- So happy to have found this gem of a gastropub - we can't recommend it highly enough and will definitely be back. Our short break, a birthday treat for my husband, was faultless, over and above all expectations - the comfort and cleanliness of our stylish room, the staff who just couldn't have done more to make us feel happy and at home, the beautiful location - peaceful with gorgeous countryside views. But the food, and wine, and the pub ambience ... there are no words to do it full justice. Exquisite traditional fare with a modern twist, locally sourced ingredients, hearty portions, all paired with excellent wines and served up with a lot of love and care. The owners and management have much to be proud of here.

Beautiful room. Helpful staff
Breakfast is too late for business stay. Would prefer the continental out so you can choose.
Beautiful hotel and great food , drink and service
All great . Extremely good staff and room .A bit pricey would be my only comment… but nothing at this property to really complain about out.Would stat again and have done several times already!
Pricey, but lovely
The room was attractive & well equipped. We had 2 dinners in house & the food was very good.
Service lacked charm. Check-in felt like an inconvenience & customer-facing staff seemed young & inexperienced. There was no one around that we could identify as management. I appreciate that the Christmas period is a busy time of year in hospitality but when you pay a festive period premium you expect the service to match.Breakfasts were OK but breakfast buffet table lacked the products listed on the menu & our hot breakfast was fogotten one day (other guests had come & gone in the meantime). My Booking.com confirmation stated that I had booked a room with a terrace & an extra large double bed (181 -210 cm wide). We didn't get a terrace (not a big deal in winter & we don't smoke) but the bed in room 10 was only 160cm wide. I didn't notice until after we'd unpacked (I was travelling with a tape measure for other reasons). With the poor greeting on arrival I didn't have the will to walk back to main building to address this point. Meeting expectations on bed size is important! Other minor niggles but these were main points. At no point did anyone ask if we'd had a good stay/or ask for feedback
Very quiet room and very comfortable large bed.Proper Gastro Pub with roomsVery dog friendly Amazing quality of food- we had dinner and breakfast
Helpful pleasant staff, nice bar and atmosphere in the pub, good food (evening meal and breakfast). Some great wines.
We stayed in room 5. Strange musty smell in bathroom. Might have mistaken it for stale cigarette smoke but was almost certainly a damp problem - interior of cupboard beneath bathroom sink was mouldy and contained a tell tale moisture trap dehumidifier inside. This needs attention. Mattress was not the best - springy with lack of support; it sunk badly at the edges and offered little support. I suspect it was cheap and not terribly new. I wonder if I was staying in the same room as jo_999000 who wrote the Trip Advisor Report in November 25. (Check it out). These are important issues that need attention. No point in the lovely interior design and Bamford products without getting the basics right. Could this room be a rogue anomaly? I hope so!
Has a great pub and restaurant. Decent sized rooms, modern and comfortable. Staff dealt with the room problem very quickly. Good communication from the manager about potential problems with supply of breakfast should transport be affected by the storm/snow.
Unfortunately there was a problem with my shower which failed to work and the heating system seemed to be stuck. Room was a bit noisy from heating or fan system above. Cane strips surrounding the mirrors in both rooms unsightly from woodworm damage.
Rooms always comfortable. Food was good, but not all great as it has been on previous visits.
Staff seemed too busy to properly engage.
Breakfast was very good, dinner menu ok but lacked menu choice and the food was just ok. King bed (for the price) should have been a super-king. Pillows were cheap and uncomfortable with no pillow protectors. Bathroom was ok but seals showed mould and certain areas required maintenance. Upon check-in we were asked twice to do a credit card scan which we found obtrusive and unwanted. The stay had been paid in full prior to our arrival and we wished to pay for any expenditures as we went but this seemed to annoy the venue. Its put us off returning

We love it here. The location. The staff. The service. The food. The fresh milk for your room and range of teas and coffees. The whole area. We will return.
For such a high end hotel the paintwork in our room was a little tired and scuffed in places
Beautifully decorated rooms and comfy beds, super clean, excellent breakfast and had gluten free items
Would have liked to have used the car chargers. Unfortunately some other inconsiderate guests who didn’t have electric cars had parked there. Might be useful for the management to put some cones or markings on the tarmac to show them as reserved for EVs only
Food was excellent , staff were great from as soon as we arrived, We hadnt booked a table for lunch but found us somewhere to sit. Rooms were beautiful and loved the milk in the fridge so much better than the UHT milk.
Couldnt get a drink at the bar after our meal, only one member of staff on doing cocktails so we gave up and went to bed. Felt a little like we needed to leave the table but bar was very busy.
Beautiful room, great facilities. Lovely Gastro pub. Happily recommend.
Lovely warm and comfortable place to stay. Great dinner in the pub with friendly staff and log fires
Fantastic rooms, lovely staff, great food in a very comfortable pub setting
Nothing it was perfect
Excellent staff, great food, comfortable room and a lovely pub/restaurant with roaring fires on a wet stormy night.
Appearance is lovely rooms well decorated. Nice pub/dining area
Smell in the room particularly the bathroom. Smelt like cigarette smoke. Told staff but couldn’t move so sprayed the room but the smell came back with a vengeance during the night of my stay. Mattress old and tired . Woke with a stiff sore back and could feel the springs digging in! Creaked and felt as though it sloped. Such a disappointment in a lovely decorated room
Beautifully decorated in a lovely location, and food was very good.
The breakfast times are very late, 8am in the week, 8:30am at weekends. This meant if you wanted to be up and out early, like most active people do, then you missed the breakfast. We paid for bed and breakfast, but didn’t get the breakfast either morning of our stay, and had to buy our own elsewhere. The room was lovely, but the aircon/heating was ineffective and the room was either too hot or too cold. The hairdryer in the room only blew out cold air and was completely pointless - I do expect those little things to be checked when the room is serviced.
