- We were greeted in a friendly manner as soon as we entered and was helped to our room. The room was made up on arrival. Had a kettle, glasses and had a lovely authentic feel to the room. Beds were comfy and had a tv and free wifi which is ++.We had dinner in the restaurant, the food was beautiful and were big portions. The pub was lovely, lots of Harry Potter around it which excited my family. Was a lovely hotel and would definitely stay again
Cons -
- The beds were very uncomfortable The food wasn’t great for the price The shower kept turning on and offWiFi was awful The rooms are very very hot
- Little areas of cleaning missed so a bit of dust in the bathroom. I do wish breakfast was slightly earlier as we didn't have time in the morning so we just took our own. Be mindful that when the toilet flushes there is a pumping noise for a while after and the rooms are right on top of the pub, so there is a bit of noise. But I wouldn't let this put you off.
- Poor WiFi and.TV stations didn't work

Location, staff and food all perfect
Poor WiFi and.TV stations didn't work
I loved how old and quirky it is. The floors are not level and you have to watch your head on low beams but it’s super cute.
We couldn’t regulate the heat in the room so it was a bit hot. We opened a window but people from the pub below would be smoking and the smoke would drift into the open window. Also there was a broken mirror on the door.
Location of the place ideal, the whole place could do with updating but all In all great stay We got breakfast in the morning I didn’t expect much but it was delicious and you get loads for what you pay we were full Wil definitely be back
Single bed position couldn’t see tv
Was very comfortable and cosy and the staff were very friendly and accommodating really enjoyed our stay perfect location for Harry Potter Studio’s
Steak was pricey but overall was brilliant food
Close to Harry Potter studios and 66 books Nice food
-Dirty bathroom -Doors don’t close-Single pane windows-Railway line is very frequent and loud although I understand that’s not their fault. -Paid £108 for 1 night. Could get a luxury hotel in Cardiff for the same price-Charged £10 for a single balloon when it was offered to me for girlfriend’s birthday with no mention of any charge it was added on it my £100 food bill -Uneven floors -kettle was full of limescale floating around even after boiling and changing water
The staff were so friendly and helpful and the rooms were quirky and historic; perfect for our visit to the Harry Potter film studios. The family suite was the perfect set up for us as a family of four but can accommodate six. The pub itself has some very old historic features and huge fireplaces. It was decorated for Christmas. We wished we’d got there earlier in the evening as the food looked really good but it was nice just having a drink and playing games by the fire. My child left something behind in the room and the staff went above and beyond returning it to us.
Breakfast service doesn’t start until 9am on Sundays, we had to leave before that. Shame as the menu looked really good! The emergency lighting in the rooms that’s on all night glowed a bit too brightly and disturbed one person’s sleep.
Great location in relation to the canal which I was walking along, nice evening meal was had in the restaurant attached to the property
No hot water in room but was resolved
Passable
When we arrived not working radiators, we could not close window, broken! In the morning not hot water, so could take the shower
Food was amazing! Freshly made! Absolutely love the hotel! Stayed here twice now and the rooms are huge, comfortable! Staff are so nice and helpful! 25minute walk to the train station an 9minute drive to Harry Potter studio’s!
Helpful staff, very cosy, plus a very substantial breakfast!
Nothing really
Almost nothing except the terrible noise from below did actually stop around 11.00pmEffective double glazing.
The car park whose surface was badly rutted, completely full and with piles of other stuff taking up space. The appalling noise from the event in the bar below. The fact that the 'en-suite' contained a bath/shower and WC but the washbasin was in the bedroom. Neither the bath nor washbasin had a plug (though one was produced when we asked) and the shower light did not work. Neither did the extractor fan in the bathroom though the wiring was dangerously exposed. When the loo was flushed a noisy thumping sound within the pipework started and lasted for probably about ten minutes. The only way of stopping it was by turning on a cold tap. The bathroom was constructed in a dreadfully amateur manner and very poor quality and grubby in places. The furniture in the bedroom was random and ill-suited for the room. On our second night it proved impossible to stream any programmes on the TV as the broadband connection was clearly inadequete. The walls were paper thin, so anyone walking down the adjacent corriddoor could be clearly heard and caused the floor to creak and, when closing a door, the whole place shook. The hanging rail for cloths was fastened to the wall above the bed. So if you wanted to hang a long coat or a dress on it, then you would have to spend the night with it brushing your face!
Location was great for Harry potter world
Bathroom was small and the noise from pulling the chain on toilet but for a old pub understandable bed so uncomfortable but when just to get your head down it was ok
Really lovely pub hotel, perfect location to get to the Warner Bros Studios, very easy to get an Uber there and back. The food was stunning. The staff were nothing but friendly and welcoming, we arrived a little before check in time, and this was not a problem. Our room was en suite, extremely clean and tidy. I loved that everything was a little old and wonky, really gave it a bit of a 'Leaky Cauldron' feeling.
The room we were in was very very warm, which meant we had to open the window in the night, with the trains going past it meant that I, as a very light sleeper, did not have the best sleep. But my husband slept just fine! The pub of course cannot help the trains but it'd be great to be able to control the temperature of the room a little better.
location for Heathrow Airport without the hotel expense. evening meal was lovely although a little restrictive on gluten free room clean although a little dated
wouldnt consider this for anything other than 1 overnight stay for Harry potter studio or 25 mins journey to Heathrow
All in all an nice stay. The lady from the hotel was super friendly and nice, since we went there for the Harry Potter Studio Tour she reminded us of Madam Rosmerta since she also served at the pub downstairs. We were to tired to go to the pub but the atmosphere seemed fun.
It was a very quirky building which was cute, all old beams and wobbly floors. The bed was incredibly comfortable, such a soft cosy mattress! We got an Uber from there to the Harry Potter Studios which was easy, and the arrived quickly so it's ideal for that.
The heater in the room was on full blast with no option of switching it off, so we left the windows open all night.
the location was gorgeous and it was close to warner brothers studio
It being so close to the train tracks was the only downward side of the place
