- Everywhere was Extremely Clean, Room was spacious. Nice view from our window.Nice dining area and Bar, All staff on the Evening were polite and lovely, bent over backwards for you.Drinks reasonable at the bar.Evening meal was lovely. Breakfast was nice especially the variety of drinks.Fire burning was cosy and relaxing.Peaceful place.

Cons -
- This time of year... with it being cold, the duvet cover was more for the summer and there was no spare blankets in the wardrobe.Only had half toilet roll.Puddings with our evening meal were frozen.Price of food is over priced.Lady at Breakfast was little abrupt !!.
- The lack of consistency with the food was disappointing. We ordered the sourdough bread on the first night, and it came with two buns, butter, and oil. The second night we ordered it, it wasn't even sourdough; it was white sliced bread, and I received a slice and a half for £6. The breakfast was the same; the first morning it was great, however, the second morning it was like we were on rations, definitely not worth £12.95.
- The locals from the Crown, were a bit intimidating and took over slightly

The locals from the Crown, were a bit intimidating and took over slightly
Great location, very clean, all the staff were very friendly & helpful. Lovely food & all in a very relaxing environment.
Nothing to dislike.
The food was delicious and the bar staff were excellent
The pool was closed and we were not informed as on the George website they had photos The room we got was not the one we booked with yourselves the tv was in a separate room with a sofa but you clearly could not see the tv the receptionist agreed there were blue bottle flies in the bathroom and no soap in the dispenser for the showerThere was still works being carried out as the hotel was under refurbishment when we asked staff about the pool they were not bothered the manageress would not come and speak to us we were offered no apology or no compensation we were mis sold so in the whole a very disappointing trip
Beautiful surroundings. Lovely hotel. Great staff especially the scottish lady, didnt get her name. Great breakfast.
We were woken up by other residents. So not very peaceful, obviously that's not the hotels fault but overall experience would have been better if not for that.
Cold
Our room was so cold the draft from the windows was bad , even with three radiators also room shabby
restaurant was good. Rooms a bit dated but comfortable.
Slow response from hotel when requesting my receipt
Great location for walking.staff were friendly and very helpful. The food in the restaurant was superb.
Great food, superb location, very helpful and friendly staff
Renovated comfortable relaxing with friendly staff
Shame pool has closed
Stunning location action by the river Tyne. Warm welcome from friendly staff, excellent Sunday roast.Generous breakfast and cosy interior.
Warm and comfortable throughout the hotel, all staff were very good, food was good.
Nothing not to like really, but some simple enhancements could quickly uplift the experience.
The location was gorgeous and the reception rooms were particularly lovely - very nicely decorated and cosy. The staff were all friendly and accommodating. The water pressure was good and the bed was comfortable.
The plumbing was a bit noisy at times and the bathroom fan was a bit temperamental (sometimes staying on but sometimes going on/off). Some areas were a little less polished than others and perhaps could do with a bit of updating but all in all it was a lovely stay and these points were very minor.
Rustic and authentic hotel set in a beautiful location, next to the river. Rooms were clean and tidy and the food was good. Nice pub/lounge area with wood fires which created a cosy space, perfect for a winter stay.
The rooms and decor is a bit dated and for the price would have expected a little bit more. We had a hiccup with one meal in particular (extremely salty pork) though it was handled by the staff very well.
Breakfast was okay
Room was cold on arrival, very little hot water for a bath, over priced evening meal, no milk in the room.
A lovely hotel on the River South Tyne and well located for the work I was doing. Free on site car park, both front and rear. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was good in the evening and for breakfast (from 07.30am). Room was comfortable.
Restricted menu in the evening. Cooked breakfast from 07.30am is late for me, although the waitress did take my order for it early (open from 07.00am for buffet breakfast), so it was ready for not long after 07.30.
Lovely location good food staff very helpful Cozy lounge with log fire
Room looked a little tired
Beautiful location, tastefully decorated with great evening ambience, log fires a great touch
There was nothing not to like
Great breakfast and friendly staff. Housekeeping and reception very good.
Rather tired looking room as there was evidence of damp problems from the roof. Building fabric needs attention.
