Cons -
- The unavailability of eating in the restaurant for the duration of our stay.
- No bath as advertised and staff entered my room whilst not there
- Facilities. It was clear that the hotel and bar is declining. It felt unwelcoming at times. The fires weren’t on considering we are in winter! therefore was cold in the hotel and bar areas. The selection of real ales was poor!At breakfast, basic supplies like sugar and jams ran out and not filled. No teaspoon with coffee/tea cup. Cold sausages!

Not a lot
Dark and not very welcoming, lots of open fires and not one of them lit. shower was poor, so tried a bath and the plug didn’t keep the water in.
Comfortable, cosy and short walking distance to waterfall, very dog friendly
Was a lovely location nice and quite very warm and cosy property.
The pillows were a little flat so had a sore neck after sleeping but comfy bed.
Loved the hotel. The food was great and all the staff was friendly. The front of house manager working in the restaurant was fanatic, his was amazing and always looked after my dog. A great character and asset to the hotel. He was always asked how you eeee and helpful. The young lad on the bar was also very nice and so lady at breakfast. Couldn’t have asked for a better stay.
The food was very good, and the chef made some adjustments for my wife which was lovely.
Over powering morning waiter, and bar staff not really knowing the prices and not having the right change. Pulling money out of the tip pot to give me my change,it felt like I was being guilted to give up my change. I was going to tip but on the second night this all felt rehearsed and I didn't feel like tipping. This being said.... I really did enjoy my stay hear. It Was a nice treat. I would come again.
Great location, good sized room.
Returned at 11pm aftet meal out. Door to hotel locked - wasnt advised of this. Had to cross over road in rain to staff building and knock on door loudly to get someone up.
Very pleasant staff, breakfast was good, hotel was clean but needs upgrade. Used the bar on the first evening, but the room eas cold, so we went out other evenings .

Great location and friendly staff
Bedroom slightly small, cold in the bar.
The room was clean, comfortable and well presented. The food in the bar and restaurant was very good and the staff were friendly. I travelled alone with my dog and I was made to feel very welcome
Everything with the hotel was great. The only thing I didn't like was the weather
Clean, quiet, helpful staff, lovely breakfast
Lovely large room and comfortable bed. Very cosy.
There were too many things that were not available on the menu.
room cosy, food tasty.
Busy at meals, particularly breakfast. They could provide more cutlery and food items for visitors to help themselves to save the staff running about fetching stuff that had run out. Eg.. butter, marmalade, orange juice, cutlery. We waited a long time for cooked breakfast on our final day because they were serving a party of eight who had walked in. Surely residents should take priority? Breakfast closed at 10am, they could have asked the party of eight to wait until then.
Staff welcoming and friendly, location superd for the hills. Single room fully functional.
Gabriel was working on our 2nd night he was a breath of fresh air! He was hard working never stopped smiling he was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for him He is an asset to the hotel and a few of the other staff could learn a lot from him!
The log fires were not lit which was a shame as it was quite cold. I feel this could have created a better warmer experience for the hotel
Great size room, dog friendly hotel. Fabulous choice of breakfast and perfect cooking! Even an option offered for your dog! Helpful friendly staff and ample on site parking. In a great location for walking into Little Langdale, Elterwater, Chapel styal. Short drive from Ambleside centre.Perfect place to stay if you are travelling with your dog!
The breakfast itself was good but the service not good. There was no clean tables settle up ready we see ourselves into recovery from other tables things like orange juice and a coffee machine had run out and nobody was there to refill until we managed to catch somebody somebody we waited 30 minutes before we had to catch somebody again to take our order for breakfast.
Maybe a different we have organised breakfast with table numbers or more staff rather than people haven’t wait about
Easy to reach location with parking and amazing views and scenery. Staff were very friendly and bar man was super fun to chat with.
Quite dated but comfortable enough. Bar/restaurant closed quite early-9 pm
