Pros +
- Perfect location in town. Lovely large room. Great value for money.
- Breakfast - great. Evening meal - great. Service - great. Room - great but very dark even with the lights on. Bathroom - disappointing and very tired.
- Friendly staff. Lovely building. Nice food, good beers. Good base when working in Burton.
Cons -
- Not for everyone as very steep stairs to the rooms and no lift but will ask for a room on the lower floor next time. It's a beautiful old authentic old hotel and much nicer than modern hotels.
- Darkness of the bedroom and the very tired bathroom.
- Bulbs in bedroom could have been a bit brighter!

Darkness of the bedroom and the very tired bathroom.
Friendly staff. Lovely building. Nice food, good beers. Good base when working in Burton.
Bulbs in bedroom could have been a bit brighter!
The restaurant was good.
Needs updating and a good carpet cleaning. Was a different room we had booked.
The breakfast was very good and the menu had a variety of options to choose from. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble! The pub had a good atmosphere during the evening and was busy with food orders.
Even though the rooms were a nice size and there was plenty of room, some of the furniture was a bit outdated. The bathroom was a good size but I personally don't like shower curtains over the bath.
Stay included breakfast. After arrived told no cooked breakfast on Christmas day, so felt robbed and the continental was pathetic.Even the coffee was from a flask.
Seating inside was very good. Building was old and interesting.Food was excellent, and very reasonable.
All good
breakfast was good, room was fine
prices in the bar and for food were a little high
A revisit to my home town and a stay in a place we visited frequently as a family and was always a special evocative Tudor experience with lots of charm. The exterior remains as lovely today and the village of Tutbury
The rooms and bathrooms are very dated and very much need renovating. The restaurant has lost its boutique charm with a particularly officious and rude man on duty. The food was quite adequate
The location of the property and the gorgeous architecture and how the building has been preserved and stayed with the historical period of things
Not the property as much. Mainly the breakfast. We had ordered the full breakfast which was served to us cold. The avocado on the bloomer bread was off.
Lovely building. Great staff and a lovely breakfast.
Bathroom was a little dated
Beautiful 15th century building.Wonderful choice and menu at breakfast.
Trip hazard in bathroom, floor peeling away. Bathroom in general quite grubby. Bedroom carpet had obviously not been hoovered, bits everywhere. Would have expected room to be cleaner for price paid for one night. A little disappointed to be honest.
The Staff were very helpful and attentive .
The hotel was in a unkempt state overall and the room also .Our room was quite chilly and there was three steps down into the bathroom which was so cold because there was no heating on , the window was in a bad state and the bath also was in a poor state . The hot water tap was quite dangerous because as soon as you put the tap on the water was boiling that came out so would be quite bad if you had to run the water which we could not . Our breakfast was not as hot as a usual breakfast should be and we also found that our seating area was cut off from the main dining room which was very warm and cosy , all in all we found the stay to be not a very good one , which is unusual because we stay at different places but this is the first one we have ever stayed in where overall the whole experience was not good . I think it would be a bonus to you to send someone to stay there without saying why , and stay in the room we were in number 3 and see what you also think . I have enclosed two photos to show you the state of the bathroom and we found in the bedroom also the windows very cold as the bathroom , so for our stay on the 26th of December it was not a positive stay which is a shame.
Food was very good , room was spacious and the car park was very large. Staff were very efficient and friendly.
Rooms a little tired, and showers were weak. Not a fan of Greene King beer.
Staff location evening meal
Very tired furniture and facilities in bedrooms. Some missing light bulbs etc
Hotel with characer good location friendly staff nice rooms
Stayed many times, always good.Manager Mark always helpful.Value for money.Parking good.
