Pros +
- The food, cleanliness, our room, the staff, everything!
- The staff and location
- Room was nice, staff were nice, clean and in a lovely little village. Bar area nice and breakfast good
Cons -
- Arrived at 12.30 hotel was not even open to leave luggage. Thought we could also have lunch/snack there. Disabled access very poor, loads of steps for elderly parents to get to there room plus outside to get to room and dark.
- Curt reception on arrival, but nevertheless efficiently processed.Premises are "shabby sheik" & give the impression of a lack of management effort to improve/maintain standards.
- We had a twin room rather than a double, but it was comfortable. The shower curtain needs to be replaced with proper screens - it flaps around when the shower is in use.

Lovely location, beautiful old building. Great food. Very cheerful & helpful breakfast chef.
Good full English breakfast, but limited cereal choice & no apparent alternative to full English. The breakfast experience was made much better by an exceptionally cheerful waitress. The evening meal was very good.

Breakfast was delicious Evening meal was delicious Proprietors were friendly
The staff were all very helpful and attentive. The food in the restaurant was great- I had the venison, beautiful. Probably the best pint of Theakstons Best Bitter ever...and I have tried a few. Very friendly atmosphere, and a "chocolate box" village.

Hi I booked about 6 months ago, I booked 2 twin rooms, but they said there was only 1 twin and 1 double, and asked me to ring to change it to 2 twin rooms for same price, but when I went to pay it went up from £47 to £55 pp
Breakfast was good
Fantastic find, great location, excellent staff, amazing food.
That I had to leave
Easy to find, beautiful location, safe free parking, great staff, good food and drinks, very quiet, rooms great facilities, fantastic breakfast.
Nil. All good
The staff were extremely helpful and very kind went above and beyond to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Beautiful location and great food. It’s a grade 2 listed building so don’t expect modern plush interiors but absolutely everything you need and very clean and friendly.
Great food and very friendly staff. Always happy to help.
Sorry the room smelt a bit from dogs so when you are not a dog owner yourself and come from a pet free house, you notice it. Maybe some rooms could be pet free.
Food was excellent and hosts extremely friendly and welcoming.
Room was not overly clean and bathroom very dated.
Very nice lady for breakfast think they called her tia
Very small room,bathroom a challenge
The location of this property is out the way, perfect for what we required, beautiful location and roads that lead to it. Food was outstanding, and should I ever find my way in their direction again I would definitely be booking a table. The owner is an excellent host and breakfast was beautiful too.
The prices for the rooms seem off. My first stay was around £80, and was clearly the dog friendly room (room 8) as I could smell wet dog and the carpet was covered in black hair, which I managed to scrape up with my trainers! But the room was comfortable. The second time I stayed I had a much bigger brighter room (room 6) and this was much less around £67, again very comfortable. The bathrooms are a little tired looking (chipped painted shelf) but practical and again the carpets all look like they just need a good hoover!! For practicality maybe swap them for wood/vinyl flooring.
Beautiful location, lovely rooms, great friendly helpful staff and the food is amazing, I had Venison which melted in the mouth, breakfast was excellent great choice and good quality. I stayed with a group of 7 lady bikers, and they looked after us very well.
That we only stayed one night.
Iovely village with quite a history to be found in the chapel next to the castle ruins.
Nothing to report
+ cosy room+ very friendly staff+ nice pub+ lovely village+ free parking behind the building+ good located for daytrips to the Dales
- nothing
Loved the location, the Inn was quaint.Room decorated well. Hot shower. Good cooked breakfast.
The bed mattress was really hard and uncomfortable. Not a lot of choice for breakfast if you don't want a full English. Pastries and fruit would have been appreciated.
Absolutely wonderful stay here, attentive, friendly staff, amazing home cooked food & a really gorgeous room. A* stay .
Nothing to dislike!
