Pros +
- The included breakfast was good.
- the staff and the food
- The evening meals were very good The staff were very friendly.
Cons -
- When there is music on downstairs it's loud as there is no double glazing to minimise the noise. It stopped dead on 12.30 but people were allowed to stay around the courtyard for much longer, approximately 2.30am.
- Requested lower floor if possible and told maybe 12 steps. Given top floor room.
- Room was freezing. Appreciate wouldn't leave heating on all the time but they did know when I was checking in. One poor electric radiator to heat a very large room and bathroom is not adequate.

Great breakfast. Staff also very friendly.

Room and breakfast were fine.
There was no working wifi. No parking
Central location, luckily we had alternate place to leave the car which would otherwise be a problem.Room was a great size, clean and well furnished. Lovely bathroom. The breakfast was plentiful and tasty , with the bonus of the eggs being cooked on demand and not just sitting on a hot plate. Staff are all helpful and very friendly.
Not a thing/
Pub with rooms rather than a hotel..staff friendly but inexperienced.
TV's in rooms old and not good to use or navigate. Food was average. Mixed grill was more a big pile of chips. Salmon pasta was lacking sauce or flavourBreakfast.Watery orange juice and nescafe coffee sachets. You expect better these days. I asked for sunny side up eggs. they were fresh cooked but not as requested.
Lovely hotel, came for a wedding close by and was perfect for what we needed. We stayed on Easter weekend when there was live music. We didn’t get back until around the time the music was finishing but there was no issue with noise beyond that. Breakfast was exceptional! Bathroom was lovely and spacious, beds were very nice and comfy too. We would definitely stay again if we were ever in the area :)
Could hear creaking from upstairs slightly during night
The breakfast was good. Location was good. The "hotel" itself needs a complete refurb as it is very dated. comfortable bed and nice clean, crisp bed linen
communal areas need a good clean. constant knocking of the entrance door which kept us awake. no handle on the shower door, which my husband nearly got locked in to the shower cubicle
Room was clean
There was little to no staff to speak too and the ones we did see seemed uninterested, we only had 1 towel in our room. The room was roasting hot when we got into it. No one was there at breakfast to greet us. Although they did warn about disco going on until half 1 it was incredibly loud even in our room with the windows shut. So much so they even put ear plugs in the mugs in the room.
I’d read the reviews of the hotel and was a little apprehensive about what it might be like but it was convenient for where I was going and reasonably priced so I booked. When I arrived, the expected disco was on and was extremely loud in the bar however my room was on the second floor and all I could hear was a base drumming which actually I found quite restful. The room was perfect - clean sheets, comfy bed, clean bathroom, attractive cushions and decorations in the room nice chair and warm as toast. But if you need silence to sleep, don’t go there on a Friday night. Breakfast was really good because it was served from 7 am on a Saturday morning so I actually managed to have some breakfast which I often did don’t when I’m leaving early. It had everything you could think of and when I ask for some scrambled egg, the portion I was served would have fed three people I will go again
Spent 4 nights at The Crown. The staff were excellent. Friendly and efficient, they are the Crown Jewels! The room was comfortable but lacked the finishing touches, eg getting the grouting off the tiles in the bathroom. The shower had a dual personality, going hot and cold constantly. Proper coffee would greatly improve an already good breakfast. It was certainly good value for money, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay
It was clean and the food was good. Reasonable prices
Bed was comfortable and nice towels. Staff very friendly and helpful. Poor soundproofing heard doors closing all the time. Very dirty staircase and corridor doors. Tired furniture in room and shower door was broken and wouldn't close. No WiFi in room. Breakfast very average but nice sausages.
Breakfast
Soft uncomfortable beds Could feel the springs Disco downstairs both nights with the music pumping into our room and unable to sleep even with provided ear plugs until they closed
Convenient, in the centre of the town, friendly staff, room warm, comfortable and nicely decorated.
The shower was inadequate. No light in shower area and door was off the runner.
The location of the property was perfect, right in the centre of town, staff were polite and the room and bathroom clean.
The entrance outside of the property was dark, a little cluttered with picnic tables and the latch on the door wouldn’t secure properly without force. The room was cold to begin with and took a good couple of hours to heat up once the heating was switched on. I’d suggest to the staff to turn heating on prior to guests arriving. The bathroom was cold although the towel warmer was constantly on but I noticed that the sash windows didn’t close completely but recognise that this is an old property which may have restrictions on replacement windows. The furniture in the room had multiple scratches and could do with a refresh and the mattress was uncomfortable as the springs could be felt quite prominently. Lastly I didn’t see any WiFi provision but could have missed this and some noise can be heard from adjoining rooms but appreciated that ear plugs had been provided.
Location is good. Staff were friendly, breakfast was good
Wells were pre warned that there was a band on in the bar so we expected that, but we were right above the entrance door to the bar, music got louder every time it was opened, and it banged shut, also the lock on the room door didn't lock and a member of staff walked in on is in bed. Which is very worrying as we had a 5 year old son with us and valuables in the room.
The breakfast is really nice… great sausages
Sadly we had a small leak in the room, but the staff delt with it swiftly and professionally and gave us a replacement room
The hotel was very easy to locate. The staff were friendly but not altogether professional. The bed was very comfortable to lie on but not very breathable and I was hot in the night due to the matress. The bed knobs banged on the wall if you moved in bed. Room 4. The carpet was lovely and thick and the room was clean. The internet was a bit slow from my room but worked well in the bar/restaurant. The food was traditional pub food which was good but too much oil used. There was a good choice of meals. In the room was a food menu which was great but it would have been good if a wifi code was in there and the number for reception and how to work the radiator and the lock on the door as both were not standard. I liked the simple checkout in the morning.
