About

Located in acres of scenic grounds next to a medieval Bishop’s palace, The Lamphey Court Hotel is a 19th century Georgian mansion which has a luxury spa, all-weather tennis courts and stylish rooms with views over Pembrokeshire National Park. All rooms have a private bathroom and come with a TV, and some rooms have parkland views. Free on-site parking is available, and free Wi-Fi is also accessible throughout the hotel. The candlelit Georgian Restaurant offers fresh and creative dining, while the informal Conservatory Restaurant serves lighter meals and provides al fresco dining in the summer. Lamphey Court features a 14-yard indoor pool and a state-of-the-art fitness suite. Guests can relax in the herbal sauna, aromatic steam room or spa bath, and a range of indulgent treatments are available. Oakwood Theme Park is just 15 minutes’ drive away, and Manor House Wildlife Park is just a 10-minute drive. Carew and Pembroke Castle are both just 10 minutes’ drive away.

    Pros +

    • Nice location in country side beautiful pub round the corner.
    • Everything about it. Good location, clean room. Nice tasty breakfast. Pleasant staff.
    • Receptionists were very welcoming and kind, particularly when one has to bring a cot to the room after the housekeeping team failed to do so. Pool was lovely although could have been slightly warmer. Breakfast was very good.

    Cons -

    • Needs update breakfast was overcooked no prepared fresh fruit. only water melon. Bath was dirty had to clean it myself before using. The bathroom was up 3 steep steps and very small. Dead Flies and siders in the restaurant windows sils obviously not cleaned as there were for our 3 day stay. No carpet in room had to purchase slippers for us both. There was a gape around the door and blowing gale through it. The room was cold . When I told the lady on reception. She sad have I turned the radiator up . I said I didn't realize I had to do it myself. So so disappointed I cried. I have been wanting to stay in this hotel for the past 30 years. We ended up across the carpark in what seemed to me like chalet at a holiday park. Nothing wrong with that but very much not what we were expecting. This was not what we paid for .The pictures of what we book were very different to what we had. Again when I talk to the lady on reception she said. Those rooms are all full up you have had a upgrade and have a king size bed. I don't think she had ever been in our room as the bed was a small double. We have stayed in 3 stars hotels better that haven been a lot better. I'm so sad I can't believe how disappointed we both are. We will stay in the pub around the corner from now on. Our best friends live in the villages. So we visit quit often.
    • We were put in a family room in a separate building. This room was accessed via very steep steps which did not feel safe whilst carrying a baby, particularly after it rained. It also meant we couldn't take the pram to the room. The cot requested wasn't ready for our arrival. The room was not clean with lots of cobwebs and marks on the walls. There were broken tiles in the bathroom. The large mirror in the main room was not adequately attached to the wall and therefore was not child friendly as we were scared it would fall off. The television unit with drawers/kettle was freestanding and therefore not suitable for small children. As we were forced to be in a "family room", despite not needing it as we simply needed a cot, it was hugely disappointing that the room itself was not safe for children to be in.
    • It was very disappointing. This hotel shouldn't advertise as a 4-star hotel. Everything was old and didn't work - the sofa was sunken, the carpet was dirty and stained and the mattress was old and uncomfortable. The water pressure was so weak that we could hardly shower. The breakfast was simply bland and tasteless. Lastely, the staff were rude and unpleasant.

Location of the hotel was really good, Good pool and activity area, lush green outfields and great approach to the nearby places. Food in the restaurant is good.

The family suite we got was a little outside the main building with scaffolding right outside the door. The Wifi didn't work at all in the outbuilding, room was clean and big but it wasn't worth the amount paid. Could easily get a better place at that price. Breakfast also had very limited options.

Lovely converted manor. Good relaxed dinner. Welcoming and accommodating staff

The rooms were very best western and basic. Little details like having water in the room and having a more comfortable bed would have taken it from good to great. Breakfast was quite awful.

It was a soothing evening when we drove into Lamphey Court, across green meadows and pastureland. What a breath taking sight. The Hotel though dated, still maintain its charm. The reception counter was friendly and helpful, and we had an interesting time exploring the ruins of Bishop Palace that was located walking distance almost next to the Hotel. A stroll along the tree lined country lane was as pleasant as it can be.

The Spa and evening meal was really good

Should have breakfast within the price of the stay. Should not ask me to leave the room at 10.30 if the room was not ready at 3 and was not ready before l went out 3.50

Beautiful hotel in picturesque surrounds.Great staff especially bar and restaurant staff , lady I presume to be bar /restaurant supervisor was lovely and her male bar attendant was very nice too .

Maybe the spa prices , we didn’t partake for that reason .

    Evening meal was nice

No robes available, couldn't use sauna, all treatments cancelled on the day. Rooms run down, dirty with dust and finger prints all over the furniture. The whole place had an air of neglect and the staff were generally apathetic. Very disappointed. Fifth time here and it was awful in comparison to other stays.

Given we had a dog, I sent a quick message on the booking form to ask if that was OK. The staff gave us a cute studio no240 which had parking directly outside and access to grounds for dog. Inside was perfectly comfortable....Nice soft sofa, great bed, bathroom with bath. It helped because we could wash dog down and he had space to move around. We put the dog blanket on the bed and then let him relax while we went to the hotel pool and spa...thatbwas an unexpected bonus which we appreciated. Also, we loved the medieval castle ruin which was next to the hotel. We really could have happily stayed longer and just chilled out at the hotel and grounds. We went for a drink in the maon building bar late evening. Very nice.

There was no kitchen service that night which did not affect us bevmcause we had eaten but for future guests it's a good idea to ask if food is available before arriving.

    The scenery was beautiful

As I approached the entrance, an unpleasant odor reminiscent of a wet dog assaulted my senses, a foreboding sign of what lay ahead. Stepping into the room, I was relieved that the musty scent hadn't followed me, but my relief was short-lived. The room appeared tired and in desperate need of rejuvenation. Dust clung stubbornly to the skirting boards, and in corners where no one was likely to look—behind the television, beside the bedside table, and around the radiators—layers of grime had taken hold, as if it had been forgotten by time. The bed itself was an ordeal, with a mattress that felt more like a slab of concrete than a restful surface. Despite my exhaustion, sleep eluded me, and I even attempted to cancel my second night's stay, only to discover the policy mandated cancellations be made by 4 PM the day prior. The bathroom was a disheartening sight, with a floor that felt uncomfortably sticky beneath my feet and grout marred by unsightly stains and residue. In the corners, black mold thrived around the tub, creating an unsettling environment that made washing up feel more like a chore than a moment of self-care. When I requested fresh towels, one bore ominous stains that dissuaded me from using any of them at all, leaving me feeling more unclean than refreshed.

    Pool and spa were lovely.

The hotel was very old and dated, our room smelt, possibly as we were above the kitchen. A desperate need to upgrade the place would benefit.

Staff were polite and catered for my allergies. They did forget my sausages at breakfast.

The hotel interior is looking tired and dated, the food was terrible, one of our party had mussels, literally in their own juice, no creamy sauce, garlic or parsley in sight, no crusty bread served, attention to detail was poor. Staff were very apologetic but standard was poor for the price we paid. My husband then got food poisoning, second one in a week according to these reviews!!! Bit concerned this is a health hazard, will be reporting to the food standards agency, we had to cut short our visit, didn't get as far as the SPA. Accommodation was comfortable but dated, net curtains that my grandma used to have, open wires in the ceiling light which is dangerous and toilet didn't flush properly.

    5AnnaPosted on: 4-13-2025

The reception/restaurant/bar staff were friendly and accommodating. The spa facilities were nice and very clean.

The showerhead was clogged and all we got was a dribble most of the time, and it actually stopped completely for a few minutes during one shower. We asked someone to look at it, but nothing was done. I took most of my showers in the Spa. While the daily cleaning service was fine, the room itself was a bit on the grubby side. It was overdue for a deep clean or refurbishment.

An excellent location from which to explore the area. Very comfortable room, although clothing storage facilities rather rudimentary… Quite reasonable food, if a little overpriced. Our stay was not long enough to try the sports facility, which was clearly very popular.
