Pros +
- Breakfast was very good and the staff very helpful. The rooms were good size and well furnished. However, found the un-carpeted floors cold.
- good location adjacent to the castle
- The whole atmosphere of the hotel was great. The lobby and rooms were wonderfully decorated!Chloe and Anna at the reception desk were very helpful. The dining room staff were VERY helpful and considerate. My daughter has food allergies, and there were plenty of options for her!
Cons -
- The food options in the evening were very limited and basic. Fully understand that this was due to the time of year - but worth noting if you are planning to stay here off-season.
- the single beds are really only suitable for younger children; our 15yo had his feet sticking over the end. While there was entertainment near the restaurant (two "knights" giving a sword fighting lesson - which the younger kids loved), it was poorly timed in relation to dinner sittings, and wrong times were given by the front desk. the dinner was buffet style but was rather disappointing quality, but the "medieval theme" of the restaurant was limited to a few wall hangings and exposed beams. While they may have live entertainment in the restaurant at busy times as the website implies, there was none inside while we were there. the meal was also very expensive for the quality. as per other reviewers i would suggest getting a pub meal in town. the breakfast was decent though. also confirm which room you are booking; i had intended to book a lodge, but ended up with a hotel room (chatting with other guests though the layouts and sizes are the same).
- The children's beds could be longer. My daughter who is 5'2" was too tall for the bunkbeds. She had to use the trundlebed that had to be pulled out from under the beds.

Great location and very good set up for families. Very friendly, kind and helpful staff.
lovely clean reception easy check in , the room was clean & spacious with good facilities
The food at the evening buffet was a little disappointing especially the lack of vegan desert but breakfast was very nice
Nice clean spacious
Cashless everywhere I hate it if I’d have looked into this further and realized it was cashless I wouldn’t of booked
A lovely setting. Great experience, especially for children. Good choice for breakfast. Will try the cabins next time
Staff was friendly and helpful, room was spotlessly clean. Breakfast had a great selection and was well done. Super value for the money.
It appeared online as if this hotel included admission to the castle but that was a separate fee.
The themed room was excellent and we really enjoyed the ‘knight’ activities on offer the night we stayed. My 9 year old didn’t want to leave, it was his favourite hotel ever!
Nothing. It was all great!
We stayed in the glamping tents which was a lot of fun, toilets and showers were really clean. Beds were very comfortable.
We were suppose to stay in a tent but it was so hot that the very friendly check in guy said that we could change to a room with AC, which we did.Nice & fun hotel especially if you have kids under 8 yrs old.
I expected more from the breakfast. Eggs were cold & coffee weak.
It’s a camp site not a hotel mid sold
It’s a tent
Loved staying on site. It was nice staying close to the river in a chalet. My kids enjoyed the evening entertainment.
The chalet was a little smaller than expected. It just about worked for my family of 4 (kids ages 10 and 8). Also would have been nice to have air conditioning. The restaurant food in the evening was lacking and pricey.
Staff was incredible. Very warm, welcoming and super helpful. I wish I could remember their names. Having the buffet restaurant close was excellent. Prices were reasonable for the offerings plus the free breakfast. I did utilize the included pass to see the castle. The underground spooky tour is a must. It was so fun and terrifying. The room was comfy and clean. I chose to stay in the hotel rather the the cabin as planned to have a bathtub to soak in. The tavern had some delicious late night food for takeout. The sticky toffee pudding and steak strips were dinner two nights. Yum!
Signage. My back was acting up badly so walking was painful and I wasn't able to explore as I wanted. My Uber dropped me at the front and I couldn't figure out where the hotel was. It was a good 15 minute hike with my bag and suitcase which was tough. Has I know I would have asked to be dropped off closer. Also, the is only one entrance/exit to the castle. As much as I wanted to explore more and work my way closer to the hotel, I would have had to walk all the way back to the entry (despite locked gates I could have exited from) which was not an option for me at that point.
My daily preference of porridge was not available. The food on offer was of a good standard however .
The evening menu in the Tavern was of a very poor choice. No healthy options available. However the staff there were lovely.
Very family orientated. Rooms were clean, spacious, fresh and comfortable. Had tea & coffee facilities. Staff on reception were very welcoming and helpful. Entertainment in the evening was brilliant in terms of why was available and the staff - they were funny and kids loved it. Food was lovely.
Easy check inn Very clean Exerlant surroundings
Spacious rooms with cute themed decor. We were five people in a room and it didn’t feel too cramped. The activities at night were fun for the kids and the grounds of the hotel are beautiful.
The reservation system for dinner seems to have issues. We couldn’t get a reservation but the restaurant was less than half full most of the night. We ended being able to eat there after checking in three times to see if there were any cancellations. Every time we checked in and through out the time we were eating, the restaurant was less than half full and they were still turning people away. It’s a buffet so it’s not like they need a lot of servers.
Nice design to make it interesting for kids.
The room was very small. The toilet was half-broken and not easy to flush.
The food was great and the staff were friendly. I loved the free archery lesson during their entertainment time. It's a bit of a long trek to the hotel if you don't drive.
