Pros +
- Very comfortable room, good menu. Interesting village with lovely walks.
- The food at the Pointer is excellent and the staff are lovely. The room was a good size and shower was good.
- Beautiful location, perfect rustic pub. Food was great, both dinner and breakfast. The staff were really hardworking and friendly!
Cons -
- Our ground floor room (opposite pub) felt very exposed, causing us to have to draw the curtains on a sunny July afternoon. We stayed in a first floor room a few years ago and much preferred it.
- The room I was in was Dexter it was a little tired scuff marks and broken hooks which surprised me considering the price point of this room, I stay in hotels regularly.Pillows were not great.Parking hit or miss but not the fault of hotel as it's street parking.
- Coffee etc was replaced in the room, but fresh cups not provided, nor dirty ones removed. Small point however!

Lovely village / lovely pub. Pleasant rooms
Dexter was v cold and unwelcoming when we arrived . Tried to get heating on but to no avail . Then eventually heating came on and it was too hot . We booked 3 rooms - 2 were great but Dexter was a little tired with stains on carpet and on wall . Could be improved for the price . Breakfast should definitely be included in the price .
The room was warm & bathroom was stylish with a roll top bath & large shower.
Towels & bath robes which had been washed a 1000 times & no longer white nor fluffy.Only one cup was in the room for tea & coffee.Just felt it lacked attention to detail for a room that was £260 a night in a pub
Clean spacious room. Friendly staff
Room lighting was too poor to read by. Limited breakfast menu - only cooked options, no cereal, muesli or fruit etc Big heavy coffee cups which make the coffee cold within a few minutes.
Fantastic location, lovely staff and a very comfortable room and restaurant.
The breakfast was a slight disappointment - no fruit or juice included - and cooked breakfast choice not really hot on arrival. Seemed to be missing a few garnishes (seeds, rocket etc). But everything was very tasty and I think I may have just been a little unlucky.
Great choice freshly prepared good value breakfast
Would have been good to have juice and cereal on the bar area
A very cosy room with great big and compfy bed
The te and coffee selection was a little limited, and the tea spoons were dirty from the last people who stayed in the room
Nice pub and food with good atmosphere
Pub didn’t have many ales to choose from
Lovely pub in a quiet, picturesque village serving good food and run by friendly staff. Comfortable room just over the road from the pub.
Our overnight stay was spoilt by a faulty boiler causing us to wake up with no hot water. After we alerted staff the fault was quickly rectified, but we couldn't delay our departure to wait for the water to heat up and no discount was offered. The breakfast was very good but was served with toasted processed sliced bread rather than the grilled sourdough on the menu.
Wonderful bedroom. Excellent cooked breakfast
Disappointed that there was no fruit or yoghurt for breakfast.
Staff were fantastic, food was absolutely lush and room was comfortable and nice.
Comfortable and spacious
Ventilation of our room was not sufficient to keep the air temperature cool at night.
Staff are tremendous and so welcoming. Gorgeous room. Good food. Pretty location
We were over for a wedding and lots of belongings, so a wardrobe would have been useful. Bit only noticed it because we had so much. There are pegs with hangers for hanging things.
A great place to stay, does everything right without going over the top. Open friendly staff, comfortable accommodation, good food - a perfectly managed inn.
Friendly and attentive welcome.Dining/ breakfast ambiance was fantastic. Food was of a far higher standard than expected for a 'country pub'. Interesting menus and skillful cooking.Attentive but not pushy service.Delightful Room; simple well designed details.Lovely big and very comfortable bed.Great shower.Attractive and historic village setting.
Lighting in bedroom was quite dim.Long mirror positioned in the bathroom was inconvenient for dressing.
Didn’t eat breakfast
The room was great, quirky, but just check if you are tall some of the rooms are challenging for tall people
Lovely and quite , beautiful village
All good apart from the bed and pillows wasn’t comfortable.
Lovely room very comfortable Staff attentive location perfect for a relaxing break in the country
Breakfast not included and a bit pricey
