Novar Arms Hotel

I only chose accommodation and the room was quiet, comfortable and clean. The staff were pleasant, helpful and friendly. The hotel in general had a homely, country atmosphere. I would recommend it to other potential guests.

Breakfast and dinner in the bar were very good.

The Duvets on the beds were too small and there were no extra bed coverings. Also, pillows were foam which were not good.

I wanted to stay longer but wasn’t available.

It was in the centre of the village. Car park across the road was free.

Room no 2. Room service appeared only once during my stay. My towels were left on the floor to be changed then rehung on the towel rail by the housekeeping. So I had same towels all through my stay. The room left a lot to be desired. No Chair, so had to sit on the bed to watch TV. The wardrobe was difficult to open and shut doors. On arrival, the main light was flashing when I switched it on. The flush button for the toilet popped off on the first time I used it. Around the window frames are filthy. The fire door to go downstairs, needed Garth to open it... I know its got to be kept shut, but I think it could be altered to make it easier to open. In The dining room, everything was good, except for each meal, it is accompanied by chips. Would be nice to have a choice of having roast potatoes or mash potatoes. Very limited choice on the menu. Tables were clean but felt horrendously sticky, possibly due to having been varnished, but was not nice to touch. Dining room staff were very good, and the quantity of food was ideal for hungry people. I was on room only basis and paid £100/day.

Friendly pub atmosphere. Owner Tanya very helpful and all the staff. Breakfast and Evening Meals excellent. Good choice on menu. Rooms warm and comfortable. Nice place to stay for 3 nights with my motorcycle group. Secure parking at rear of hotel.

Convenient location with parking in front and across the road.Dinner was good, breakfast was okay too.

The fire doors are a bit heavyweight...

They place was easy to find and very friendly. The room was small (a single) but clean. Small shower but plenty of hot water. It is a nice walk from the black rock gorge which is well worth a visit.

Great value for money. We had the best night's sleep so far (10 nights in the UK) and we've spent considerably more at other places. The room was not "modern" and there was nothing luxurious about it but it was comfortable, clean and you could actually open her window for fresh air.. Breakfast was great - ordered off a menu, not buffet. Lots of choice and generous portions. (and included in the price of the hotel!). We were happy with everything. It was upstairs from the bar and restaurant,but our room was very quiet.

We asked to change our room as I had hurt my knee and wanted to avoid climbing up two flights of stairs to the original room. The staff were very accommodating and the new room was very small , although it had a double bed the room was very small . The view from the window was a back car park .

The food was very good

The mattress on the bed was very old, springs protruding I had to put two towels under,the owner wasn’t friendly. On leaving didn’t ask us if we enjoyed are stay! Very disappointed.

A very good sized room with a pretty view over a lovely cottage garden. The breakfast was first class with everything you could possibly want. We really like the location of the hotel with some great walks for our dog. Will definitely stay here again!

The only negative was the window in the bedroom was difficult to open any wider.

Staff were so friendly and helpful. Room was comfortable and clean. Great nights sleep. Restaurant was lovely, light, relaxed, clean. Food was amazing - we had dinner, and breakfast. Both absolutely fabulous Wish we had booked for longer.

There wasn't a great deal we didn't like. The only issue we encountered was being on the top floor as there were a lot of stairs to carry our luggage up and down. But the room was quiet due to its location.
