About
In the center of Uttoxeter, this beautiful Georgian building was once the town’s first bank and now offers free parking, a bar and 17 individually decorated rooms with attached bathroom. Originally built in 1777 for Thomas Hart, the Bank House Hotel has a great location, right in the heart of Uttoxeter’s town center. All that this charming Staffordshire market town has to offer is nearby and Uttoxeter Racecourse is within walking distance. Alton Towers is just a short drive away. The hotel maintains original features including a fine, unsupported oak staircase. We offer a full English breakfast each morning (except for Mondays) which is served in our lovely restaurant, which houses the original bank vault. Free private parking is available on site.

- Great place to stay for Uttoxeter Races, friendly staff and nice homely feel, lovely breakfast on New Year’s Day :-)
- Karen was friendly and welcoming. The guided tour inc the self supporting spiral staircase and the iron safe was very interesting.Having chosen to stay in an old building the uneven floors and odd room layouts was fully expected. The hotel car park was good and the location in the heart of the town was ideal for shops, the many pubs including a spoonies 2mins walk away and 3x chippies.!Evening meals were not available when we visited but there are more than enough eateries within a 3 min stroll. Breakfast is offered.

Cons -
- The church bells going through the night (might have just been because it was New Year?)
- Not so much didn't like, after all with the address of Church Street it could have been expected but the clock tower tells you every 1/4 hr the time in an audible fashion all through the night.. but with Spoonies medication, it's wasn't t a problem for me.
- Heating on full with no way of changing it. The radiator valves did not work and it was baking all night. No sleep.Floors and furniture creek on every movement

Beautiful old building lots of history on display,Great location and perfect for Alton Towers.Lovely staff.
I don’t really have a negative
Got last room in town (big horse race next day) at a fair price.
Small single room, but all I needed.
It's was so warm and welcoming and the staff were so attentive and friendly, we loved it ❤️ The breakfast was absolute amazing! Delicious, I'd have that every day! ? we will book again, thank you all the Williams!
Location to town centre was excellent, right on the door step to all the amenities.Staff couldn't be more helpful and my hubby said the ale was one of the best he had tasted for a long time.
I know the hotel is over 250 years old but could do with a fresh coat of paint and a little tlc.
Great location, and a grand old hotel.Everybody there was very helpful and accommodating.
Staff were absolutely wonderful. Made us feel so welcome and went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Breakfast was very yummy! Well done to amazing staff. Very quirky building.Obviously with it being a very old, listed building it has amazing features and is far from modern; if you're after decorated perfection with no originality then look elsewhere!
Our double room was quite small . Scuffs and marks on the walls, large cobweb near window and the shower was very basic and needed attention.
The shower grouting and scuff marks on walls
the hotel is in a prime location central to uttoxeter within the main town centre. which is a bonus
the location maybe central but directly opposite is St Mary's church. every quarter of an hour the church bells chime and on the hour ring out . no chance of sleeping unless your in a morgue.the breakfast although plentiful is poorly cooked and not worth the money.

Arrived here to stay for one night. Really bad on arrival, the place is very dated, damp and dirty. This hotel really needs a deep clean and refurbishment. The receptionist tried to charge me again despite paying through booking.com. I went to the room which was an absolute disgrace. Mould on the walls, the room had not been cleaned nor the beds changed. The hotel throughout looks tired; loose wallpaper, damp... I could not stay there at all. The atmosphere of the place was not good and felt dodgy in the day time, so how bad must it be at night? I explained this to the staff who were not really bothered but at least refunded breakfast. I was not expecting five stars but it is a basic task to ensure all the rooms are ready and cleaned before they're given to new guests.
The bed was very comfy and the breakfast was as good as any.
Early December and the room was cold until 7pm after the heating came on. The bathroom was in dire need of a refurbishment ( dirty grout, broken bath panel)
Old building, lots of character. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good beer!
The main stairs are very steep and no lift.
Great location, in centre of the town. Friendly staff. The room and bathroom was very clean. Bathroom was very nice.
The furniture and decor in the room was very dated and needs upgrading. Mattress very uncomfortable, definitely needs a new one.
Lovely Staff, great room
Carpets were worn in the public areas (stairs & Landing) should be replaced.
Breakfast was ok and the location was just what we wanted. All linen was spotless.
In need of some tlc and updating.

Breakfast let it down
Good location as close to the town centre and station.
This hotel clearly has period charm but the inside is very dated. Rooms are rattly and decor very poor. Beds not great and bathroom decidedly dated and musty. Needs a great deal of renovation to bring it up to a reasonable standard.
Great location in Uttoxeter. Breakfasts were superb and all the staff were kind and helpful.Historic building has charm and it was warm and comfortable. Secure parking for motorcycles with CCTV.
