Wanstead Hotel

It was reachable from the train station by the underground & then the bus. They let us check in early and leave our bags. They cleaned the room daily. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. There was heat/Aircon and we had access to the common area with microwave, sink, and fridge.

There was very little space to put our clothes and items.The bathroom was tiny and needed to be cleaned, especially in the shower

The location was excellent

Towels and bed linen worn and threadbare. Window surrounds rotten. Shower had just two heat settings: scalding and volcanic.

Decent hotel. Room was small and cramped but had everything i needed. Bed was comfy. Hotel is only a 10 minute walk from the underground ?

Lady at the property was so lovely and welcoming. Room and facilities were good and bed comfy

Although a non smoking hotel when you entered the property there was a stale smoke smell. It didn't penetrate the room but as soon as you opened the door you could smell it

Lovely, quiet room. It was clean and comfortable. We arrived early but we were able to check in. Great location for where we needed.

The hotel was easy to find, check in was simple. Room was fine with a choice of beds. A bit chilly as I didn't spot the windows were open. Tea & coffee supplied, tv was working fine. The room and bathroom were clean. Breakfast was not included in my booking, but the local Wetherspoons was open early.

Parking on site was great . Friendly greeting.

Parking space outside. Value for money. Walking distance to the tube.

Nothing really except there was no spoon to stir the tea with and the kettle wouldn’t fit under the tap to fill it!

The toilet seat was broken, the bedside table was broken, the bed was flimsy and creaky

Wanstead Hotel has been one of my go-to hotels whenever I need an overnight stay in London. It's always a pleasure to see and have a conversation with the receptionist, very welcoming & accommodating. Room is good for its price and location is very accessible. ??

The last time I booked my stay in this hotel, the handle of the shower was detached. At first, I thought it was okay, that there was no faulty equipment or anything , and when I turned it on, it was ice cold, gradually becoming boiling hot af. And there was no way this could be attached back manually. ? That was kind of stressful and disappointing, but I guess it just happens ?

Very handy for my stays when I visit town for football.Alway s very friendly staff and nothing is too much trouble.I lost a glove and the lady will kindly hold it for my next visit.Parking is very handy.

Traffic nearby can be a bit noisy.

Lovely welcome and great to have some parking available.Front was well lit so arriving in the dark I felt safe.Bed was comfy and bedding smelt lovely and fresh. Me and my best friend attended a gig at the o2 and this was the perfect location. It was away enough from the hustle and bustle of busy London, but close enough to get to and from the venue in 15 minutes or so via car. The beds were amazing and the room was fresh, quiet and spacious. Thank you for the hospitality!

Very good price, friendly staff and plenty of parking

It is 10 minutes away from numerous markets, like Tesco, and good restaurants, especially Baba's Restaurant. Their butter chicken is a must-try.

First, the cleaning staff needs to be replaced immediately. You only need to look under the bed to see enough hair to fill a pillow. We were out of soap for three days and had to use shampoo to wash our hands, even after asking numerous times. The hotel's cleanliness is horrible, and its location is terrible. It is equidistant from two metro stations, requiring a 15-minute walk to either. The hotel rooms are tiny and claustrophobic; it is difficult to carry luggage up the narrow, steep stairs. The hotel room is next to a highway, and the sirens, engines, and horns disrupt sleep. Finally, the bed and pillows are awful; the bed is so soft you sink into it, and the pillows are so uncomfortable that a sweater would be preferable.

Not recommended

We were given a room completely different to the one we booked. It was an unpleasant room at the rear overlooking an untidy yard and utility room. A water pipe dripped very loudly all night, the beds were uncomfortable , the towels were raggy and the fan was disgusting. The woman seemed surprised when we turned up and seemed to struggle to put us somewhere. It didn't look anything like the pics on the website. There was no storage in the bathroom, we had to put our toiletries on the floor.

White sheets and beds were clean

The room was not clean, there was dirt on the floor behind the bed, the bathroom was not up to scratch the soap dispenser was dirty and needs a change, the towels were threadbare.

Location. Easy check in. Calm surroundings.

Cold bathroom. Beds. No breakfast.

Wouldn't recommend

The room was covered in dust, marks on the walls, and not to mention, the shower drain was caked in hair! It doesn't look like the room has been properly clean in months, and that's being generous. I understand it's a budget hotel, but that doesn't mean it has to be dirty. Wouldn't recommend staying here.

We didn’t like it.

We inform, that our stay was very bad. We came there on Wednesday, 4th of December. Instantly when we checked in and walked to the room there were pungent cigarette smell, the window was open and on the ledge of the window there was traces of smoked cigarette. Also we booked room for two people and got the room with two separate beds, one was with sheets and the other one didn’t have any, we found sheets without covers near the room entrance, laying on the floor, it was super stained and when we asked in the reception to just have sheet covers the lady started to be rude when we mentioned that the sheets are dirty and she said that it was impossible. We went upstairs to the room to show dirty sheets to her and she said that it doesn’t belong to the room that we booked, because we only booked room for two (so why give us room with two beds that one bed we couldn’t use?!?) and we mentioned that I contacted the “hotel” beforehand about possibility to have two separate sheets but no one answered to my message in booking. Also she took the sheets and said that sheet covers for DIRTY SHEETS would be 20 pounds. There also been very dirty floors that were cleaned properly god knows when. Shower was filthy too.
