    Pros +

    • Great swimming pool n lovely grounds. Really helpful staff. Good breakfast

    Cons -

    • My room was cold, radiators were not working. I asked several times and was told they were just switched on. The shower head had no fixings so it was on the floor and you had to hold it with one hand whilst washing. I got locked out of my room 6 times, as the key card stopped working. Also the food menu was poor, no healthy choices only burgers and fish and chips. Very repetitive when you are staying for 2 nights. Not what is shown on the website when you download the menu. I asked to move rooms, but told there was none available. Finally there was no kettle, but tea and coffee facilities in the room. However this was rectified as soon as I asked.
    • The big problems that we had were that we were in room 25 which was a 4 poster suite. The bedroom to the suite is right next to the top of the stairs with just a standard door permanently locked the only way of blocking any noise. The bed has also been put right next to the door meaning whilst trying to sleep you could hear conversations at the front desk and quite literally every single guest coming up and down the stairs, meaning we barely slept. I asked about if other rooms were available but I was told the room was at 100% occupancy. The four poster bed is also extremely squeaky so when we did sleep if either of us turned over in our sleep (when we got to sleep) it woke us both up, plus it was valentine's but there was no chance of any extra curricular activities happening as I said before if we could hear every conversation and footstep of all guests then they could hear us.
    • Hotel and leisure staff were friendly enough but not very helpful. Breakfast staff very good and quick friendly service.

The room was spacious and very clean, in keeping with an old manor house setting. A large private bathroom was within the room.

The toilet in the bathroom was adjacent to a large front facing window, not frosted glass, so you couldn't use the toilet without pulling the blind down. Breakfast was cold, despite being "cooked" to order, but that was refunded so no problem.

I liked the fact the property was close to where we were all weekend, I also like the fact there was parking

It was run down and dirty, the room I was in (room 16) was way too hot due to all the pipes running through it, so couldn’t turn them down. The shower was missing a door, no plug on the right hand side of the bed for the bedside lamp, not sure why they even put an unplugged lamp there! Poor positioning of the mirror above the desk, not ideal when trying to do make up or hair for the cheer comp. Bed mattress was hard, this may suit some people.

It looks grand from the outside.

The bedrooms were very dated with wallpaper falling off. The bed was extremely uncomfortable

Location was great Receptionist was lovely

It was a little tired but I understand new owners have lots of plans There was also a lot of dirty bedding in the hall way and the rooms were a little difficult to find but once in very clean and comfortable

When I arrived the gentleman at the reception was very friendly and polite.

Sadly many things let the hotel down. When walking to my room it was very dilapidated, lots of cobwebs and scuffed paint and damp walls. The room smelt very musty, the shower was either scolding hot or freezing cold. The bed wasn't particularly comfortable however the sheets were clean.

We have stayed before so knew what to expect

We had booked a twin room but when we arrived we were given a double. Then at breakfast my tea/coffee order was taken but didn't materialize for ages. Other people who were seated after us, got served 1st

Swimming pool was nice, staff were nice, breafast was ok, location is nice and the hall itself its stunning

Were not told upon booking that all family rooms are in a seperate building, booked to stay in the hall to admire its period features but unable to. We booked a room for 3 people, to be greeted with only 2 towels in the room, asked at reception if it was possible for another towel they said they would bring one to the room, this never happened and we ended up using handtowel for third person, we asked at breakfast on the saturday morning if we can have 3 fresh towels for when we return on saturday night, the reception staff said yes no problem, housekeeping will sort it out today, we returned late saturday night to no new towels and the room untouched by house keeping, ended up going to reception at 6am to get fresh towels. Mattresses need replacing in room 54 was like sleeping on a flat pancake, the hall has just been taken over and the first thing you would of thought to replace is the mattresses. upon arrival i went to the spa to use the pool this was 6:45pm the spa closes at 8:30pm i asked for a robe to be told no as they had all been washed for tomorrow and the staff member didnt have time to wash and dry it if i used it ! this was unacceptable but i had been travelling all day and just wanted to swim, i asked for a towel instead to be handed a hand towel :( i just asked for two and went for a swim. Breakfast, this was ok, i had already asked upon booking if a cooked vegan breakfast could be provided upon booking and the answer was yes, we sat and ordered the two meat breakfasts came within 10 mins of ordering, bacon was nice poached eggs were alittle undercooked and left the plate swimming in water resulting in the bottom of the crispy topped hashbrowns having soggy bottoms :( tomatos had a fishy taste and the mushrooms needed to be washed before cooking as just tasted like mud. Vegan breakfast came out after 20 mins at this point meat breafasts were finised and we were running late.Coffee, not filtered just instand in a fancy pot.

Beautiful place staff were very helpful and polite.

My shower didn’t work so had to use another room to shower. No glass in room to drink and water from but very enjoyable

    5LyndaPosted on: 2-5-2026

The staff were excellent, tried to sort TV that wouldn't work. Offered for us to change rooms but only a smaller double, I had requested a twin. So we declined the alternative they did offer us a complimentary drink for the inconvenience. So I can't fault the staff. The beds were very comfortable and clean as were the towels. We know the hotel from previous years, plenty of parking

An extra convector heater supplied, the plug got very hot. We switched it off potentially a fire hasard. Could not shower in the morning as the temperature of the water was too hot and we were unable to adjust even letting the water run which is a waste. Carpet could do with a clean, stained. We did advise reception staff on our departure of these issues, not as a complaint but constructive feedback.
