Pros +
- Excellent breakfast included, very good value, central location in Hawes
- This place was actually closed as a pub when we went in February 2026, but still offers good value B&B. A sign on the door directs you to the Cocketts Hotel just next door, where you collect your keys. Breakfast was served at the Cocketts also, and it was a lovely cooked breakfast. I think we had the Board Inn to ourselves whilst there, as we appeared to be the only guests staying then. We had a lovely quiet room at the back, with a kettle etc for teas and coffees. We visited the Wensleydale Creamery, just a short walk away, and bought some cheeses.
- Lovely room, great breakfast and excellent staff. Emma was so friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the Board Inn only opens Fri-Sat so we stayed next door in the Cocketts Hotel who have an agreement with the Board, but this was no problem. As the Cocketts hotel doesn't do evening meals we went to the Crown pub which is only 2 doors up where they do decent evening meals.
Cons -
- Difficult to park in the evening due to pub patrons
- There was really nothing major to report here. For the price we paid, we got excellent value for our money. Hawes is a lovely village and this place is ideal for setting off. Bus stop just outside, and plenty of shops to buy stuff including sandwiches etc. The Crown Inn, another pub just next door, was open for business but sadly no food on a Monday and Tuesday. The Fountain pub nearby is a good place for beers and meals next to a cosy fire. Parking might be an issue on Tuesdays, as it's their Market Day.
- All ok.

Great location for visiting Hardraw Falls and Aysgarth Falls for 10th wedding anniversary. Cosy warm pub, reasonable prices and helpful, pleasant lady behind the bar. Rooms clean and warm. Great hub to explore the Dales and a further 3/4 on your doorstep! Oh and breakfast included is lovely!
Loved everything, shower is great just not much room to manoeuvre with the shower curtain up against you as the shower head is adjacent to the curtain over the bath.
Greeted with a warm welcome and a good laugh. Room was a good size , plenty of storage , tea coffee and biscuits. En suite bathroom. My wife is Gluten Free and there was a separate table with toaster. Bread , cereals etc. not seen that before in a B&B. Highly recommend
Very comfy and relaxing room in excellent situation in the centre of Hawes.Decent beer and a lovely open fire in the bar.Excellent breakfast next door. Will go back on next road-trip.
TV remote not remoting !
Very friendly welcome from Julia, the room met our expectations for a typical pub bed & breakfast. We would stay again.
Everything. From the moment we stepped into the pub Julia looked after us. The Standard double room was warm, very clean and had everything we needed. Tea/Coffee bits, hairdryer, bath/shower, tray for mucky walking boots. Breakfast is served at the hotel next door, literally a 30 second walk, selection was so good and the full English was lovely and filling. Again the team couldn't do enough and were so warm and friendly. The Board Inn is in the heart of Hawes and central to great walks in all directions. Parking is available directly outside the pub, but if all spots are taken there is parking available across the road. Lovely little bargain of a place.
Nothing!
Great price, friendly staff. Great location
Actually stayed in Cocketts. A great hotel. Clean and really great set up in the room. Emma and the chef ( didn't get his name!) really friendly and helpful. Cute cat too.
Central location. Very convenient when using public transport
It was a shame that the bar was shut, but there are two pubs nearby.
Lovely rooms - our room was a double. My son had a single with separate bathroom just down the stairs. Very clean up everything we needed - fabulous breakfast served nextdoor all included in the very reasonable price. Lovely owners/management. Dog friendly too!
Fantastic price lovely breakfast warm and welcoming staff great location
Ease of checkin/out and friendly staff.Lovely breakfast this morning.albeit next door in crockets.
We didn’t actually stay in the board inn, we stayed next door at the Cockets hotel. It was comfortable and staff were lovely. The breakfast was exceptionally good
There wasn’t anything we didn’t like
Breakfast fantastic, room comfortable, cleanish.
Couldn’t turn radiator off at TRV? Stayed on until morning.
Breakfast was excellent as was the range of beers available. The owner was very friendly and funny.
The bed was a little uncomfortable and the room was a little cold. However, to be expected in an old building in freezing conditions!
When we got there we was allocated next door to a small hotel . Nice lounge and dining room breakfast was very nice good choice.
Didn’t like the bed and needed a touch up of paint
The staff were friendly. Tgere were plenty places to eat from pup food to cafes. Good amenities tge wee market was small but ok.
Quite noisy from upstairs however when I fell asleep I was fine. Toilet a bit cold as no heating in there. Being a 2 star it was good enough fir our needs.
Breakfast wasn't served in the pub, had to go next door to The Coquet Hotel, it was excellent.
Pub isn't open on a Monday. Had to go to the pub next door - The Crown - for evening meal (although I was given 30% discount off my meal because I was staying at The Board).Shared bathroom was down half flight of stairs & it was freezing cold - radiator had been turned off.
