Location , staff and breakfast

Room was too hot and did not have air conditioning.

Everything! A stunning hotel in a beautiful location. The interiors are very tasteful and the finishes are beautiful. The landscaping is dreamy. The staff are very warm and welcoming. Breakfast was locally sourced and very tasty. I can’t wait to revisit and stay longer!

The room size and comfort were very nice. Of particular excellence was the engineering of the lighting. Overall, the food quality was very good. We especially liked the Rosemary ice cream and Tart Cherry sorbet.

The fruit salad at breakfast was below par. We had to ask to have some berries included and even then the amount was limited. The fruit that was included was under-ripe, not well managed. Also, I would have liked a fresh whole grain, cereal type bread option. The sour dough bread was excellent, but I like to use mostly whole grains.

The room was huge and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. The patio space was comfortable and relaxing.

Not a huge deal for us, but there is no elevator.

The location is excellent for exploring the Lake District.

Aside from the hotel restaurant which is fantastic, the dining options are not so great when compared to nearby towns such as Grasmere.

This hotel is ideally situated on the edge of Ambleside within easy walking distance to the town an d the Windermere ferry. The included breakfast provided a wide choice to suit all pallates

Very comfortable luxury English Country Hotel with great location in heart of the Lake District, very comfortable rooms and excellent food. Relaxed vibe, and easy walking from the door.

Enjoyable 2 night stay. Received cocktails and other gifts in room complimentary which was unexpected.

All of it, from the staff (knowledge, friendliness, assistance), the quality of the hotel, amazing food.....we couldn't fault it. The quality of the food at dinner and selection of wines were excellent. We couldn't fault it.

The food was right on the button…this is our second time staying at Rothay Manor and top marks…and yes we will be back

I have an electric car ….charging was a challenge …it would be easier just to use your credit card instead of having to download an App.

Nothing. The only thing I would say is there were a couple of stains on the bath mat and toilet roll

A brilliant 2 night stay at Rothay Manor in March 2025. The food was excellent, breakfast and evening meal, and the staff made us feel so welcome, going above and beyond to make our stay special. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a luxury stay a 5 minute walk from the centre of Ambleside. Thank you so much!

Excellent food ( breakfast) didn’t eat at hotel other than breakfast, very comfortable room, interesting book selection in room, very clean facilities, gorgeous bath, polite and attentive service

Nothing disliked

Great hotel, rooms are so lovely and comfortable, friendly staff, excellent breakfast and very good cosmopolitans in the bar. Plus a lovely space outside to sit in better weather and plenty parking.

Very comfortable relaxed hotel with very friendly staff. Food is of a high standard. Situation is great for walking into Ambleside.

An amazing hotel in beautiful grounds, close to both the town and Lake Windermere with a truly amazing team to look after every need. Excellent attention to detail both in terms of service, customer care and staff interaction. A truly amazing overnight stay and a very special place indeed. We will absolutely look forward to returning.

Excellent location for walking into Ambleside or walking to get the boat to Windermere. We had a double delux room and had lots of room. Everything was spotless. The maid had been in and made our bed each morning when we had had breakfast.
