Cons -
- Nothing really- a possible little noisy from the hotel when we went to bed apart from that - fine
- We stayed for two nights in early MarchOverpriced meals and drinks that are on a par with the London West End. Why?We were allocated a substandard small bedroom and we needed to complain and get a larger room for our second night. Not a patch on the quality boutique establishment that it used to be.In summary, a real disappointment

Stunning food, great beers, good people, lovely view and the best bed ever.
The breakfast was amazing, original menu with an individual touch to the choices and some gorgeous tasting food. It was a very relaxing atmosphere with table service and a clean, warm and spacious environment. The bar at the hotel has the cosy feel of a Cumbrian pub, a real fire burning, beautifully decorated and friendly chatty staff. We ate in the restaurant the night before and the food, atmosphere and staff was all wonderful. The food was locally sourced and foraged with what is in season. Everything was top quality with consideration to being environmentally friendly.
There was nothing we didn't like.
Location
Bathroom was tired with plaster falling off. The breakfast was poor and a real let down
The staff, location
The breakfast , the beers, no mirror or tea and coffe faculties in the room
Breakfast was very good Dinner menu was a disaster no Beef, Pork,Chicken,Fish or Lamb!!!The owner is making a political statement...of perceived sustainability.....only wild meat on the carte....rabbit ,duck, venison We also had our meal served on Cold plates ..sent both meals back and received scant apology from frankly an arrogant waiterStay by all means ....beware dinner ...look before reserving a table
Scap the experimental menu or go full on Vegan
Beautifully presented gastro pub feel but not pretentious. Super friendly accommodating staff and food of Michelin star quality.
Superb location out the way with views overlooking Ambleside. The pub is warm and cosy and the locals all friendly, lovely staff and some proper real ale brewed at the premises.
No tea coffee making facilities in the room, you had to phone the night porter to fetch your drinks.Three out of the five choices for dinner were vegetarian on the set menu, rabbit and venison being the meat eaters choice, what no steak??!!No sausage with the breakfast. But I must say the dinner we both had was very nice(venison)
Lovely staff, location and food.Great pub and Beer ?
One thing we would have liked would have been more cosier seating in the pub itself.
Very good breakfast, coffee superb . The evening. meal was to a very high standard.Room was charming and well presented ,although quite small .
Both my wife and myself had a little difficulty working the shower . I eventually found out how to control the shower temperature but not before we had both experienced an unwelcome cold water shower initially.A note in the bathroom about controlling the shower temperature would have been helpful .
Great LocationGreat StaffLovely Food
Room was small and wardrobe inaccessible Upper corridors not great. Need redecoration and smelt. Didn't match the high quality of the ground floor.
Enjoyable stay, staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was tasty and relaxed.
Very clean - lovely room and excellent bar with great choice of drinks and wonderful staff.
No issues at all
Breakfast was good, enough choice for all , able to swap butter for non dairy spread when requested.
Breakfast met all expectations
liked quality of food ,bread particularly, also inventive veg dishes
more choice of main courses would have been welcome
Very friendly and efficient staff
Our room was somewhat tired. Bathroom in particular. Food did not meet our expectations. Menu looks fabulous but the delivery is not that good.
Room was lovely and clean, Breakfast was wonderful and all the staff went above and beyond.
It’s not a criticism because the food was wonderful, but we weren’t expecting to have to have 3 courses and as I am a very fussy eater, there wasn’t much choice for me with the main meal, but like I said what I did have was excellent
We like everything about are stay the room was lovely the staff where so friendly..Will definitely revist..
The only thing was the breakfast was alittle bit of a let down food over cooked
