If this hotel was rated on a scale of 1-100, I would give it 120. What stood out the most was the welcoming, friendly, competent, and helpful staff. Other pluses -- quiet location within walking distance to a lovely park, easy parking, & free breakfast.

Friendly and accommodating staff. Booked the rooms shortly before arriving. Hotel is outdated, but it's clean, staff is hospitable and kind. Overall a positive experience.
It's very quite and relaxing atmosphere and the view is amazing seeing the firfth of fourth and watching the tide go in and out it was wonderful. The breakfast was plentiful and very tasty and our suppers were just amazing no reason to leave the hotel.

The hotel cancelled our stay 2 days before, even when we had called in advance to check if everything was ok with our reservation, which they confirmed. They didn't even propose an option, just said "I can't do anything"

Top Tips
- Glenrothes does not have a passenger rail station. The nearest option is Markinch, 4-5 km (about 10-15 minutes by taxi or bus), where ScotRail trains reach Edinburgh in 30-40 minutes. Confirm your station transfer with a pre-booked taxi or Stagecoach bus, especially if you need accessible transportation or plan early or late trips.
- Drive times from Glenrothes are 25-35 minutes to St Andrews and 40-60 minutes to Edinburgh city center. Allow an extra 15-30 minutes for morning or evening peak M90 traffic. Local car rentals are available from major brands in town and at Edinburgh Airport.
- Hotel prices in Glenrothes often rise for major events such as St Andrews graduations or championship golf tournaments. Book 3-6 weeks in advance for weekends to avoid limited choices, and consider rates with free cancellation if you may need flexibility.
- UK VAT on hotel stays is 20%. Check if the advertised room rate includes this tax before confirming your booking, as some sites show prices exclusive of VAT. Receipts should itemize VAT separately to help with expense claims or refunds.
- Pay in GBP rather than your home currency at checkout to avoid Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) fees, which can add a 2-4% markup. Most hotels accept contactless payments, and using a no-foreign-transaction-fee card lowers your costs.
- Tap water in Glenrothes is safe to drink and meets EU and UK standards. Bottled water is available in hotels and shops if you prefer the taste or are planning day excursions. Using a refillable bottle is a sustainable option.
- Most Glenrothes hotels offer complimentary guest parking; verify if your booking rate includes this and if EV charging is available onsite. Public charging stations exist but are limited, so pre-book EV charging if available. Ask about cycle storage if bringing a bike.
- Stagecoach public buses link Glenrothes to Kirkcaldy, Leven, and St Andrews in 30-50 minutes per trip. Check the Fife bus timetable before traveling to align your arrival with hotel check-in if not driving.
- To secure an accessible room or step-free access, notify your hotel 48-72 hours before arrival. Many local B&Bs and older hotels have limited accessibility, so confirm features like visual alarms or wet rooms when booking. Major hotel brands in the area offer accessible options upon request.
