Pros +
- Friendly staff and everything was clean and comfy
- Comfy bed, really clean, toasty warm (it was November) and loads of space. The location was perfect - we like the restaurant in the pub so it was ideal to be staying on the premises. Also it was close to where friends were staying. Every time we've been to the Bear we've had a good experience - such friendly staff. It was also dog friendly - a big plus.
- Great pub in a great location with a decent size and comfortable room
Cons -
- This wasn't a dislike, far from it, but if you're tall - be aware that there are low beams and low headroom on the stairs. It's an old property so this was part of the character and didn't bother us, but if you're not careful you might bump your head. It was all part of the charm.
- The toilet lid and shower door were slightly broken. They still function but were slightly broken.
- Maybe needs a bit of a refresh in the bathroom.

The wonky floor; closeness to food store and very close to parking!
Love the room, The loft is comfortable and spacious.Staff were lovely, very welcoming and friendly. Food was good.
Maybe needs a bit of a refresh in the bathroom.
It's a lovely listed building, with the quirks that come from being so old, narrow staircase etc. Food was excellent and staff were incredibly friendly. Look forward to staying again.
It's right in the centre of town, and it was a very busy weekend, so a bit noisy. Nothing they can do about that, and we were expecting it.
The location was ideal as didn’t need to use the car . Food in restaurant was really good .
Room very small better suited for one person . Noise from pub below and bad sleep . Coffee stains on bedside cabinet . Had to ask for door handle to be fixed as was loose but to be fair this was done straight away .
Nice staff,nice size room
Cobwebs, floor on a slight slide, bathroom just a bit small
The evening meals were very good. Staff were friendly
Did not like having to get up before 8 in order to pay for parking. Bathroom too small and not very clean. Everything was shabby chique with emphasis on shabby The. Staircase was quirky and unsafe. Too expensive.
The location was good
The property was tired in side, also we had a noise from their cooler going off every 5 times an hour.So very poor sleep..
Great location, restaurants and bars close by and friendly
Yet again unfortunately the weather
Super staff - very friendly and helpful. excellent food promptly served.
Staff gave us a key so we could come and go whenever we liked.
I paid for 3 beds and asked for a fold-out to cover the 4 people staying. Staff assured me this would be organised whilst we were out. We returned late at night to find two beds ready to sleep in, one with no sheet or duvet (unmade) and no fold-out. This meant I had to sleep on the floor.Bathroom had a smell like the drains were backing up.
The staff were friendly and helpful and everything worked. Had to watch my head a bit going upstairs because I'm tall, but the food was good (had the fish burger).
Nothing to dislike. Slept like a log.
Staff were amazing! Lovely, friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. Food was great, this was particularly appreciated as the team cater for vegans, and gluten free vegans at that, as standard. Millionaires shortbread was fabulous.
Location was great. Staff and food on site was lovely.
The bedroom is "on a wonk" and the mattress felt like it was 2 inch's thick. Very difficult to get comfortable at night.
Strong heritage with the age of the Inn. Freedom to come and go throughout the duration of the stay, even at night time. The staff were lovely, very welcoming! The location was stunning both the countryside and the village - the car park across the way was secure enough to lock up 5 motorbikes worth over £50k with absolutely no bother too!
The furnishing was a bit dated with a few things broken, but the general age and look did fit the inn well - it would probably look unusual with brand new modern furnishings.
Nice friendly pub
I was in the loft room very hot, small ache on unit but didn’t do much
Good location
Parking is opposite in council run car park but reasonably priced
Great location, friendly staff
Old building to get upstairs to rooms
