- We've been visiting the Lakes for over 40 years and stayed in lots of hotel up there. So, after reading the impressive reviews of this hotel, we thought we had to try it. WOW. What a place!! The hotel, location, food, the room were all fantastic. The views were amazing. But the staff were another level. All very welcoming, friendly and very helpful, without being over bearing and pretentious. Special thanks to Emma on reception who was brilliant from the start to finish. We had a fantastic holiday here and would definitely recommend it. We will be back!!

Cons -
- No issues. Everything was very good.
- Coffee could be better for breakfast
- Would be enhanced with a private hot tub for the suite.

Great views of Windermere, property clean and has beautiful decor. Staff were fantastic, so friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Can’t wait to go back.
Location was amazing as was deco. Appreciated the polar pears and reindeer.
Would be enhanced with a private hot tub for the suite.
The main restaurant has the most amazing views and the breakfast was excellent. Top quality food.
The hot tub is a little too bubbly but everything else is just amazing

Everything from start to finish. Great staff. Great room. Fabulous food and wine.Views to die for.
Nothing at all
Beautiful, small luxurious hotel in stunning peaceful location.Exceptional staff who made our stay.Loved everything here, such a relaxed, homely, unstuffy atmosphere. We felt completely relaxed and spoilt. Our experience in the restaurant was outstanding.Yes it was expensive but worth every penny.A little piece of heaven.
We stayed in the Windermere suite which was lovely but could be improved by a better dressing area as the wardrobe was in the living room. There was no dressing table or mirror to dry your hair or no full length mirror.
exceptional staff. Michelin star food . beautiful location.
The room although were nice and clean but the hotel didn’t have temperature control and the bedroom in the suite were upstairs and it would get very hot and no way to cool that .
The scenery and location was superb but the real credit that makes the hotel is the care and attention provided by the workforce team. They were amazing.
Automatic tips for one off drinks
The staff really make this place - they are exceptional. Fantastic service. We had a tasting menu with wine which was incredible. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. The views from the hottub are wonderful.
This is not a cheap place to stay - the service was faultless but our room was small with no view and disappointing for the price we paid. I booked 3 rooms as we were travelling in a group. All cost the same but the other two rooms were much nicer than ours so we were just unlucky but perhaps the smaller, viewless room should be cheaper.
The setting was exceptional as was the privacy. We walked through the extensive grounds and didn’t see anyone- it was amazing, as were the views.
The bed was two singles covered with bedding to appear as one large bed so there was an uncomfortable join in the middle- disappointing for the price paid for the room. I did mention this when we checked out- they explained this was the only room with this situation and if we returned to ask for a different room. This is the room they use if guests want a twin beds.
Amazing location, welcoming and professional staff. Good and wine were excellent and hot tub with a view is amazing.
Everything was fabulous.
Hotel in fabulous location with views over Windermere lake.
No air con
Pancakes for breakfast were burnt and inedible - had to be sent back - that was just one morning. Evening taster meal was fabulous, lived up to expectations.
The restaurant has recently been awarded a much deserved Michelin Star and I have to say the breakfast was the best we've ever eaten. From its huge panoramic windows offering 270 degree views of lake Windermere the restaurant area has truly one of the most spectacular views on the planet. The hotels 'high up' location with its fabulous and extensive grounds, the interior design, the amazing food and the warm and welcoming staff.. a lakes stay just doesn't get any better! ..
On the whole, I'm hard pushed to find any fault with the hotel or service provided.
We had a suite, which was adjacent to another small suite. There was an adjoining door from the lounge of our room, through which you could hear the guests in the next room....passing by/talking.This might not be a problem for most, but we'd have preferred a different setup.
Fabulous service location and room was so comfortable
Our fourth visit and each time the service has been excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend the fine dinning restaurant not only great views but great food, not only does it have a Michelin Star, 4 AA Rosettes it won Best Boutique Hotel Restaurant 2023. We stayed in the Grassmere room with three windows overlooking the grounds and views of lake Windermere a large comfortable bedroom.
