- All round great trip, good location, room and facilities
- I liked the location, the staff they made our stay special even conversing in Spanish with my partner. The decor and furnishings including little details making us feel at home . We loved the breakfasts and the evening meals Of course we liked the spa too.....
- We stopped in the loft rooms and they were very spacious, nice jacuzzi bath and a sauna in the room. The hotel was in a really good location for everything really. We had some nice food in the town centre for dinner, ate in the hotel for tea. Enjoyed the spa on the Friday and went walking on the saturday( loughrig fell and rydal cave).Spa was really good , both me and the wife had a massage. Nice and clean in the swimming pool areas and we enjoyed the sauna and steam room. Food in the hotel was excellent and we really enjoyed the breakfast , it was really well presented when you first walk in and plenty of choices to choose from. The fried breakfast was lovely.Very close for some lovely walks and some nice scenery. Would deffo stop again .
Cons -
- Nothing it was all good !
- Could do with maybe a couple of cocktails on the bar area, was lovely to sit in the lounge areas after eating and relax but would be ideal with a lovely cocktail to finish.
- Very small double room, felt cramped. Lounge/sitting room had so many sofas in it that it looked like a sofa showroom. On site parking ideal if there was space, hardly any turning space and even the overspill car park was full.

Loved the facilities, swimming pool etc were lovely. Breakfast was first class and couldn't fault the quality and selection. Staff were lovely too.

This is our 5th time staying at the Salutation, perfectly placed in a the beautiful town of Ambleside. The hotel facilities suited our needs well. We had a loft suit which was very well designed and laid out. Each time we used the Spa, it was never too busy. The restaurant service and food are of a high standard.
On check in, our room was very cold, it seemed to take an age to warm up (especially as we'd just come in off the fells). This, we felt took away the wow factor of the room. Not much that could be done once we were there.
Clean tidy friendly staff location good breakfast superb spa facilities great
Plug socket next to bed room 108
Location is everything. Staff are wonderful and the property itself is so comfortable, informal yet well-appointed. We love it.
The location was perfect. Beautiful rooms and lovely staff!!
There was nothing we didn’t like! If I had to choose something the spa was a little small however, it wasn’t busy so it wasn’t an issue!!
2nd stay here .Amazing, clean ,friendly. Can find nothing to fault it. Really big relaxing lounge area so don't need to stay in the room . Breakfast so much choice and delicious, try the porridge...we didn't need to eat again until early evening.Seems like the staff really care about the hotel and the guests.
Great location. Hotel has a lovely charm. Inviting lounge areas to enjoy post walk.A pool and spa area that is excellent and so so clean. Our bedroom was huge and well equipped and beautiful decor. Breakfast cooked to order and perfection itself.Absolutely fabulous stay from start to finish
Spa was great, loads of seating areas scattered around hotel, really clean and warm
Staff in restaurant were over attentive - no sooner had we sat down and we were asked what we wanted from toast to drinks to breakfast items - everything was a bit rushed. When hot breakfast came, obvious it had been pre-cooked and kept warm
Staff were so friendly and welcoming !! The two ladies on reception in particular were lovely and helped us no end
We stay here each year and it is perfect from checking in, all the facilities and most importantly the attention to detail, friendliness and professionalism of all the staff we met.
Having to leave.
The room was lovely, good size with a comfy bed. The breakfast was excellent.
Warm, friendly, welcoming staff.Beautiful spacious room (Lakeland Club with hot tub)Fantastic breakfast.
Great facilities, pool, gym and spa great. Right in the centre of town.
Nothing not to like.
Location perfect. Lounge and bar area was really comfortable. Breakfast excellent. Service excellent.
Slightly disappointed with gym. Only one treadmill which was not working. Also sauna and steam room not particularly hot.
