    • Everything about this place was so incredible…like stepping back in time. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, and the service was outstanding.
    • Olde world pub with high-end touches. The staff were friendly and the food was top notch
    • Saving grace evening meal and staff were good.

    Cons -

    • Be prepared that the rooms are quite small for two people, but definitely workable. And the experience of being in such a charming location was WELL WORTH IT!!
    • I paid good money for a 2 nights stay. Room was dirty so was the bathroom. Left a sign on the door to clean the room it didn't happen. Breakfast was a farce. Cold tea and coffee /cold toast. Shame really as the location is good. Needs a good shake up. Saving grace evening meal and staff were good.
    • On arrival it took us half an hour to park!!! The park surface was full of potholes,it is also shared with the viewing point for a waterfall, which is situated behind the hotel. It makes parking almost impossible. When we eventually booked in,i told the member of staff who booked us in how long it had taken us to park, and he just laughed, and said it can be like that. The main road in the village at the front of the hotel is packed solid with cars in each direction, the local residents must love it. We had a two night stay and ate their both nights, because there is nowhere else to eat unless you travel into Hawes which is about a mile away. The weather was very snowy during our stay,so we didn't fancy driving, plus there would be nowhere to park when you got back!! The food wasn't good, the breakfast was greasy,i had a roast dinner, probably one of the worst i've ever eaten. I did think the food was expensive, but where is'nt these days. I don't think we made a very good choice with this one,you live and learn.

Lovely place, food and staff were great and our bedroom was lovely, big comfy bed and cracking shower. Very dog friendly, thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Also saw a red squirrel from our bedroom window.

The rooms are fantastic, warm, comfortable, massive tv, superbly furnished.

The staff are not particularly friend or polite.

From the moment we arrived until the moment we left we had a fantastic stay. Food, location, staff, decor, room, even the weather (snow) was fantastic. We have stayed in many pubs over the years but hands down this pub was the best !!! We will definitely return.

    Nothing it was all perfect

Very friendly. Great breakfast. Fantastic location!

Leak in the bathroom meant I couldn't have a shower the first evening but it was resolved promptly for the next evening.

Parking too small. Weather could have been better!

What a gem of a place in the middle of rambling hills. The rooms have clearly been recently refurnished and are large, spacey and have everything you could need including coffee grains and percolator and bottled water. The evening meals are simply amazing - very large portions, clearly home cooked and served with a smile. You can have a delicious breakfast of your choice served in front of a roaring fire and again served with a smile. Delightful overnight stay, can highly recommend.

This was our 3rd or 4th stay cottage pie is the best for a cold winters evening..

The room we had was very small no bedside cabinets which we found very strange.. also I have mentioned this before but could do with complimentary shower caps..

Great location. Lovely atmosphere and great room.

Awful tea at breakfast! Can’t make decent tea from thermos flask. Needs to be from freshly boiled water.

    6NatalePosted on: 1-30-2026

Location and room lovely Food and drinks expensive and average. Breakfast slow to come out and cold. No toast available unless its with cooked breakfast. No tea and coffee readily available at breakfast.Staff are young and inexperienced, not overly friendly. Older staff overheard moaning about it being busy and having loads of work left to do....I get it but I dont want to hear it on my break away from all the work and stuff I need to do!Check in is at 4pm so asked for an earlier check in on the phone and was told to come at 1pm and I could have a complimentary early check in however if someone had booked the night before then I would need to pay 20 quid which was fine. So got there earlier than planned and was told we couldn't have an early check in so we had to wait so had to wait 3 hours in the bar! I was sloshed by the time check in came round....wanted to have a nice bath and enjoy the room and the peace away from home, work kids!Next morning around 7.30am the music was banged on and this woke us up! Very loud from downstairs which I expect to hear noise from guests having breakfast but not booming music. Was disappointed overall as I was really looking forward to a decent night away after xmas to relax and unwind

Staff could have been more experienced at customer service, more engaging, friendlier and more communicative Dont promise early check in and then not deliver Improve breakfast service

Best in Yorkshire! Fabulous place & becoming a regular go to. Cannot wait to return. Food & atmosphere excellent. And always a ripping fire after a long cold walk. Amazing!

The entire stay was faultless. This is an amazing place and the accomodation was brilliant. Breakfast was brilliant as you could sit wherever you liked in the Inn. Staff were very helpful but not imposing.

I cannot think of one thing that could have improved our stay.

The location was amazing the property was cosy we like the personal touches and hope skip and jump to the pub it felt like a very special place indeed

A bit small if staying longer would order two separate ones instead and would reserve a fireplace view seat in the pub next time if in winter again
