Quiet location, staff friendly and efficient
Needs a little tlc.
This is a good little hotel but there were a few things that we found a little odd and slightly disappointing. On the plus side the staff were very efficient and friendly plus the room was very clean and the hotel itself is very dog-friendly throughout. In addition the location is quiet and pleasant, being a good distance from Ludlow town centre. Our room had all that we needed but it was a little odd in that it had a large bath in the main room area next to the bed(!) plus the shower was open to view from the main room and while the toilet was hidden from view, there was no proper barrier in place such that to a degree one's privacy was a little compromised! The dinner menu is limited for most of the week to the a la carte menu which when we stayed offered three main dishes only. The food was served very attractively but we were disappointed overall. We found the sous vide beef to be less tender than we expected while it was also a little tasteless, bland and the risotto was a bit boring. No doubt the dishes change regularly and the chef is clearly very talented, but we expected better. Breakfast was fine, with plenty of choice on offer. Overall, a pleasant-enough stay but we thought that the evening meal was not really up to standard while the room layout was a bit weird!
Location good as wanted to be away from town - quiet and no traffic noise.Comfortable bed and soft bed linen.
A tired and dated hotel - these facts can be overlooked if the experience is pleasant overall. Unfortunately the staff let the hotel down- the young lady on reception was lovely however we had travelled for 3 hours and both of us were very hungry. We asked the short haired mature lady behind the bar if we could get a simple snack with our drink as we were not dining in the hotel. Her manner was abrupt and most unhelpful- with only second rate crisps and peanuts on offer. It was 5pm - we are your paying guests- surely a few pieces of fresh crusty bread and olives is not too taxing- it was obvious that we had just checked in and wouldn’t have asked had we not been hungry - a very poor welcome - I recommend she attend a customer service update!! There were some very unpleasant carpet stains in the room which I hope were tea spills!! The outdoor area was very tatty- weeds every where, rubbish in the borders and broken outdoor seating. All said- we did not feel that the hotel offered value for money- whilst some of the imperfections can be overlooked- an hours tidy up in the garden area would make all the difference - as would a warm welcome and helpful front of house staff- manners cost nothing. What a shame! We won’t be returning and consequently would not recommend this hotel to anyone else!??
Excellent location, very comfortable room, well equipped, clean and good value for money. Excellent breakfast, good choice, freshly cooked and very tasty. We didn't make use of the spa but it looked nice!
We had an evening meal, Monday, which was 'Bistro' menu, which was limited (no Cod!), not sure why when it was only Monday and not busy.
The hotel was spotlessly clean and the room was very comfortable. The standount for me was the staff - everyone we encoutered were very polite and extremely helpful
Super friendly and accommodating staff, great location
This will be our 4th visit in the past 6 years and a go to for us. It just seems like not much has changed in decoration and facilities, a lot of the common areas seemed a little tired and would benefit from fresh decoration/paint and new carpets. The breakfast seemed quite small in selection and a little off putting with extra charges were required for some items. On previous visits the buffet side of breakfast seemed to have more selection and more quantities, but maybe the hotel was not full enough to warrant that.Attention to detail, in the garden we sat at dirty tables with two day old cigarettes in the morningThe cleaning staff were super friendly and accommodating, yet maybe they are stretched? It won't stop us from considering it in the future , it's just a little sad it seems to have gone downhill and lost its status and sparkle
The Bathroom in our room was perfect. The outside area where the plastic hot tub was in very poor surroundings. It was unkempt with unused clutter. We booked full body massage and lunch package which was really lovely. The new wooden spa area was very pleasant and staff were very attentive. We enjoyed that very much. I loved the porridge. It took a while for Staff to be pleasant and comfortable serving us at the dining table. They appeared under pressure and service was slow.
Some improvements in the Service in the Hotel and additional lighting and comfort in the lounge. Communication was poor in trying to call the hotel and ask questions or to confirm special requests. There is no Internet, relaxing music or entertainment. Lounge area was dark and devoid of anything pleasant to appreciate. A coffee Machine in the room is there with no pods to be able to enjoy that coffee. Garden was a little unkempt; The Lawn was not Mowed and the slabs around were loose and dangerous inside and outside the spa. The person dealing with the daily cleaning of our room was unable to understand us and couldn't understand our requests.
Friendly staff and very helpful, comfortable room with good facilities lovely hotel.
Limited choice of evening meals for myself as I am gluten intolerant and attempting to find out the evening menu in time to order was a bit difficult.
Service was very poor:reactions from staff to simple requests was unprofessional:we had to ask for napkins at breakfastno we had to ask for everything invluding salt and sauce which took ages to arrive: breakfast was cold when ssuce attived:quslity of cooked breakfast very good
Breakfast experience was poor:alsowe paid for duperior room, but no regular coffee pods were available:we were told the hotel had run out (decaf only) no spology, told they were on order, but they did not arrive during stay
Lovely calm peaceful atmosphere, very restful. The Spa is very well laid out , the area where the hot tub is situated is a sun trap & has extensive views over open countryside. , We had back & neck massages , & found all the staff in the spa friendly, & professional.
Could have done with additional changing room shower space.
Really friendly and welcoming.staff. The food was excellent
The Spa was closed
Excellent big bed in big bedroom. Quiet location. Lots of parking. Tea making facilities and first rate shower. Super staff.
Lovely locationVery friendly receptionistsSuper bathroom
The carpet in the room looking very tired (large stains).Disappointed the spa wasn't open. The pillows
Good location, good soundproofing, couldn’t hear other guests talking or tv.
Little bit tired in places, could do with a redecoration. Disappointed that the spa was closed during our stay which was one reason we booked it.
Breakfast was excellent with great choice. Dining area was spacious.
Choice on menu for evening meal could have been more varied
Breakfast was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection for us. The location was gorgeous surrounded by trees and fields, great for connecting to nature and ourselves. The bed was huge in our superior room. The hotel exterior is very well maintained as are the grounds. We enjoyed our stay so much we added another day onto our visit. The staff were fabulous, efficient and all our needs were met, thank you to Amey on reception, Hayley on the bar along with Jess. The girls on breakfast duty were amazing they had their work cut out at every breakfast sitting. Every member of the team we came into contact with were polite, very accommodating and extremely hard working. What a great team they have.
Some of the decoration in the communal areas needed a touch up. As did some areas in our room, however saying this it did not put us off as all areas were clean and tidy no clutter, the hotel has a very welcoming feel to it.We had a really great stay.
The room was stylish and comfortable with lovely touches like fresh milk in the fridge. Breakfast was tasty but there could have been more choice available on the buffet table.
Needed a greater range of fruit and jams and pastries at breakfast.
