The location,Plenty of parkingRoom away from the pub so very quiet

The bathroom needs some maintenance to ceiling and furnishings

    9HowardPosted on: 1-29-2026

The location and really helpful staff

Heating was a bit under par but it is to be expected with such an old building and being winter when we stayed

We had a very nice breakfast at the Fishermans Cot, & were looked after well by the friendly staff there. Our room was comfortable, & very clean.

Tea & coffee was provided, but no hot chocolate & no biscuits.

    Unfortunately not much!

The room is OK as long as you are only 4 ft tall as the slopping ceiling prohibits standing up straight when negotiating around the room. But the thing that is unbelievable is we were awoken at 4am because our brand new car was up to the cills underwater. Why were we not told that this pub is liable to flooding by the staff? We had to wade out of the entrance/exit through 18 inch of water so shoes are ruined as well as having wet clothes. My partner did try to contact the proprietor using the emergency phone in the lobby, which was not answered, she also rang the number that's online left a message to be contacted. So it's now 11.29am and we have not been contacted. So just to recap. Car full of water, Wet clothing damaged shoes, Room that we had to exit at 4.30 am, Missed breakfast and very poor customer service. Can't express how un happy we both are!

The room was large and bed comfortable. The room was clean on the surface but required a more thorough clean.Nice location next to the river Very helpful staff and easy check in

The hotel is very tired and needs a really big refurbishment. The windows in our room were single glazed and chilly and noisy from the nearby road. The room was clean but had dusty skirting board and ledges, also a few cobwebs

Lovely location, next to the weir of a river, with quiet countryside surroundings. The room was spacious and clean, with a really comfy bed. We had our evening meal in the pub, which was delicious.

I love the area ,a lovely spot( for hiking and I believe in summer time it is spectacular),River Ex next to, snow ❄️ at the last day, very comfortable beds , good food at the restaurant.

I have to talk about old windows, wet day and night during winter, and lack of ventilation. Unfortunately we visited during winter time and our radiator stopped working. After reporting an issue, we were advised someone will look into when we will be at the restaurant. Unfortunately when we were back the radiator was still off and no-one even offered any explanation or replacement heater. I have to mention the temperature outside dropped to -3
