Pros +
- This old hotel has been around a long time and has no doubt served a lot of travellers. There was a covered place to park our bicycles overnight which was okay but was not really secure. The proprietor was very friendly and helpful and the bar downstairs looked to be a local favorite. This was adequate for our needs for one night of shelter but no more.
- The staff were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the meal we had that evening. The water was lovely and hot
- Ideal location for a family visit, also not far from Bude.
Cons -
- Unfortunately our room was really cold. There was a radiator in the room but it wasn't giving out any heat and the night was a cold one.
- The heater in the room didn’t work and we were very cold
- Specified room heating was an electric radiator which meant the room was freezing on arrival/during, this created a damp feel to room(Electric radiator, no central heating), blood marks and handprints on bathroom door and bathroom, blood covered toilet roll, mould on shower ceiling, poor shower heating regulation, 2 water bottles in room however one was 3/4 full(Looks like someone had a drink), the specified tea and coffee machine was a kettle which technically is correct, however this is a misleading description. All marks blood and mould were easily removed by the bar staff with a damp cloth. Very overpriced for the facility’s provided. There weren’t any staff members when we checked out for us to speak too to voice our concerns.

I didn't have breakfast, location suited me
Cold shower
The staff were all friendly as well as the local people, and good food and beer at a very reasonable price
Location was perfect,in town lots to see and do only a few miles from Cornwall. Best of both worlds.
Spiral narrow staircase. Rooms were dusty wiring looked very dodgy by kettle TV etc. But my biggest problem was the bed! The mattress I could feel every square spring and it dipped to the sides it was so old and uncomfortable. Unfortunately I would not recommend.
Lovely breakfast at The Corner Cafe across the road. The White Hart were so attentive and welcoming and we really enjoyed our stay.
Great value for money, clean and comfortable, great location
I love old buildings, but I wasn't prepared for the narrow, steep and turning staircase.everything was clean, but sadly barely adequate. The staff were friendly. The food served in the pub was actually quite good after we decided to try it, although we almost didn't bother.
My head was lower than my feet when laying down on the bed. we had to put the pillows at the foot of the bed and sleep the other way round. No mention of the difficult staircase, one has to navigate to reach the bedrooms. The room was barely basic and in need of some care and attention. The curtain pole was not straight and didn't have ends, so the curtain came off one end when I first closed it. There is no light by the mirror on the dressing table and only one bedside light (room sleeps 3)Only one chair and no table. only one bedside table. The facilities ticked the boxes and would be perfect for tradesman who just need a to crash out to sleep after working a 12 hour day. that said there was no breakfast offering, so even tradesmen would think twice. The room information and menu is out of date with old prices on the menu.
the location was good - small town centre. It was quiet. The staff were helpful.
The carpets were unclean. The wallpaper was peeling off the wall. The beds were basic, as were the shower. The paint was peeling off.
This hotel offers excellent value for the price. The room is quiet and well-equipped with all the essentials.
The curtains let in too much light, the bed was too soft, and I couldn’t get a good night's sleep.
Had breakfast in cafe across the road was a loverly friend up my boy had jam on toast
Parking caught me out as no car park with hotel had to pay for a 24 hour parking ticket each day
Ashley, who greeted us when we arrived was extremely efficient, she and the good food for dinner were the only positives to be found at this hotel.
The hotel was filthy. the room was noisy. The stairs were almost impossible to negotiate.
The staff we dealt with, Steph and Ashley, were amazing. Couldn’t do enough for us. We left a wallet behind and they were onto it very quickly. The reviews were very flattering and we were quite disappointed when we arrived. It needs a major overhaul. The bar was not somewhere we wanted to spend too much time. The room and bathroom were clean but there was an odour everywhere.
Hard to know where to start. It smells everywhere. Lots of maintenance very overdue.
it was quite at night
carpet torn, paper coming off the walls, hitting my head on the wall as the stair get very very narrow when ascending.
Convenient location for purpose. Friendly atmosphere, good food.
Rather low entrance to attic room, although once in plenty of space.
Cheap and convenient.
The stairs were steep. Fine for me but could be difficult for some.
Linen and towels clean
Tired decoration and furnitureCarpet poor hall carpet dirty Food had looked good but ours was poor my lasagna was an insult.
Excellent continental breakfast and staff advised that full English breakfast available at several outlets in walking distance- very helpful friendly attentive staff
Nothing - everything and everyone were exceptional. There was absolutely nothing that could be faulted!
Excellent location for the event we were attending. Good food and friendly staff
The staircase would be difficult for some as it was narrow and very steep. Nothing that can be altered due to age of building.
