    Pros +

    • The hotel was clean and comfortable the staff were excellent, the breakfast was lovely just a short walk to the sea-front .thank you for a nice stay.
    • Swimming pool.Staff very welcoming and helpful.
    • The hotel was beautiful, the location of hotel was great for a walk up to the beach front and into the town. The breakfast was delicious and the waitress was very attentive.

    Cons -

    • We were a little upset that we didn't get the twin room we'd booked, we were given a king size bed. When I asked about it the receptionist said, she knew that I'd requested a twin room as it was on her paperwork, but was unable to give us the twin. Luckily it was myself and my daughter. It was a shame though. The room was a little tired, it could do with a lick of paint.
    • Changing area for swimming pool was very small - really suitable for just one person and needs to be modernised. The hotel should provide robes that could avoid this - get changed in your room. The pool itself was small but fine - well maintained and clean. Would be lovely to have some loungers around the side of the pool to relax on a rainy day!
    • Rooms and decor are very dated, shower a mere trickle, beds are on the hard side, condensation on windows, no fridge in the room, no gowns and slippers for the pool. Hot food items at breakfast lacked love (could have beeen prepared with more care). This sounds like a long list of negatives but we would very happily stay here again for a night or two.

Very accommodating and friendly staff. Our room was large and comfortable with traditional furnishings. Location was ideal - not quite on the sea front but only 2 mins walk away which meant the stormy weather did not affect us that much.

Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Parking very easy. Location excellent (close to the beach and centre). Pool was clean and warm. Good choice of fruit, cereals and fresh-to-order food for breakfast.

Beautiful historical building and a great location. I liked the plentiful on site car park. Staff were all very helpful and friendly. Breakfast offered numerous fresh fruits and cereals plus a good choice of cooked items.Fabulous Drawing Room upstairs where Queen Victoria would have sat overlooking the gardens and sea.

Helpful and considerate staff. Parking on site. The buildings and original Gothic windows are beautiful!

    Shower room was cramped.

Beautiful location. Quiet room with private access to the garden. Comfortable bed. Lovely ensuite showeroom with hot water. Friendly and professional staff.

The only good thing about the hotel was the location, very close to beach and town ⁸

The hotel was very dated. and old fashioned.

    8FrancoisPosted on: 10-30-2025

The staff were fabulous - really helpful and friendly.

Breakfast decent but quite expensive - especially when the same price is charged even if our kids only are toast and didn’t order cooked breakfast.

    10ChristinaPosted on: 10-28-2025

Staff very friendly. Food excellent in restaurant. Room clean. Our room was next door to swimming pool. Lovely pool with towels provided. Hotel not far from town centre.

The history of the hotel is fascinating , the staff are very attentive and are very knowledgeable of the area

Parking is tight but was aware of this through reviews

    8JanePosted on: 10-25-2025

Breakfast was excellent as were all the meals served in the hotel. The restaurant and bar staff were fantastic, nothing was too much bother and they were all so friendly and helpful. First impression of the room was that it was small and cramped but it wasn't a problem because of all the available lounges that could be used and the outdoor seating in good weather. The pool and gym looked good but we didn't have the time to use them. The location was perfect for a walk down to the sea and the gardens.

Nothing really, the size of the room was the only thing we were disappointed with initially but once we realised there were other options to sit in comfort it was fine.

Superb breakfast. Great location, amazing staff . Everything was just perfect

    Shallow pool. Only 1 meter

    8MichaelPosted on: 10-22-2025

Interesting hotel with lots of history and interesting architecture

Parking limited, hotel decoration was adequate but in need of modernising particularly the pool changing area.

    7StevenPosted on: 10-20-2025

Excellent location, very quaint and period feel. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was tasty and reasonable value. Free parking on site. We had help with our bags at check-in. Bathroom was huge and very modern.

We had a suite which gave us more space but that’s about it. No bathrobes, no fridge in room. There is a nice pool but you have to go outside to get to it but this is only a few metres.

    Expected better.

The bed when sat on, creaked as though the springs were rusty, and with a bottom sheet that rolled up into a ball every morning made this very uncomfortable. We was hardly able to get wet in the shower it was so poor.

Great location.Good facilities, pool and small gym.

    All good.

    7MouldersPosted on: 10-9-2025

    Food very good.

Parking could be problematic. Would have preferred linen on tables in dining room

    10VictoriaPosted on: 10-6-2025

Because it was close to the beach and value for money the meals were very delicious and all the staff were very pleasant and very helpful
