    Pros +

    • Friendly staff
    • None. The picture is quite deceptive. The facility is one spare room at a country side. You will have to pass through a local pub to access the facility. Waited for more than 10 minutes at the Pub's reception before the room manager showed up with just casual attention from the pub counter staff whose priority is the pub and not room service. The stair way to the room looked unkept. The environment is definitely not recommended for guests who seek privacy and quietness. The environment, reception and service were all turn off for me and had to turn leave the place to seek alternative accommodation.
    • This is obviously the place the locals come after work, snd everyone was So Friendly. The rooms were modern and clean. The food was well priced and delicious. If this was my local, I'd be a regular.

    Cons -

    • Too warm. Noise level from pub quite loud when open.
    • Reception, stair way
    • I didnt mind, but there is not a lift. So that could affect some decisions for others.

Perfect location in picturesque village. Lovely quiet room at rear of friendly pub. We stayed here to go to the church to watch China Crises. It was ideal and so many lovely walks on your doorstep

    More T bags in room!

Ancient inn in charming village. Comfortable room overlooking a magnolia tree in full flower. Regular pub supper (fish and chips etc) well cooked with fresh ingredients.

Such a clean little hideaway. Everything looked fresh and new. We only needed a place to lay our head but would happily use for a couple of nights base.Very clean bathroom, towels provided, plenty of room, places to hang clothes and there were tea and coffee facilities, we like the Darnley for food so it’s a great base for coming back too as well. Didn’t eat on this trip but we have ventured there for dinner and drinks a on many occasions.

The steps up were rather slippery especially as it was October so everything remains damp. Our room was over the road so you could here the cars but this is a small village so it didn’t effect sleep or anything else.

We loved the property, the room was big, bed was comfy & it was clean. The area it was in was picturesque. The staff were all lovely. Food was amazing. Could not fault it & would definitely go back

Could do with a full length mirror in the room.

The room was perfect for my needs. It was a spacious double room and I especially liked the fact that there was ample parking.

There was nothing I didn’t like, however, I felt the room would benefit from having a mirror.

The staff are so welcoming and polite. The food was fantastic. We stayed over night. The room was big, clean and modern.

The bathroom light is on a sensor and the door dis not close completely. If someone goes to toilet in night, you have the light filling up the bedroom space for a good 10mins.

    Noisy.

Booking.com said free breakfast but hotel had no breakfast D facilities. I think this was a Booking.com error.External staircase was slippery and very dangerous.Noise from the pub below and roof/windows during rain was very loud.

Clean and comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful

    Walls a little thin

    8ShelleyPosted on: 11-27-2023

    Clean, comfortable room. Staff courteous

Window little draughty and quite noisy as single glazed window

    5RalphPosted on: 11-22-2023

    Staff were lovely and helpful

Room was tidy but not inviting. The skylight window blinds don’t open so no natural light. The bed mattress need a vacuum. There was not decoration in the room so barren walls and bed (pictures show cushions and throws). There was no soap in the bathroom let alone shower gel. A lot of the sealant in the bathroom is moldy or needs replacing. The wooden steps up to the rooms are lethal. They are extremely slippery when wet and in poor repair. The door to the corridor where the bedrooms are wasn’t closed properly at night. The rooms are up the wooden stairs in a building attached to the pub. When you leave, the pub is locked up and there’s nobody around. The car park needs a sweep and tidy.

The place had a great character with very nice and friendly staff. We enjoyed the drinks in the pub downstairs as well! Would recommend for non-fussy budget customers.

Small amount of extra cleaning effort would make a world of difference (dust, tea spoons, towels in hall)

    1SimonPosted on: 10-6-2023

    not much

dont serve food on the night I stayed. room in poor condition, at least a decent shower. tea making facilities but no kettle due to it having gone missing, was promised some hot water so I could at least have a cup of tea before setting off. BUT THIS DID NOT HAPPEN, maybe due to the cost of electricity as mentioned by the landlord.

Friendly and helpful staff, good food at the inn, lovely surroundings!

    - No breakfast at the inn (not advertised, but would be lovely)- I needed a place to hang my jacket- I did not like the automatic light in the bathroom- I needed a place to hang and dry the towels

I found the staff very friendly and helpful. The food in the bar was excellent.

Perhaps I did not read the website before booking. It was a slight nuisance that no breakfast was provided. It should have been possible to give the residents a tray the night before. This could have had a carton of milk, some juice, a small packet of cereal and maybe a croissant and a roll and butter. Fortunately, the shop was next door and I was able to buy something there every morning. I was also a bit disappointed that nobody attended to the room over my 4-night stay.

Very comfortable, easy parking and check-in, and clean room. Shower was excellent and bathroom generally large and well maintained. TV was a nice bonus and location was excellent for exploring the village.

Nothing major, though if you're a light sleeper ask for a room away from the road, as you are right above it; not too busy (even overnight on the weekend) but worth knowing about. There was some noise from the pub downstairs, but minimal and ended early.Minor niggles: it would have been great to have some hooks in the bathroom to hang up towels, and there was no hand soap (though shower gel was provided).

Room is in an annexe so quiet, pub has real ales and good food. Staff welcoming. Very convenient for the A2 yet in a quiet rural village.

Accommodation being updated, and shows.in places such as windows not fitting. Not an issue in summer though.
