- This is a gem of a hotel in the centre of Welshpool. We stayed here 2 nights and found the place convenient for the town and surrounding area, the staff friendly and the food and accommodation to a high standard.
Cons -
- There wasn’t anything we didn’t like.
- A minor issue, but the coffee at breakfast was not of the quality available in the cafe/bar.
- Could do with a bit of updating - difficult in such a lovely building though.

Room was well decorated with a modern but quaint feel. The products in the bathroom were excellent qualityThe food at breakfast and dinner, had a good choice and was very good. Staff were excellent, attentive and friendly
Prior information on where the car park was.
The hotel was well placed in the centre of Welshpool and was very comfortable. Our room was beautifully presented & spotlessly clean with lots of additional touches to make our stay more enjoyable. It had loads of storage & was lovely & warm. We were especially happy with en-suite bathroom which was possibly the best we’ve had.The staff were all very pleasant & well informed & the breakfast was amazing - lots of choice & lots of it.
There wasn’t anything about the property that we didn’t like.
The property was beautiful and the rooms were second to none. Facilities and morning staff were great.
We found the evening staff quit rude we arrived back at the hotel around 10.30, hoped to get a drink but the bar staff told us it had closed early, as they were no customers. My husband and son then decided to walk to Tesco to get a bottle of wine and some nibbles. They were told that the gates would be closed and they would need to walk around. I understand that they need to close for security purposes and the bar closed early but the 2 gentleman working that evening did not need to be rude. Too be honest I was quite unhappy with the way they where spoken to. Especially since the hotel is beautiful. We travel up to Welshpool regularly as our daughter and her family live there and would have used the hotel regularly but with the rude staff I think I will think twice about returning.
Superb breakfast with many choices and able to customize choiceBeautiful choice of tables either with or without my dog
Coffee pot seemed to go cool quite quickly
The food was great. The bedroom was lovely and the housekeeping staff were exceptional
The window didn't open properly. The seating in the bar wasn't a particularly comfortable environment
Lovely very clean roomBeds comfortable Good breakfastBooked in for evening g meal which was delicious Staff friendly and helpfulDefinitely stay again
Nothing bad to say at all
I loved the location and the food was brilliant. I had the best Sunday roast. My room was so cosy and comfortable. I don't usually leave reviews but happy to make exceptions when I enjoy my stay this much
It was well presented and had plenty of space to relax, the food was very good with a wide variety on the menu. A very good breakfast with lots of options to set you up for the day.
Nothing to say, everything was good.
A lovely place to stay, clean bedrooms and warm. The staff were very attentive and friendly. The food was lovely and breakfast was very nice. Great value for money all round.
The male toilets were smelling bad.
It’s not a luxury 5 star hotel but is a very comfortable venue that offers simple accommodation in a very good location with great breakfast and staff.
There isn’t a lift which wasn’t a problemfor us but may be an issue for people with limited mobility.
Staff were welcoming, thoughtful, experienced and efficient.Attention to considered detail in the bedroom.Breakfast was generous and beautifully cooked to order.Whole atmosphere of the hotel was professionally competent and yet warmly calm and informal.
Lovely rooms with comfy beds. Staff were very friendly and helped to sort out room moves etc. In room tea and coffee facilities well stocked. The radio was a nice touch.
It is a very noisy hotel- if you are in a room facing the road you get a lot of road noise. I asked to be moved to a quieter room, which did improve the road noise, although it could still be heard from the room at the bavk of the hotel. There is very little soundproofing between the rooms, so you can hear every door open and close and every time someone moves in the room above you. This was not great when people above me came home at 1am. I also felt very anxious about any noise my dogs made. The car parking is very tight, the spaces are too small to be able to open doors once parked requiring some shuffling of luggage etc.. The bathroom wasnt properly clean with visible dirt around the edges and behind the bins etc. While you can bring your dog/s I wouldn't say the hotel is dog friendly- for toileting etc you have to cross a busy road to an unlit grassy area which didn't feel terribly safe in the dark. The hotel was very warm- even with all the heating in my room turned off I still wanted the windows open, but couldn't given the noise.
Entrance and lounge very welcoming.
A nest of insects in one corner of our room.
Staff, convenience.On site bar. Lounge.
Beds too soft, need new pillows. Disappointed all 4 poached eggs at breakfast well overdone.
The whole place was gorgeous had a grand feeling about it.. The room was a lot bigger than i expected.. Had everything you could need dressing table chairs.. Hair dryer iron and ironing board.. Bathroom was spacious and the shower was powerful .. The bed was so comfy i didn't want to get up
The only negative is there's no lift and no ground floor rooms.. I found the stairs difficult with my disability other than that it was top top..
The hotel is charming, warm and pet friendly. The room was clean and well appointed. The breakfast is great.
Could’ve been made to feel more welcome. My room was tiny, but adequate. Like most old hotels, the floors were creaky and I’m glad I wasn’t below me! The pillows could’ve been more comfortable. I would suggest a small incentive if your guest nominates not to have their room cleaned each day. Perhaps a glass of wine or similar would be good.
