    Pros +

    • Good location. Quite. Good parking. Good views of open countryside.
    • The courtyard room was spacious for two humans and three dogs. The grounds were great for the dogs to explore off lead safely. The staff were really nice and very dog friendly. The breakfast we had was great, Cooked breakfast, cereals, fruit pastries.
    • The beautiful location. The excellent courtyard where our family could gather.Excellent home cooked breakfast.Lovely friendly staff.

    Cons -

    • Not in the main hotel as expected; would have preferred to have been informed beforehand that this was the case. Small things overlooked i.e only two tissues in the box, no welcome pack, so no information on breakfast times, checkout expectations, WiFi information etc. Room was a little musty and warmed with a free standing heater. TV reception wasn’t good and the remote control was temperamental. I had been informed beforehand that dinner would not be available on the night of my stay, however there didn’t appear to be any facilities available such as a bar or light meals. Staff not overly welcoming/cheerful.Breakfast was okay. Priced paid more than the amount on this website.
    • I guess the only thing that would say that I would think could do with a little update would be the shower. In my opinion it was a bit outdated, and on the small size ( shower over the bath and a shower curtain) the bathroom is ample big enough to have a more generous shower area.
    • All good!

Very nice and helpful staff. A really big and comfortable room, superclean. A quiet and beautiful setting around. Delicious food made the time that we preferred (in our case early).

    Nothing comes to mind.

I enjoyed my one night stay at Sturmer Hall in a superior room upstairs in the hall which was very comfortable and clean with beautiful surroundings. Friendly and helpful staff with plenty of choice served at breakfast.

Nothing to dislike, only improvement could be better signage for where to park, you have to drive past the hall before you see the only car park sign.

The hotel is in a really beautiful location. Took me a moment to find my way in, it feels like you're just walking into someone's living room! But all good from there on - friendly and helpful staff, a spacious, comfortable and well-equipped room, tasty breakfast, and well located for what I needed.

On a hot summer's day, it was hard to get the shower cool enough.

Staff were amazing so friendly and kind. Loved the seating area outside the room.

No air con in the room which was fair enough but also no windows that we could keep open during the night as only the french doors, perhaps something could be done to them so they could be left ajar slightly but still secure. The room was unbearably hot.

Good location in beautiful countryside . Very peaceful

Although beautiful it’s very sad to see how run down this property is , the maintenance of the grounds , dead plants and hanging baskets , weeds , broken walls , stagnant pond , a general feeling of lack of care . A victim maybe of Covid times and tight finance , this place could be truly amazing . It needs a set of eyes to see it from the customers’ view , from driving through a very messy area when you drive through to the car park , right to where you check in - first impressions matter . The host was very sweet .

Great breakfast. Triin looked after us very well.

Curtains needed to be rehung. Toilet cistern took 15 minutes to fill up after flushing.

The views from our accommodation were second to none with the wildlife rabbits and their babies hopping about just outside in the moonlight. They have thought of everything you would need for a fantastic stay and we would highly recommend to friends and family and would return

We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at lovely grounds of Sturmer Hall hotel even if it was winter time. We parked our car and found the entrance. We were greeted by the owner Triin who took us to our room that was set in the grounds. The room was warm and beautifully decorated. Tea coffee water and the usual biscuits were available. WI-FI was free and very good. We were left alone after explaining the breakfast arrangements. We went into Haverhill for a concert and returned to our room seeing lots of bunny rabbits and some muntjacs running about. The room was warm dark and very quiet for a relaxing nights sleep. In the morning made a brew got ready and went for a full English breakfast with a good selection of cereals yogurts and fresh fruit. Hot drinks and fruit juice on offer. We’d definitely stay again.

    The location peace and quiet.

I thought the stay was overpriced ..the bathroom was cold, the shower was very noise , the toilet system took forever to fill no privacy in the room unless you closed the curtains as it had large patio doors no net curtains bathroom door catch on the tiles Breakfast poor choice for money .i felt the room should only have costed £100

We wanted to meet and dine with family who live local to Sturmer Hall and the location was perfect. The warm welcome, good food and the opportunity to spend time together afterwards unhurriedly was much appreciated by all so we very much enjoyed our stay.

There was nothing to dislike, but the property clearly has to work hard as a venue and there are some visible signs of tiredness. Some of the signage on the drive and at the house is hard to read which did trouble our family a little when they came to dine with us.
