Pros +
- Great character
- Homely traditional British pub. Landlady was very welcoming and helpful, in fact all the staff were brilliant. An acoustic band were on was on when we stayed which was very good and made for a pleasant evening along with good beer. Would definitely recommend and would stay again.
- The room was clean and tidy, tea/coffee was included.Once the heating had kicked in, it was nicely warm in the room. There was little ambient noise, so it stayed quiet, even with a pub quiz being held downstairs.
Cons -
- Internet was spotty at times in the room.
- The shower was useless, barely warm and not able to increase in heat. The bathroom fittings were incomplete, I hung a hand towel on the shelf bracket, as the shelf was missing. My booking wasn't on the system, despite paying in advance, although this was sorted. They do not have a car park, so the statement on the booking is incorrect and I would not have booked had I known, I had to park on the street. The person on check-in confused the matter of food being available, I am glad I went elsewhere, as the breakfast really wasn't nice.
- Struggled to find the entrance into the building after the pub had closed. Knew roughly where to go but wasn’t great signposting and was beginning to get concerned.

Good StaffGood and tidy roomsGood breakfast

The shower. Kept going from hot to cold continuously. Happened every day
Room exceptionally clean Bed very comfortable
At night our bathroom smelt our the curry restaurant on the floor below us No bar meals at night
Parking near by , the rooms were excellent . Great location some good roads for motorcycling
We had a lovely clean room, comfy beds and tasty breakfast. We left a wallet with cash and book in the room and owners were brilliant in locating and posting back to us. Thank you
Breakfast was perfectly adequate .The location is stunning by the Peak District.
We didn’t like the steep staircase to the bedrooms and then another very steep staircase to get to our room which was the attic. Completely unsuitable for those with limited mobility. Plus the sloping walls create a constant hazard - my husband banged his head more times than I care to remember .
Lovely room, shower. Bright and super clean. Lots of tea and coffee with nice large cups. Breakfast was my choice and freshly made. Great staff, everyone was friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Even offering to take me to the station.
A minor thing. Dreadful lumpy pillows!
Stayed here while walking the Pennine Way. Shared a spacious family room. Had nice meal in the bar in the evening and then a very good breakfast. Lovely staff and the owner even gave us a lift back to the start of the trail.
Location - convenient for a wedding we were attending Atmospheric bar with live entertainment when we got back Breakfast was excellent
Number of stairs - particularly up to bedroom 1 were very narrow and steep. I have arthritis and although manageable weren’t ideal. Shower wasn’t very warm and I couldn’t adjust
The staff were nice
The noise! The brewery truck was so loud outside and all you could hear for hours was the moving of the barrels downstairs and outside The breakfast was below average The tv was hanging off wall mount
Great staff, nice old pub!
Steps to room are bit steep!
Very comfortable and clean accommodation in a convenient location in Old Glossop. The owners were friendly and helpful and did everything possible to make our stay pleasant and enjoyable.
