    Pros +

    • This is a well-maintained hotel with a pleasing decor. My room was small but comfortable. Staff were lovely. The location is 10 mins from the seafront and close to shops and restaurants. Breakfast was good. I was very impressed with how beautifully my fried egg was cooked.
    • Well what can I say except what a beautiful hotel lovely clean room , great location , staff were all great . Breakfast was excellent all good produce although we had to wait a little it was well worth it . Thank you for a wonderful stay we will definitely return ?
    • View from my room. Facilities in bedroom

    Cons -

    • My view was of another building, very close to mine. I could not raise my window blind because I was overlooked by two windows. I did not like that I could not choose my table for breakfast. My assigned table was next to the door - not a great place for a solo who prefers cozy corners There was not much in the way of toiletries.
    • Nothing everything was spot on ?
    • Shower in my single room was barely big enough to turn round in!!

The location is superb, near the sea, near lovely inland walks, near wonderful historic town. Gorgeous garden and views. The building itself is 18th century and the elegant simplicity of that period is retained.

    Can’t think of anything

Nice hotel set in a lovely green area with plenty of parking spaces. The room was compact but comfortable ( single room) Bathroom was decent with a good hot shower. Overall a pleasant place to stay. Breakfast was excellent and the service matched the quality of the meal. I would recommend this place if you are staying in Sidmouth

The property was cosy, the staff very pleasant. Food was excellent with an extensive breakfast menu.

Excellent place to stay. The old hotel has been tastefully updated but remains charming and quirky with helpful and friendly staff. Only a short distance from the seafront. It has ample parking in the hotel grounds and is conveniently located within a 10 minute drive to the nearby wonderful donkey sanctuary.

I think it would be difficult to find any fault with this delightful hotel. For us everything was simply perfect.

This quirky hotel is situated in a lovely location within a short walk to the seafront. Well equipped and comfortable rooms. Exceptionally helpful staff which was led by a very attentive and friendly host, Jonty. The breakfast included was very comprehensive and tasty.

What's not to like in this charming quirky hotel? Only perhaps the haute cuisine dinner on offer each night was not particularly suitable for my party which comprised of me and my 13 year old son . I am sure for the right clientele though the menu would be well worth the rather pricey £35 pp for the 3 courses.

I can't understand why this hotel only has a two star rating. The staff are friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was amazing. The place was spotless. The location is fantastic. Highly recommended.

Great breakfast. Lots of variety. Very friendly and helpful staff, both at reception and at breakfast.

    Some slight noise between rooms.

    7RachelPosted on: 9-7-2024

The view from my room. The personnel. The location.

There was a drains smell emanating from outside my room and inside the bathroom. I was scalded in the shower.

    10SmithPosted on: 8-27-2024

Really friendly and professional staff. Clean and comfortable room. Delicious breakfast. Pleasant terrace, garden and lounge. Good quiet location near shops and the Byes open space and only 10 minutes walk to the seafront.

Super friendly and very professional too. Very clean and food was lovely. A few minutes walk to amenities. Definitely worth a visit.

    10RhiannonPosted on: 7-15-2024

The hotel was in a central location and had beautiful gardens with a fountain and a bench to sit. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room had plenty of towels, a hairdryer, and free water, tea, coffee and hot chocolate, which was replenished every day. Although reception closes at 10pm, I was given a key to let myself into the hotel if I returned later.

The corridor I stayed on was quite noisy, with people making a lot of noise moving up and down it very early in the morning.

    10FionaPosted on: 7-6-2024

The staff were very welcoming and attentive to your needs. The breakfast and dinner were outstanding. Very clean hotel, nothing was too much trouble. An 18th century building,. Beautiful garden

Due to the age of the hotel there is no lift so difficult for people with walking difficulties

    10VictoriaPosted on: 7-5-2024

Very friendly, helpful staff.Very clean and comfortable. Great location for town centre and sea front.

    6AngelaPosted on: 6-29-2024

Close to shops, cafe’s and the seafront. Room was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly. The breakfast was good.

My room was tiny. The bathroom was the size of a toilet, and the shower leaked. There was no lift and I had to walk to the top floor.

    10JohnPosted on: 6-27-2024

Breakfast was excellent, great location, quiet but close to the center of Sidmouth, Manager was extremely welcoming, professional, polite and helpful.

Nothing to dislike, would stay here again
