- The location and staff
Cons -
- The food service was very slow and the staff seemed inexperienced and had no idea how to talk to customers in a professional manner.
- It’s in desperate need of refurbishing-every single wall was painted dark industrial grey with light grey ceilings and black furniture with tatty dark grey carpet and the yellow unironed curtains.
- Dinner in evening was a little disappointing, room basic but clean with a good shower

The location and staff
It’s in desperate need of refurbishing-every single wall was painted dark industrial grey with light grey ceilings and black furniture with tatty dark grey carpet and the yellow unironed curtains.
Breakfast was great, really nicely cooked and friendly staff member
Dinner in evening was a little disappointing, room basic but clean with a good shower
Bar and location. Great breakfast
Damp coming through in bedroom with musty damp smell. No draught beer.
The room was absolutely beautiful, very clean and warm!! The staff were all very welcoming and friendly and the food was beautiful. Very good value for money and very tasty.
If we are being very picky the mattress was a little hard and a few touch ups on the decor is needed.
Nice restaurant, had a tasty meal.Amazingly clean bathroom.
Very disappointing overcooked English Breakfast (all 3 of us in the party!)Room was airless & there seemed to be no way to open a window.
Great location. We stayed half board, £25 spend for evening meal which was unexpected. Breakfast in the morning was excellent.
Rooms a little dated but good value for price.
Travelling from London, we used this hotel as it was close to Lapland Manchester, good value compared to few others closer and offered breakfast included. It is set in a quite road next/over a nice pub. on the day we stayed there was a private function which meant the kitchen was closed and limited food. Despite the private function, we had no noise issues at all and had a good night sleep. Breakfast was good offering both continental options and an a la cart menu to choose from. Would I stay here? Yes I think I would.
Room did not feel hot enough but it was a very cold weekend.
Good location
Jumped up member of staff mincing around in his too tight waistcoat seemed to have little man syndrome, that and bad breath.
Very clean and food was beautiful
It took so long to get a drink even though it wasn’t busy the bar staff didn’t seem to rush and kept you waiting it took almost half an hour to get a drink
We find the dark grey interiors rather depressing, but if you ignore the decor the staff are very helpful, and the location perfect for anyone travelling up or down the M6. The hotel is badly in need of an uplift, which we understand is on its way.
The decor. Menu is unimaginative.
Location and staff, I feel for the staff who are trying their best.
Hotel is in administration so it’s not being looked after. Rooms and furniture in a poor state. I have stayed here a few times and it’s sad to see it run down.
Location close to M6 Friendly staff. Nice food, helpful with providing for a coeliac
The location is 10 minute walk to the village , set in lovely surroundings. Staff all polite comfortable beds
The bed rooms and ensuite are tired and certainly not deluxe . A few basic changes could transform the room. Some storage in the bathroom and a heated towel rail would prevent the room looking like public toilet and feeling damp . The cleaning could be a lot better. The windows in our room were filled with cobwebs and needed a good clean with hot soapy water. The carpet was thin easily remedied with some decent underlay. The main bedroom wall had lots of stains and marks on it The wifi needs updating. It was useable for 5mins then threw you off. The rooms could be so much better they just needs some love and attention
The pub below was nice , staff pleasant
Room was dark, lighting bad to to make up etc, Carpet was thread bear, stained old stair carpets, old bathroom with no heating, fan didn’t take mist off mirror atall, paint peeling from ceiling
Clean room, comfortable bed, very dark (great for a lie in!!), ideal location for walking into Holmes Chapel
Walls are very thin, bathroom could do with a little TLC
Staff were pleasent.
Couldn’t sleep due to banging of doors, not just occasionally but must have happened over 50 times. Plus shouting outside our room again during the night. Felt shattered the next day. Was really looking forward to our stay but wish we’d stayed at our daughters on their sofa.
Great welcome, nice bar, great breakfast
Paper thin walls with adjoining room doors giving no noise privacy at all
Great location. In countryside, but only minutes away from motorway. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Rooms are in need of an upgrade. Although they are clean paintwork and furnishings could do with updating. No usb points.
