About
The New Lanark Mill Hotel is part of UNESCO World Heritage Site. The hotel has spacious rooms with attached bathroom, a restaurant, bar and swimming pool. New Lanark is a small 18th century village, designed as a model industrial center. Today, the mill buildings, school and workers’ homes have been converted into shops, museums and the New Lanark Mill Hotel. The rooms and the rooftop garden both offer stunning views of the river and the surrounding Conservation Area. The restaurant overlooks the River Clyde and offers traditional Scottish dishes from a cooked breakfast to afternoon tea. As well as the 52 foot swimming pool, there is a modern gym, sauna and steam room. The hotel has received awards for its environmental policies and disabled access. The village is an hour’s drive from Glasgow or Edinburgh and the Mill Hotel is just 1.4 miles from Lanark Railway Station.

Pros +
- The room was large and well appointed. The location at the historic mill along the River Clyde as well as the trail to the falls was quite impressive. Everyone we interacted with from the staff were very friendly and helpful.
- Perfect location for a weekend getaway. Comfortable beds, very nice swimming pool, tasty breakfast and very friendly and helpful staff.
- An amazing hotel in a truly beautiful place. All very new and high-spec. The river running along the back of the hotel was amazing. Excellent service and very friendly and helpful staff.
Cons -
- Due to old windows and big rooms it was not warm enough in the rooms and it was quite cold in the pool changing room.
- Slightly tricky to find! The satnav took me down a road with bollards but otherwise got there ok.
- We booked this hotel as a last minute treat while travelling North. This was based on the mainly great reviews. I really don’t understand these reviews. The hotel felt worn, gloomy and soulless in spite of the historical building and interesting location. The bathroom towels were badly stained one with what looked like an old blood patch. On the bedside table there was a bizarre notice/sign (included with review) stating you would be fined for smoking drugs and cigarettes. It felt like the room has been used as temporary accommodation by the local authority hence the unpleasant sign. The evening meal and breakfast in their restaurant was disappointing with a limited menu and poor quality. The food was hot though. In the room next door there were loud people shouting, banging doors constantly and bottles clinking. The corridor smelt strongly of cigarettes. We were told these people were ejected later by the hotel. We were moved to another room after some resistance including initially being told the hotel was fully booked. I was reluctant to give this review because the staff were so nice but for £190 a night other potential guests need to know and reviews should reflect real experience.

Amazing location, spectacular views, lovely staff. Great evening meal.
Only very minor complaint, the portion of porridge for breakfast was pretty small and only had one berry.
The staff are very friendly, location is beautiful, food at dinner and breakfast was beautiful
Only small concerns like a few bits of the hotel didn't seem completely clean, little things like wall lights and showers in the gym. Not enough concern to stop me going again. This is my second visit and loved every minute
Room was lovely clean and comfortable. View fab. Little bit of touch ups needed in bathroom grout but minor. Plenty tea coffee and biscuits. Breakfast was lovely very tasty and staff attentive.
Out of the way was hard to find
The history and location
The changing rooms at the pool were cold and dirty. The pool was too darkly lit. The jacuzzi was cold and an underwater light was hanging off its casing.I was in an accessible room which I hadn’t booked (having booked three months in advance). No explanation given. Very little interaction during check in; no WiFi info, no info re pool and spa, no directions to dining room. Better signage to the actual hotel once you head down the hill into New Lanark
Fabulous building, great facilities, great location for walks
The room was superb and much larger than the average hotel room I've stayed in recently. A decent size desk was useful to do work and the bed and bathroom facilities were excellent. Breakfast was exceptional and the hot food was cooked to perfection as was the evening meal we had on our first night. I really couldn't fault this hotel and wouldn't hesitate to stay again.
Love the pool area with sauna and jacuzzi..room was gorgeous
The fact that our room was only separated by a door. We had what we thought where a group of ladies partying and roaring and swearing at top of there voices till 130 then back up at 6am ..Bed was very small for a double husband is only 5ft9 and his feet were hanging out the bed ..Been here many times and never had anything like this before..what we thought was a relaxing break turned into a disappointment
Everythings was on the top level.
Food,room,staff was perfect.
Dinner and breakfast were amazing, facilities were of good standard, rooms very spacious and clean.
WIFI was really weak.
Loved the situation, the room was excellent, staff friendly and helpful. The food was very excellent
We didn't realise the museum didnt open till Wednesday
The property and views are lovely
The swimming pool is far too cold. The restaurant lacks ambience in the evening. Disappointed with two meals, two different fish dishes that had lots of fish bones, and my friend choked. We were told it was one of those things, but I find that unacceptable. The breakfast tea pot was served with one tea bag for 3 people. I feel that standards have slipped with this hotel. The bedroom could also be upgraded. It is not as nice as the last room I had. This is my fourth time staying, but I don't think I will stay again.
Not an expansive evening meal menu but when food came it was very tasty. The room was very big with a nicely equipped bathroom. Staff were very courteous.
Parking is very cramped .had to circle the car park a few times to find a space.
Lovely location and surroundings in historical buildings.
Our bathroom was an accessible toilet, which we hadn't asked for and didn't like very much.It was only for one night though so we didn't ask for it to be changed.
The stay was absolutely amazing from start to finish. The leisure suite/health spa was brilliant, so clean, easy to use and peaceful. So lovely to be able to use these facilities before check in. The family suite was spotless, so clean and tidy- breathtaking views straight out to the falls and the mini fridge was an awesome bonus. Food in the restaurant at dinner and breakfast the next day was delicious! Health suite amazing the next day and please give a special mention to Vicky the beauty therapist- she went above and beyond to make myself, my mum and sister feel welcome, relaxed and comfortable - a very special lady who just made our experience so magical. All the staff were so friendly and kind. We had an amazing stay!
Good tasty food with reasonable portion sizes. History tour was also interesting, and also great walk to the water falls.
all good.
Hotel room was lovely, and very spacious, the pool facilities were great, and very clean. The staff were all fantastic, from the receptionist to the restaurant waiting team.
