- the location was very good
- The dinner was very good. There was a kitchenette in the room which we hadn't realized.
- Super cosy and clean rooms, staff were EXCEPTIONAL. Lovely good quality breakfast - staff so accommodating to cook whatever you wish. Loads of recommendations for our planned hikes, real friendly, warm and family-like environment. Staff allowed us to check out late so we could have a kip after our sunrise hike, got a takeaway one night and staff assisted with crockery, just everything about this place was fantastic. Could recommend enough.
Cons -
- The hotel was drastically in need of an update , the rooms were dirty and need re furbishing
- Thecarpets we're filthy. We could have used some Kleenex, more soap etc.

The staff were very helpful, friendly and professional. Nice atmosphere.
Food was great.Staff were amazing and accommodating.Great atmosphere in the pub.Good bathroom.
Room was dusty and needed a clean in places.
Loved the room, done out nicely and comfy bed. Food was great too from the pub.
Very friendly staff, went the extra mile, food was top notch and so was the customer service, felt like somehow I was abroad.
I liked the fact the restaurant was a part of the var however we didnt get any food as the Kellybank was better.
We arrived at 3pm to the whole place shut up tight even though there were signs saying open. Finally someone arrived in the carpark and found someone to let us in. The room was cold but the heaters eventually warmed it up. Couldn't get the tv working. We were promused breakfast would be served until 09:30 but when we went at 0900 everything was shut up tight so no breakfast to start our long drive home on. Poor all round.
It was a good location for a wedding in Wasdale
N/A as the guest for whom I booked it dod not say.
The whole experience was amazing at the hotel, from the staff on arrival till the moment I left. The attentiveness, personal touches, politeness and room was great. It had character, depth and personality. location is pretty central to access other parts of the area. There is a lot near by the hotel. Cannot wait to visit again.
Could do with a tidy up and decorated to freshen up..pub on site was okay food nice.
Lovely, comfy room with a lush bathtub. The staff were very friendly and the whole stay was very easy.
Value for money, location, atmosphere and the food
Rooms were basic, but can't complain for the price
First, I want to mention one person who was the absolute highlight of our stay- the chief in the kitchen who cooked breakfast. Unfortunately, I didn't ask his name but he was the most welcoming and sweet person I met there.Coffee capsule machine in the room. The location was very isolated, which we liked, and a 20-minute drive to Wastwater and 10 minutes from Scafell Pike (our target to visit and hike). 2 minutes walk from the hotel you can find a garden centre where you can buy different plants.Seasclae Beach and town are only a 7-minute drive from the hotel (worth visiting too).Nice outside area where you can eat/drink and even play a football.
Unfortunately, the room was extremely small for 2 people and outdated. We stayed in room number 3, which I do not recommend. The mattress was soft and cheap.I wanted to use the table and found it was very dusty, no one wiped it.The bed cover was dusty too when you shake it in the air.The problem started when we realized that we had left a work laptop charger in the room. It took nearly 1 week (!!!!)to contact them, they didn't answer my messages or our calls. Finally, someone answered but had a lack of interest in helping or checking, we offered to pay money to send it to us via post office, which person did but the post office didn't accept to send a charger as it's an electrical item ( doesn't make any sense, but here we go..). It was very important to get the charger back and we kept calling to find any other solution. Then we realized that no one cared there, so we traveled from Staffordshire (which is approx. 3.5 hrs drive one way) to the hotel to pick our charger up and go back. This story took nearly 3 weeks (!!!!). I know if was our fault but we expected a bit better service and collaboration with us, it took so much time to get them to answer the phone.
The staff were amazing, nothing was too much trouble. The location was perfect for us as we were heading to wastwater to go paddle boarding, and the facilities were great. For a bargain price room it had everything we needed. We ate in the restaurant for our evening meal and breakfast, the food was great quality and very well priced.
There was a slight cleanliness issue but the staff were very apologetic and sorted it very quickly.
Fabulous Customer Service. Booked a room for my friends as a treat they were visiting Braystones. We all had a fantastic Sunday dinner, where we were greeted by the chef nice touch. Bar service and waiting on service very friendly. Lovely character building. Would highly recommend. My friends said the room was comfortable and cosy, and breakfast was delicious. Thanks all at the Red Admiral.
It was lovely decor. Warm and cosy. Plenty of parking space. Nice outdoor area for children and dogs.
Rooms were really nice and clean, staff were amazing very helpful and very friendly, nice cosy bar/restaurant area, nice big open beer garden where we enjoyed a few drinks in the sun and the food was superb.
The only issue I had with it was a minor one. On the website it said the bar opened at 12 but didn't state that it closed between 3 and 5 so we turned up just after 4 to have a few drinks in the beer garden to find the bar was closed. The chef was kind enough to serve us a drink each around half 4 once we had checked in and taken our stuff to our room.
Food was top notch, good quality and well prepared. Everyone was very friendly, good location. Great day out in Muncaster Castle near by. Great value for money, id say underrated on booking.com.
Booked this hotel as a quick 1 night stop over on a budget. It is an isolated pub just outside of Gosforth. It was very warm and welcoming, the pub is pretty. The bedroom was small and basic but had everything we needed. We had made alternative arrangements for breakfast prior to booking, so can't comment on the food.
Not a fan of showers in the bath. Nothing else to complain about.
