room next door that started at 7:30am which in my book is unacceptable.
Nice breakfast, choice of cooked breakfast, cereals and toast, also some cakes. Juices and a coffee machine. Nice quiet atmosphere, plenty of room, no hassle. Staff were very helpful. Visited in February so it was a quiet season.

Staff was friendly, hotel was clean

Bad
The room was awful. Black mould in bathroom, bed extremely uncomfortable full of springs and disgusting stains. The room smelt of damp. Very dusty and dirty. We arrived at around 9pm on the Wednesday and checked out before 9am as they began drilling in the room above us.
The hotel was in a great location for what we needed. The restaurant staff and food were excellent.Car parking was good - free on a weekend. Loved the fact there was iron and ironing board in room as well as tea/coffee facilities.
Although we appreciate the hotel is currently being refurbished we stayed in an already upgraded room at the back. The room was modern, clean and tidy however the windows were terrible. We could hardly see out of the windows due to condensation on the inside of the double glazing. Fortunately that meant we couldn’t see the back car park and bins however we did hear late night deposits into the bottle bins and early morning construction workers. In addition there was a loud tannoy which went off several times between 10.30pm and 6.15 am. There was no Wi-Fi in the room and no telephone to contact reception. Although not wanting to sound pedantic I would say that the new black out blinds look great but unfortunately light comes in at the sides so if you need a darkened room to sleep they aren’t great.
There was free parking
No one on reception. Appalling smell, expensive rooms and the breakfast was the worst I have ever eaten.
Very nice and will stop again
Rooms staff and restaurant and food
We were put in a room that they say needed upgrading. The sink did not drain and the bathroom was grubby. I told the receptionist the room was not acceptable and the next guests they put in that room may not be as tolerant as us. It was noisy
Staff helpful
The hotel was a half building site, Our 1st room had no hot water/ 2nd room no heating/3rd room bathroom badly worn down! etc
Shower was hot and powerful
It was dirty and smelt of rotting food. The reception staff were rude and unhelpful. When checking in I only had my payment method on my phone. The receptionist said she could not check me in without a physical card and offered no alternatives or solutions.
Location was great we stay here a lot of times each year staff are friendly
The distance from entrance to the room you want a taxi and the place is under renovation very very strong smell of paint
The only great outcome of the stay was the shower.
The hotel is dated, breakfast felt it was cooked the day before. Tv did not work either.
The entrance and the overall location of the hotel.
Room and bathroom interiors are very outdated. The carpet was dirty and furniture outdated. Some of the reception staff was very rude. They did not even have dental kit when asked. Water was not provided in the room. Had to order it from outside.
The location of this hotel is excellent for Shirley and Solihull and the surrounding areas.A lot of car parking space. All the staff were very pleasant.
The room we were put in, which was supposed to be a recently refurbished room, was freezing cold and the heater had been left off. There was condensation pouring down the windows and it wasn't at all inviting. We decided to ask if we could be shifted, the staff were happy to do this for us. The second room we had, although a lot older was a lot warmer and welcoming. However, this room clearly needed an upgrade too.The Breakfast was average. We understand that this Hotel is in the middle of being refurbished. We're hoping that when it's finished it will be a lot better, as it has potential to be a very nice hotel. If this happens, we would try it again.
Nil.
Got woken up at 8am by extremely loud building work, sounded like the building was collapsing, constant pounding which was not mentioned at all upon check in and booking. Because that wasn’t enough. I was staying alone and a male member of staff decided to walk into my room whilst I was in bed naked at 8am keeping in mind checkout is at 11!!!!!! completely unannounced no knock nothing. Would highly recommend staying away as when I was checking out, there was another vulnerable lady that experienced this too and she was staying by herself also. Seems like the male staff pray on females that are staying alone. Very unsettling and uncomfortable as I travel a lot and have never experienced this before.
Room itself was newly decorated so was nice & clean.
The room was cold & took a while to get warm. In the morning we had no hot water to have shower or wash.
newly decorated but not to a high standard
There's was no bulbs in the room and it was very far to get to horrible smell in the room like a dirty mop
