About
With a thatched roof and white stone walls, The Old Ferry Boat is considered England’s oldest inn. Overlooking the Great Ouse River, the rooms are tastefully furnished and have free Wi-Fi. The hotel is a 30 minute drive from the center of historic and picturesque Cambridge, and Duxford Imperial War Museum. Rooms all include a TV, telephone, stereo, ironing facilities and a private shower room. Some also look out on to the grounds. The spacious, relaxing restaurant serves a range of meals, from traditional favorites to exotic dishes. Guests are offered a tasty full English breakfast every day. The Old Ferry Boat was built in Anglo Saxon times. Historical documents record that liquor was sold here as early as 560 AD but the foundations are thought to be a century older.

- Lovely down stairs
Cons -
- Everything was perfect.
- Room 1 was too small, big boxed of section, ceiling to stairs. Not enough room to get in bed, bathroom to small. Bed in front of window so blocking lovely view.
- The rooms were very small, as was the en suite bathroom, but you definitely had what you needed

Everything was perfect.
Lovely down stairs
Room 1 was too small, big boxed of section, ceiling to stairs. Not enough room to get in bed, bathroom to small. Bed in front of window so blocking lovely view.
Beautiful historic property in a lovely waterside setting
The rooms were very small, as was the en suite bathroom, but you definitely had what you needed
The location was lovely and staff were okay
There was no hot water in the bathroom both sink and shower. Lucky we were only staying one night. Did I form staff and said they would check it and would move us but never. Also there were spiders webs in the window and 4 spiders.
Lovley location
Shower control could do with updating as hard to get temp right and they look old
Beautiful old pub. Amazing location. Food very good but no one collected plates when finished. During lunch service. Left outside for ages which encouraged the wasps. Evening was better. Happy to return.
Excellently placed alongside the river Nice bar and restaurant
Room was quite dated and required a revamp
- Decent room for the price paid. Friendly staff and a lovely pub. - Strong shower and heated towel rail. - Bed was comfortable and the extra pillows always makes an easy win for extra comfort. Overall very pleased for the price.
Noise from the kitchen extractor fan is quite significant. Thankfully the kitchens aren't open late nor too early so is only a minor issue.
The venue is superb with a lovely garden and op pen access right down to the river. A very pleasant restaurant and lovely breakfast room with a good breakfast, while the room had an excellent shower and decent WiFi. The food was plentiful.
Room 5 (the twin) is tiny with a creaky floor, a big gap under the door (we had to put a towel across it to stop the light from the corridors) and a tatty old window, although this enabled me to hear the dawn chorus very clearly. We also had the noise of the extractor fan (?) from the breakfast room all night as this runs up the wall of the room.Restaurant staff seemed a tad frazzled at the end of a long sunny Saturday. Also be aware hat the rooms, especially ours, don't face the river, although you can see it until the leaves come out on the trees.
Lovely location, good parking, great beer garden by the river. The food was excellent, especially breakfast! Would definitely stay there again.
Nothing to dislike - there was no milk on the tea tray in our room, but quickly addressed - and no saucers for our cups at breakfast but not an issue!
Welcoming staff, good food
Ensuite very snug little room to dry after a shower
Really friendly and helpful staff. Julie, the Big Boss, was very warm and welcoming. The single room was warm and comfortable. The food was exquisite, the staff helped with my selection and got it spot on!I will be going back, probably Easter week for their Bring and Buy in aid of the local primary school.(Contact Ben for the date).,
The weekend wasn't long enough!
Nice evening meal with hood variety
Breakfast not available until 8am. I had to o be at work for 7:30. Shame as the inn missed out on revenue! It is g to he reason they did not earn a 10. Beautiful surroundings and pleasant stay ruined by the lack of breakfast facilities! Old ferry boat inn is falling short on its service to customers
IPA Beer.Heating good in room and communal areas.Eggs Benedict breakfast.Corner bedroom with river views.
Bathroom too small.Shower worn and unclean.Room in need of refurbishment.TV remote control missing and when provided it didn't work.
the food was really nice
We were given the last twin room available (according to their web site.) Bedroom 5. This turned out to be an extremely compact room. The en suite isnt much larger than a public telephone box. The website photographs were not ( in our opinion) a true representation of the actual size. Furthermore, the room is situated above the pub kitchen, which made it quite noisy during the early part of the evening and then throughout the night the noise of the kitchen fan continued . The room itself would benefit from some updating with regard to decor. In addition many of the fixtures and fittings were in need of replacement due to wear and tear. Very disappointed overall.
breakfast very good. room small tv mounted on side wall difficult to view. location very good.
having to pay for meals as you ate them ? you should be able to have a room tab.
Friendly and welcoming staffHistoric building with lots of class a quirks.Loads of parkingSmall but very clean and warm rooms.Food a little mixed but excellent and well cooked choices for the vegetarians. One lamb dinner felt reheated but steak and chips excellent.Good breakfast choice and quality.
Nothing to dislike.
