Clean room. Good value. Parking. Plenty of choice at breakfast.
Excellent leisure facilities in a huge hotelGood value for moneyGood choices at breakfastStaff all smiling and polite
The room was cold, even with the radiator hissing all night, it didn't seem to warm up. The rooms are beginning to be dated and are a little soulless. For the price though, it was fine for a night.
Beautiful grounds, beautiful building
Inadequate disabled parking. No fridge in room.
The bed was comfortable and it was clean
I booked this property alone so I could go swimming and take my children and I have been told after we were all dressed for the pool that we can go in as children aren’t allowed in the week at all. This shouldn’t be a hotel for family’s if children can’t use the facilities, complete waste of money , I could of booked a place that was really child friendly.
The entrance and the leisure centre
No privacy curtains at the windows the first day. I had to get dressed in the dark with the black out curtains pulled as the guys in the car park were looking straight in to my bedroom. I was told by receptionist that the privacy curtains were ‘on order’ and that she couldn’t help me. I told her that I was not happy. The second day, the privacy curtains were installed. I’m guessing that they had taken delivery? The room was noisy from other guests nearby.
Staff were very nice.
Clearing up outside wasn't good. Lots of empty tables with glasses and bottles left for 2 hours plus workout clearing away
Friendly staff, nice warm pool, decent size family room. Decent place for a stopover on a long journey with space outside for kids to run around.
Bar and restaurant pretty soulless, breakfast wasn't great and coffee from the machine was dreadful. Family room overlooking bin area so quite noisy with staff moving things around in evening/morning (but there are lots of rooms so you could ask for alternatives, I was just too tired with two kids exhausted).
The picture of the main entrance is a 'red herring'. It is all that exists which may have once been a manor home. The facility is best described as a conference center / banquet hall. The staff was very arrogant at the front desk. The hostess in the restaurant was of similar ilk. Not until I used my credit card did the front desk clerk literally straighten her posture a remark, "Oh, you must have excellent credit." But then dimissively wave her hand to behind her to the left then right to give directions to the room. Following these directions led us to interrupt the receiving line of a wedding reception need us to step over the bride's train while shleping our own luggage. The key card to the door was a nightmare. Not that it wouldn't work but that significant force had to be applied at just the right moment to push past the 'sprung strikeplate' to force it open. As instructed by a passing member of the staff said, "Yeah, that one, need to bash it just so to make it open. I subsequently screwed the plate in tighter which helped. Of the four coffee machines, three were out of service and the fourth soon rang short of ingredients to to make any type of coffee. This caused a que to form and the wait staff simply said, oh you can make tea.Not a place to recommend.
The location is beautiful
Hotel rooms need to be updated and definitely the bathrooms need a update , shower head was broken ,
Even though Cranage is big, it is remarkably quiet with lots of reading corners... And an excellent sports facility.
The coffee is truly awful! I have been to the hotel several times now, and it is still poor, so it wasn't a one of. I can honestly say it is the worst coffee I have ever tasted. Breakfast without decent coffee is a disappointment!
Pleasant setting. Wonderful old building, with charming interior decor.
Some of the prices of food and drink are inflated, but, i have noticed that with other hotels in this brand, and other hotel chains of similar standard. It must be a sign of the times.
Large comfortable roomSuper pool and gymFriendly welcoming staffGood selection of food for breakfast and evening meal
The property is in a great location and the room was good.Facilities were super with a great breakfast.
I love the open spaces and trees around. Lots of quiet places in the hotel you can go and sit. Staff couldn't be more pleasant and helpful.
Could do with data sockets in the bedroom.
Comfortable double room overlooking some of the extensive grounds. I don't like showers placed over the bath but that is what most hotels seem to opt for. Breakfast was included in my room price and it certainly is worth popping down to the restaurant, but Cranage is used by companies for away-days, meetings etc and it is worth noting an advisory sign in the hallway which indicates when the restaurant is quiet and when it might be expected to be busier. That said, there was no big rush when I ate and there were plenty of options to chose from. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Reception is right in front of the main doors and at the time I was booking in so were many other people, so many that they stood in the doorway waiting until the queue moved. Booking in didn't didn't seem a very quick process. The bedroom did not have the usual information one might expect to find and instead a "Q" code had to be scanned, for example to find out breakfast times. My 'phone didn't cope with that, but, now I am home I know when breakfast was served!
Set in nice grounds. Bed was comfortable & decor was nice in room.
I think it is totally overpriced. The room was nice but nothing special for a Deluxe Double and cost £160!!. It says bathrobes & slippers are provided. They weren't. It also says upgraded toiletries. There was liquid soap, body lotion & shower gel. Surely that is standard in all rooms? There is no air conditioning in the room which is shocking in a hotel of this standard. The room was boiling which made it uncomfortable to sleep. The bathroom, although clean, is really dated and in need of modernisation. The bath is tiny. Breakfast wasn't a great experience. There was nowhere to make a brew & I had to ask for a drink. The hotel hosts conferences at the weekend so each table had 8 seats & there were no tables just for 2 people. The food was ok but at 0930 it had ran out of some essential breakfast items even though breakfast was until 1030. the lounge areas were nice but because there was a union conference on all weekend & a murder mystery weekend it didn't feel relaxing and I wasn't able to sit & enjoy the surroundings. I wouldn't return.
Decent size bedroom, breakfast is good ,
It's good enough for a one night stay , lovely main reception building but the bedroom building attached to it is like a hospital/ holiday inn . Rooms for the dogs are of a good size , nice touch with a dog bed and bowls . Thought it was scanless to charge £30 pounds extra for the dog for one nights stay
