    Pros +

    • The location was all it had going for it.
    • Great facilities and beautiful location
    • I was really tired when I arrived after a long drive, The receptionist on the desk was truly lovely and helped me with my bags to my room. Room was on the second floor and was big and comfortable Lovely view of the lake. I used the pool which was lovely and quiet. The food at breakfast was excellent. Lovely business stay.

    Cons -

    • The room was totally out of date with the shower and toilet barley usable. Breakfast was supposed to be included but if you want hot food you have to pay extra. The whole experience felt very rushed.
    • Lots of confusion on checking in. Room was not made up and not cleaned properly. It had not been vacuumed and one bedside table was missing. There were also hairs in the bath. Breakfast was way below par, having visited other Champneys locations. This is a shame, seeing as the facilities are so lovely.
    • nothing. all good.

The room, the food and the ambience were lovely. The grounds were beautiful as always and it's nice to see ducks and geese wandering about!

The beautician who did my facial ignored my request to be gentle with the skin and my comment that I had to be very careful about exfoliating it, and exfoliated it anyway. I didn't realise what she was doing until it was too late. Within a couple of hours I had a red patch above my top lip.

Nice location for me. Parking was convenient. nice surroundings. hotel looked fantastic from the outside.

I arrived late at the hotel due to motorway closure. I was very tired. No one on reception/arrivals. A man sitting in departure room beckoned me to come to him as he didn't appear to want to move. I then followed him back to reception desk. Very hard to understand what he was saying. He kept offering me a robe which I declined. He didn't provide any details about breakfast and timings and no information in the room. He did show me where my room was located, but it was very far away from the car, which I said, but he offered no alternative. I asked about an EV charger and was told it was at the back somewhere. It was late at night, poorly lit and the EV chargers were useless and I kept getting an error. I called the 24 hour number on the EV Charger unit (no answer) and I gave up in the end. No internet worked - It said "The WiFi network isn't connected to the Internet". The bathroom shower was dirty. In the morning, no staff in the breakfast area and I left and ate elsewhere.

The location and hotel itself was nice.

We were placed on the ground floor and in a disabled room and their bathroom was therefore not nice. In addition, the walls were paper thin and we could hear the television on both sides at different points in the morning which disturbed our sleep and lie in. The experience was not worth what we paid. I’ve been twice below and stayed in upper floors before and not had this experience. Very disappointed.

Loved the stunning grounds & house The outside pool & the spa facilities were very good

The room was tired and shabby & in definite need of a total refurbishment from paintwork, threadbare carpet, bathroom & fixtures/ furniture The food was bad so we skipped lunch & went out for dinner. We ordered poached eggs on first day and all 5 were rock hard & clearly reheated. The food was very poor & the staff seemed overwhelmed..though most did their best to smile

We stayed for 2 nights but generally very disapointed.

The large double bed was two single beds pushed together .No topper available .No feather pillows .Very run down room more like a travel lodge. The staff were very poor and seemed ill informed .The spa was crowded no beds available and the hot tub was a cold tub !So disappointed and definitely will not be rushing to stay again .

    Passable

The restaurant is completely understaffed. Long queues waiting to be seated, a couple staff running around like headless chickens, and ignoring the 15 + people waiting in line. Also, had extremely untrained and rude staff. Had 3 encounters with rude staff members.

Bread was good. Odd that the outside tables were not used until we got there and we had to clean the bird poop off ourselves. Not sure the tables had been cleaned in a week....?

The orange segments were literally fermenting in the juice - it was all gloopy! So I am left wondering about food safety standards. The bread buffet was fine. Bread very nice. Although it looked like they brought out some sliced hovis at the end. fresh fruit - sliced and not in bowls was good. Not enough loungers by the pool.

Beautiful setting with some nice facilities.

You literallly had to pay extra for everything. The 5pm check in and 10am check out is a total rip off and then to be asked to pay an extra day fee is totally outrageous. The restaurant was like being in an airport and the good terrible.

Booked for one night but liked it so much stayed another night. Staff so lovely and helpful and the peace and tranquility at the hotel was just wonderful best nights sleep and it was quiet at night unlike other hotels I've stayed at. The lake is just beautiful and the grounds immaculate- the ducks are so funny and the geese on the lake was a spectacular sight to see!

Champneys Forest Mere is exceptional value. As a business guest complimentary access to a 5* spa was a bonus and set me up for the day. I also liked the 'Health Farm' ambiance of being able to wander around in a bath robe and flip-flops (provided) including for breakfast (excellent in terms of quality and choice) as one might do at home in anticipation of a heavy day ahead before getting 'suited and booted' . Staff were kind and attentive as I have mobility issues. Claudine and Emily receive my commendation - thank you both!My lovely room was more a parlour with a settee and good desk to spread and sort-out the day's business papers, computer etc. Finally, whilst it is completely understandable that the Spa facilities are reserved for the exclusive use of Health Treatment Guests etc, between 10.00 am - 5.00 pm you may need to be aware of this; but did not apply to me.

Nothing at all! Whilst I did not eat at the hotel other than breakfast,, I found it odd that the restaurant only offered a 'Table D' Hotel' menu from which one must choose at least two courses. However, plenty of choice.

    Beautiful location

Shabby, room cleanliness poor, cold water was scalding hot, spa whirlpool broken, broken benches in sauna, reception indifferent when raised

    It was nice and green

The outdoor pool wasn’t working and jacuzzi was full

    Beautiful clean and great facilities

Some of the staff are very curt and unhelpful - one of the waitresses never smiled and when asked for help was quite brusque- not really what I would expect. Staff training opportunity maybe ? £46 for a bottle of Prosecco is ridiculous and £15 for espresso martini is steep - puts us off sorry ?

Went away for some rest, fire alarm went off twice at 5am in the morning and staff laughed about it when we complained,

    7KimPosted on: 6-20-2024

The grounds were beautiful along with the buildings

We felt the breakfast experience wasn’t great … 1: not enough tables for people 2: tables not being cleared quickly enough leading people to hunt for tables or clear them themselves 3 insufficient plates etc , along with others we had to ask . 4: wall by our table had stains on 5 : decorations on wall was covered in cobwebs5: coffee in large containers … Luke warm
