    Pros +

    • Lovely location, clean rooms and quiet.
    • Lovely hotel, beautiful location, exceptional staff who went above and beyond. From accommodating an early check in and helping my wife with the luggage, all the way to our onward travel related early check out, the staff did everything they could to make us feel welcome and help where needed. We couldn’t have asked for more. Great breakfast (thank you again for organising a breakfast to go!) and drinks selection at the bar, too. The hospitality at Nailcote Hall absolutely stood out. While this stay was just for one night, next time we’ll be back to make a weekend out of it.
    • Everything I needed was easily available. It was clean and the staff were lovely (welcoming).

    Cons -

    • Went to bar about 21:45 ordered drinks which were all good. Returned to bar about an hour later to be told it was closed - no last orders or time had been called. Bar person was still working stacking shelves and cleaning. Fair enough that it was quiet but why not let customers know that you are closing?

    • Reception is in the older building, sometimes a friendly face from reception would have been good in the modern building.

    9RodPosted on: 2-18-2026

    Comfortable clean. Spacious bedroom

Poor lighting in car park and big potholes. Room was cold on arrival. Radiator turned off.

Very clean and comfortable! Staff excellent!

The fact we had to leave!

Nice location, Nice looking old building. Lovely friendly staff.

They could definitely use a caretaker. Was all a little dishevelled on the maintenance side. Chipped paint. Shower seals a little grotty. Beds not properly linked together...

The location was nice and we enjoyed the jacuzzi

The room was freezing on arrival, we had to turn the heating on ourselves, windows were draughty and dusty with large cobwebs, they didn't keep out the sound of the trains going by, and were full of condensation.Carpet was full of stains, the bath had what looked like a burn mark in it and looked dirty. The shower screen had built up dirt around it. The kettle tray was the opposite side of the room to any plug sockets. We booked for Valentines weekend and were so disappointed in the room it put a dampner on the whole weekend. The room we had was not any that were advertised.

Clean. Good bedrooms if somewhat dated. Good value for money. Good pool, warm water

Swimming pool remarkably hard to find. No signs to get there. Facilities somewhat cheap in places. Eg the seating in the men’s shower area was bendy plastic. As we left the pool area, we spoke to a woman coming down the stairs also looking for the pool. We concurred it wasn’t the easiest to find. It was our first time there so all was new.Pot holes in car park no ideal.

Quaint hotel with friendly staff.Breakfast was good though having the buffet in reception was slightly odd.

The car park was terrible, potholes full of water and badly lit.Swimming pool changing room was too small and not clean though the pool was good.A room mains socket didn't work and a light bulb had failed. No USB charging points.

Character lovely setting and staff were helpful pleasant

    5JuliaPosted on: 2-11-2026

All staff were helpful polite and friendly, the room was a good size and the bed very comfortable.

The housekeeping was very poor. Room was dirty, dusty lamps, skirtings, an inch of dirt around all the carpet edges, carpet un vacuumed, floor of wardrobe very dusty. Large hair in bath. General decor is very dated. Wouldn’t be a problem if it had been clean.

The lady at check in was excellent. We had a problem with our room (broken window latch) she found another room for us and sorted it all out. She was delightful.

The shouty waitress at breakfast who argued about the coffee. If you ask for instant it's because you want instant. Breakfast advertised as starting at 8am but the croissants and other cooked items aren't ready until 8.45.The guy on checkout who took my room cards and barely grunted. A "how was your stay?" Is always a nice touch. Finally the bad drain smell first thing in the morning. It wasn't there during the night but the smell was overpowering while trying to use the shower.

    9BarryPosted on: 2-9-2026

    Nice relaxing stay.

When breakfast served by waiter there was only one what ever you choose given, and half a piece of black pudding. Then it changed to buffet style which was much better and quicker.Swimming pool surround could do with revamp + mens changing rooms.

Staff were good, a quite location, food was good (appart from sandwichs which were very poor) room was a good size

The drive is a discrace! Pot holes everwere and a very bad firat impression, the hotel needs some TLC, in many areas

    7AndrewPosted on: 2-5-2026

    Good location for the NEC

Staff were smoking downstairs outside our room in the morning, this was mentioned to the receptionist on checkout but it seemed to fall on deaf ears

    8ChrisPosted on: 2-5-2026

Location and the room was really good. Food was exceptional.

The spa facilities were very tired and in need of renovation

    9JaninaPosted on: 2-5-2026

Lovely old country house hotel away from the built up areas but within easy driving distance of Birmingham NEC, airport and motorways. The house was very charming with lots of character and a cosy feel. We really like that the en suite still offers a bath tub and not just a shower. The evening meal offered a good selection of Sunday roast dinners which were delicious and very generous portions. Restaurant staff were particularly attentive, friendly and courteous. Sadly we didn't get opportunity to try the spa facilities during our short stay but they looked fabulous.

Just a couple of things that could be improved upon. The drive and gravel car park are rough. This could be a result of poor winter weather conditions but the potholes need filling and levelling to make driving easier. Our room was lovely but overcrowded with redundant furniture for the space. The extra pieces were surplus to requirements and made the room clumsy to navigate and the few plug sockets hard to reach. There are no regular plug sockets near the bed making it inconvenient for anyone needing access to electricity for a CPAP machine.

Wonderful historic building. Great bar area and conference facility in the pavilion.

Had to walk outside to get to my room in the cold and dark. Not nice for a woman in her own after dinner. My room was cold and the lights flickered. Felt like the rooms in the outer building could do with some attention. The lighting in the terrace dining area was soulless and provided no atmosphere. The food was very nice and the bar area was much better for sitting and socialising. Staff were lovely.

Delightful room. Old fashioned in a good way, with superb shower and comfortable bed
