Nice country house, clean with beautiful view to the lake from our room. Good breakfast.

Good communication before check in....comfy bed and nice extras although unsure if some things were charageable ie; sweets at side of bed. Pretty building with stain glass windows. Lady at check out more helpful and at least opened doors to help partner out with bags.

Although I did come with my dog they were more dogs than people at the hotel and reactive dogs sat right next to entrance making it aqward for entering and exiting at times. No lift and was on top floor with no explaination at check in and no help to take bags up. Didnt explore the hotel as felt like an intruder and wasnt told were we could go and wasnt sure if some areas were for wedding guests only. Car parking impactical as away from main entrance and had to lug bags from car. Although boasts in large grounds much of it is impractical with steep drops....although small bit of woodland at the back if your not yet exhausted from carrying bags from car and up flights of steps with no help.

I came across this hotel while looking at wedding venues so booked a night to see it myself and wow every room had its own character and views are breathtaking nicola showed us around she was absolutely lovely nothing was too much trouble even though she must show so many couples around all the time she took her time to explain everything to us and to give us the tour she is a credit to the hotel so friendly! Would absolutely recommend

Beautiful building, bar is lovely and breakfast was great.

The furniture in the communal rooms had holes a rips in it and stained. The bathroom in the bedroom was unbelievably outdated and looked cheap.

Merewood Country House Hotel offers a truly charming experience, set in a stunning, picturesque location. The aesthetic of the property is absolutely delightful, with its beautiful surroundings, making it feel like a hidden gem. It felt almost like embarking on a treasure hunt, as there were so many cozy spots and unique corners to discover within the hotel itself. The breakfast was top-notch, offering a variety of fresh, delicious options to start the day. Whether you’re a fan of traditional English breakfasts or lighter fare, they had something for everyone. The location is also ideal, with the hotel being close to the lake and various attractions, making it perfect for those looking to explore the natural beauty of the area. What’s impressive is that there doesn’t seem to be a negative review in sight, which is a testament to the consistent quality of the experience offered.Overall, if you’re looking for a peaceful retreat with excellent amenities and close proximity to local attractions, Merewood Country House Hotel is a perfect choice.

Stayed here once before, around 8-10 year ago when it was a bit fresher, staff are good and attentive, very warm and comfortable beds

No disabled parking near hotel doorway, limited grill menu was poor, breakfast also boringly bland, even though we told them it was our anniversary weekend we still got shoved down the very end of a corridor off to the back of the hotel where the view was of the rear/side trees where staff below were talking loudly and laughing etc at night, was a good price for the weekend but it’s not always about money, the carpets need refreshing all around.

Lovely hotel, roaring fires, friendly team that go above and beyond to welcome you and make you feel comfortable. Really made my little girl feel special when they found out it was her birthday

    Nothing!

Fabulous full English breakfast and choice of pastries and cereal

We were the only couple dining in a large restaurant, maybe a suggestion to dine in the bar area would have been appreciated / more cosy.

    8DavidPosted on: 3-12-2025

Breakfast was very good with a choice of coffee blends and no extra charge for smoked salmon and scrambled eggs

Maybe a tidier porch entrance - somewhere to place all the walking shoes etc as that is the first thing seen when you arrive at the hotel.

Fantastic hotel in a great location. Friendly and welcoming staff made us feel at home. Great breakfast with lots of choice and quality products.

Breakfast was outstanding. So much choice. We ordered evening meals at The Grill as the food was so delicious and the service was excellent. Loved sitting by the fire and relaxing. The room was spacious with a beautiful bathroom and enormous bed.

Only a tiny thing but a sight shame the full length mirror in room 14 was attached to the side of the wardrobe with the table full of tea and coffee next to it. This meant it was difficult to dry my hair and use the mirror.
