Pros +
- Incredible location and the room was so warm and cosy! The views are absolutely spectacular.
- Service, position, ambience luxury food
- Hotel is absolutely beautiful overlooking Lake WindermereThe staff were amazing, so helpful and even gave us a room upgrade as we were celebrating my husband’s birthday. Had dinner in the restaurant which was delicious. Cannot fault anything!
Cons -
- The food wasn’t very good, especially the breakfasts. The service in general was bad. We made multiple requests that were all ignored as they don’t do handovers. Having said this, everyone was very pleasant and eager to help, there’s just a lack of coordination and proper management.
- These are not things we didn’t like, but rather things for improvement to make it world class: 1) More halal options - there is a huge audience that isn’t entirely catered for and whilst the staff do their best to accommodate, additional options here would open up a new market 2) Afternoon tea whilst amazing should always be done on a tiered stand - it’s classical 3) Additional toiletries should be made available as standard in all bathrooms: dental kit, shaving kit etc 4) Consider extending room service and turndown hours - most people return to rooms in the evenings and there isn’t many options past 9pm if you are still hungry
- Overall no complaints at all. One minor complaint is that one of the staff wasn’t too keen on helping us and it almost looked like she was deliberately ignoring us and once she helped us she acted really uninterested.

WORST MISTAKE WE EVER MADE was that we didn’t stay longer. Incredible restored building with the most incredible staff, hospitality and bedrooms. It feels like Lake Como in the Lake District and the festive season made it all the more special. Within easy reach of all the quaint towns: Bowness, Windermere and Ambleside. The breakfast is amazing, the views captivating and the atmosphere feels nostalgic and warm.

My stay at Langdale Chase Hotel was absolutely wonderful. I spent four days in this elegant hotel, enjoying the breathtaking views of Lake Windermere. The room was clean, the facilities were modern, and the service throughout my stay was exceptional. The food was another highlight—breakfast, light lunch, and dinner were all delicious and beautifully prepared. I especially value a quiet and relaxing environment, and this hotel exceeded my expectations. As a solo traveller, I truly appreciated the peaceful and cosy atmosphere, which allowed me to fully unwind. I particularly enjoyed sitting by the fireplace, reading a book and soaking in the calm surroundings. When the weather was pleasant, I enjoyed starting my mornings with a walk through the hotel’s beautiful gardens. For guests looking for more entertainment, the hotel also offers a private cinema, and it is a lovely place to spend time chatting with friends or family. The staff members truly made the experience even more special—their warm smiles were always welcoming, and they were consistently attentive and ready to help. Overall, I had a truly memorable stay and I very much look forward to returning in the future.
Loved absolutely everything about our stay. The staff were excellent & the food was beautiful. Gorgeous room with balcony. Would definitely recommend.
A huge thank you to the lovely lady at the front desk for bringing me water late at night in the rain — I really appreciate it. The slim gentleman and the cheerful big guy in the restaurant were also incredibly friendly. I loved the atmosphere, the dinner was wonderful, and the service was excellent. I’ll definitely recommend this place to my colleagues for their holidays!
What’s not to like. The location of the property and the property itself are breathtaking.

The views from the Restaurant...stunning !Staff member Lena .. exceptional
Dinner was slightly disappointing. Felt the starters were overpriced
Beautiful grounds and view of the lake, the hotel itself is stunning with plenty of lounge space to relax. Staff all lovely. Excellent breakfast, and we loved our boat trip aboard the Albatros.
Dinner was nice but perhaps lacking in atmosphere and we felt a little overpriced. Still tasty though!
Location, decor, comfort and attention to detail
Small portions and service sometimes slow
The rooms were generously proportioned with high quality amenities. We had good options at breakfast with the flexibility to change. Very good view of Lake Windemere from the restaurant. Grounds were well kept.
The stairs can be a little narrow and tight which were a little challenging for older people (especially up to the top follow). But it is to be expected in an old building.
The location is stunning, and the service was impeccable. We stayed to celebrate our mini-moon with some friends from overseas and they truly made it a special and memorable experience and stay for us. Highly recommend.
The character of the building, the attentiveness of the staff, the location and the room, and all the lovely touches.
A great stay and very pleasantly surprised at how beautiful and well kept this hotel was. Unbelievable location and staff were really helpful and friendly. Food was great and will definitely be recommending this hotel!!!
Fantastic hotel on the banks of Windermere - views from the hotel are breathtaking - definately take up the lake cruise on the hotels private boat ‘albatross’ the skipper and his mate are excellent company and informative. Cocktails in the bar are excellent and the dinner is stunning
Nothing - a fantastic trip
Location, the building inside and out, the intimacy of a small select hotel, the fine food and fine wines. Altogether an enviable experience.
Thought pre- dinner bar service slightly inattentive for quality of hotel. Felt we would need to find somebody if we had required a second pre- dinner drink - would have been preferable to have been asked having drunk the first. A small criticism - we were not waiting long before being shown to our table and the drinks we did have had arrived promptly. We had no cash on us and felt our failure to tip one of the concierges (which we would liked to have done) showed in his rather nonchalant attitude as we left. He could not have been more charming on our arrival - we were disappointed not to have been able to tip he nor his colleague the next morning - but he should not have assumed that to be meanness on our part.
The service was amazing and so was the location, staff couldn’t do enough for you and the room was beautiful
The English breakfast was slightly underdone for my liking but everything else was exceptional
Cleanliness and location
Value for money
The location, interiors and gardens were great. The staff make you feel like at home. The boat albatros and the crew is fantastic..
