Staying over Christmas, the decorations and atmosphere were wonderful. A little gift hanging on the bedroom door on Christmas morning, bucks fizz served at breakfast started the day well. The hotel was spotlessly clean, the staff always on hand, and nothing was too much trouble. The food was fabulous, always served hot and freshly cooked on warm plates, and nothing was too much trouble. I'm travelling to Scotland a couple of times this year and l will stay here every time.
I would have liked a grab rail in the shower,
Hospitable and polite staff, comfortable and well appointed accommodation, excellent food and top class service all round.
Nothing, apart from having to leave after 2 nights!
Well maintained, warm, comfortable beds. Lovely surroundings and in an excellent location. Lovely restaurant, with delicious food.
I liked the old stone architecture, the historic ambience, large and roomy but quiet at the same time as being reasonably busy. I appreciated the attentiveness and affable professionalism of the staff.Breakfast in bed was punctual on the dot. I was not. The room was clean, spacious, quiet, unobtrusive decor, a comfortable bed with nice sheets and a good bathroom.
The towel rack didn’t heat up in the morning. That's not a reason to never return, though!
The hotel was nice and comfortable, Staff were very attentive and very helpful.
The food was not up to scratch but in defence I didn't bother with breakfast I only had an evening meal. The steak I had was on par with a flipflop for £35 it certainly wasn't cheap.
The wallpaper? That was immense!!!! Nice staff. Nice breakfast.
Nothing really. It was all just fine.
Perfect for us as we had 2 rooms together for the girls & pretty close to the station ! Comfortable & very friendly staff
All perfect for us
All good. High quality at a good 'Booking. com' price.
No dislikes but I would have liked a later end time to breakfast service. Having said that it was Christmas week and you really would not have recognised any reduction in services.
I had a fantastic stay at this lovely hotel once again. The room was beautiful with everything I needed, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The staff went above and beyond—so friendly and attentive—and the breakfast was delicious. A delightful surprise was the Bucks Fizz at Christmas breakfast, which made the experience even more special. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of my stay!

Staff very friendly and even accommodated an early check in. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was home from home. Breakfast choices were varied and also enabled healthy options.
WiFi was a bit hit and miss in terms of signal.
Dated like my granny’s back room but equally as welcoming. An incredibly warm welcome. My wee dog was warmly welcomed too - that was a really nice touch.
The restaurant was excellent and we had a delicious meal. The breakfast was included in the room price and had an impressive selection of options on the menu. The double room we booked was very spacious with an exceptionally comfortable bed.
Nothing struck us as in need of improvement.
Breakfast was lovely with a good selection which is freshly prepared for you.
My only complaint is that there is no restaurant open on a Sunday evening which I particularly wanted as I was travelling alone and this was my first night of travelling without my husband.
The food is always excellent at this Hotel as are the friendly staff. I feel that the property could do with a little updating especially in the bedrooms and bathrooms. lighting and power circuits are a bit unusual, taps etc need maintenance or changing. We were kept awake by revellers leaving the carpark, but I guess that's the time of year. Maybe better to have a room at the back of the property.
Room amenities. Matress too soft and hard pillows.
