    Pros +

    • The excellent evening meal in the hotel restaurant.
    • Great service on reception, sorted out a booking mistake , and rectified, much appreciated, also discussed things and points of interest for my next visit, excellent
    • Clean and fully equipped shared kitchen space with everything you need to cook. Clean fridges with space for your food. Really nice lounge space with wooden panelling. Parking lot was pretty empty during my stay so it was easy to find a spot. Bedroom was clean and tidy and there were power points and lights on each bunk. I think the wifi was decent which is rare for a YHA. Showers are better than many other YHAs as they have doors so the entire floor is not drenched. Overall a comfortable and very practical place to stay. The female staff memeber who greeted me on my arrival was extremely friendly and helpful and let me use the self-catering kitchen while I was waiting.

    Cons -

    • All ok
    • Room doors slammed loudly so there was a lot of noise from the corridors while trying to sleep. A senior staff member was abrasive and hostile towards me when he saw me using the self-catering kitchen despite another staff member saying I could. This seemed unnecessary as he could've just spoken respectfully and this confrontation made me uncomfortable and put a damper on my whole stay.

Yes the cleaning was good and the room was okay I got my own Breakfast in the Breakfast room All the plates cup and cutlery was there to use so that was good also the people that came to stay were Friendly to me and I got on well with most of them.

The way I was treated by staff on Duty. I missed the first night but rang in before to say I Had been ill and couldn't make it on the first night and would I get a refund they said no. Because I had booked it with Booking.com instead of the YHA I didn't know this and asked if could stay Extra Day as three days were paid for they said no which upset me a bit but next time will book with YHA Well thats about it for now look forward to seeing you again.

An amazing location, we loved Swanage. The hostel was very close to the city centre, in a nice building, clean and comfortable. We will definitely stay here again!

Staff were kind enough to move me into a room with a double bed, which is what was originally booked. The shower was piping hot. Sheets were clean and the mattress softRoom was warm

That the original room booked is not the one I received on arrival. The sound of noisy school kids on the same corridor, although it wasn't that bad, and staff explained I would be on this floor with a school group.

Pleasant bedroom and attractive communal areas. Friendly and helpful receptionist.Good breakfast. Good bike storage.Flexibility with check-in timing.

Some hooks in the bedroom - esp as no storage spaces.Same in the shower - made it uncomfortable to use - had to leave items on floor outside.Bedside lights are very bright, and 11pm is rather late for the curfew.Better-quality bread for breakfast would be a plus.Exceptionally loud doors.

Large breakfast, very friendly staff, secure bike shed. Overall good quality facilities, including kitchen, showers, toilet etc and great location.

Barely any ventilation in the room. We had 8 men sleeping in the same room, all sweaty and smelly. We could only open one of the windows 10cm or so.

Convenient location. Wonderful views. Relaxed atmosphere. Much more homely than a modern budget hotel.

The windows in our room had been restricted so there was limited ventilation. Check in at 5pm is a little late.

The property had high ceilings and large windows giving it an open and airy feel. There were great facilities including a large self service kitchen with several fridges, 2 microwaves,2 sinks etc, a dining room where cooked breakfast was served and a lounge to relax in. There was seating in the kitchen ( and although it was busy at certain times of the morning) there was the possibility to sit outside on benches as the weather was so good. The location is great about 5 mins walk from the centre ( although it is up a steep hill) and about 15 mins walk from the bus terminal. The girls dorm was a big room and a good size for 6. I wasn’t sure that the 4 toilets and 6 showers would be enough for the number of rooms on our floor but I never had an issue. All areas I used were super clean. Staff were on hand mornings and evenings and were friendly and approachable.

The only negative view I had about the place was that there were only 2 dorm rooms ( male and female) and the rest of the rooms were private rooms. I guess it just goes against my understanding of what a hostel is. Not sure how many backpackers were unable to get an affordable bed as a result. But it didn’t affect me as I was able to book for the nights I wanted.

Very friendly and helpful staff. The room we were allocated had an incredible view of the sea! Watching the sunrise out of the sea every morning was a beautiful experience!Perfect location to visit Swanage as well. Lovely breakfast! Would definitely recommend to stay here!

Room was quite hot during the night, even with the window open there was little ventilation

Booked the day before as we wanted to extend our current stay in the area. Looking for somewhere not too expensive, walking distance to the beach and a safe area with parking, this ticked all the boxes
