Location, the excellent rooms and staff made our stay wonderful.Liz one of the staff was brilliant and gave us some great tips on where to try walking with the weather a bit iffy for a few days. The restaurant was brilliant and so well decorated and the Christmas decorations were very classy. Also the food was brilliant and the breakfasts was a good as anywhere we have been before. We will 100% be back soon.
Couldn’t get Netflix working in room 35 even though WiFi was working well.
Lovely breakfast and evening meal, good local brewed beer on our second night as they had run out on the first night
Ran out of breakfast items at about half nine when told breakfast was till 10 am and then blamed the flooded roads for deliveries not able to get through !
Absolutely beautiful hotel and surroundings. Very clean and great staff. They had a delicious breakfast.
I appreciated the hotel’s convenient location and the quality of the breakfast.
The room cleaning was insufficient, and the hot water was so inconsistent that it became unacceptable. These are basic comfort standards that should be ensured for all guests.
The location is superior. The property could be superior if it were clean.
As soon as we arrived we had to ask for the floor in our room to be vacuumed. The floor was littered with bits of leaves, bits of crisps, mud, sock fuzz, and even bits of toilet roll. The floor was never completely vacuumed during our 3-day stay. When the shower glass door leaked onto the bathroom floor, I had to use the towels to wipe up the mess. I left the dirty, soaked towels on the floor. When we returned, they had been hung, wet and dirty, for us to use again.
The location was very good
The meal in the restaurant at night was nasty overcooked yet cold chicken breast and a pasta dish that was cold and tasteless
Location was very good ,right near the lake.Initially rooms were clean.
The internet is so weak,it is useless.Service is non existent.Housekeeping is pathetic. No change of sheets. No vaccuming. You cannot even call housekeeping because no contact numbers are provided and rooms do not have intercom.Breakfast is poor quality and inadequate choice.Staff is unbelievably rude.No airconditioning.
Breakfast service was good. The hotel trades of its location, one of the best in the district. You could say it's not expensive for the location.
It's a UK 4 star hotel so you expect grubby, under maintained and short staffed. You will not be disappointed. Entering the restaurant, which was far from crowded you are met with the resigned and crestfallen faces of customers pushing food to the side of the plate. The kitchen staff have some questions to answer on the quality of what they are sending out. We left our meal. Inedible. The waiter quipped "too much finish" too right. Once biten....The staff generally are trying their best but it's clearly understaffed and they appear rushed and harried.
Loved the location staff were really lovely ?
Breakfast could have been hotter hard work I no keeping it under hot holds
Hotel itself was ok but tired looking. Some staff very helpful.
Everything excessively expensive and food reviews were terrible. Decided not to eat there.
Everything from the staff, to the rooms, to the service and the hotel in general was fantastic. All staff including maintenance were friendly, polite and extremely welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. The room we had was a perfect view of the lake, it was extremely spacious and very well maintained. All the little extras in the room such as the ironing board, the fan, hairdryer etc were all brilliant. The location of the hotel was perfect and great transport links into surrounding areas. We dined in the hotel on our first evening and the food was absolutely delicious, our breakfast each morning was spot on and plenty of choice, it definitely set us up for the day. We had fantastic weather whilst there so it definitely helped us to enjoy the grounds more, This was my first trip to the lake district and this hotel made it a fantastic first experience, I will definitely be returning Thank you to all at The Waterhead and keep up the great work you all do
Having to leave and come home to rainy Manchester ?
Location excellent, room size was large, bathroom heated towel rack, drink coupon in exchange for keeping our towels and not servicing the room,
Cleanliness of the furniture—very old and dusty, bathroom sink never had hot water, no variety for breakfast, pillows were BAD and needed to be flatter so as to not hurt your neck, would have preferred getting 2 entry keys, no local town maps provided, no list of cafes, restaurants, emergency doctor/dentist, etc., check in staff gave little information and did not have customer service attitudes.
The staff was very friendly and super helpful with our luggage. The location is perfect right across the lake.Food in the restaurant was delicious
The only elevator was malfunctioned and we had to walk outside and got into our room from behind the building
Room was nice, v quiet. Breakfast and dinner good.
Connor a member of staff was exceptional. Customer service at its best. Nothing too much trouble when he had to change our double bed into two singles. A real asset to the group
The check in process is very slow
Breakfast was a combination of buffet style and order from menu. It worked fine. Although I was a bit surprised to be charged extra for espresso coffees. Room--good size and had a great view. Had all we needed.
Dinner--food was ok but not great. I think this could be improved .
room clean and comfortable lovely bath room breakfast good we had dinner in the bar the food was very good especially the venison
thought it was overpriced added room with a view could see the view by standing and looking through small windowmore of a pub than a hotel
