Pros +
- Good location, nice rooms, different to standard hotel rooms and had character
- Good free parking. Lovely room with excellent bathroom. Great location and helpful receptionist.
- Courtyard rooms are beautiful and amazingly done. Hotel staff go above and beyond and are so friendly. Very central and just opposite the lovely little market. Nice and quiet at night.
Cons -
- Noisy if you stay on the front. Noise from road and restaurant below
- Breakfast was not of the quality I would expect for this price and the breakfast staff were nowhere near the service standard of everybody else, somewhat surly in some cases. Room could do with a tad more storage, we were only there for one night but a longer stay would have meant a lot of clothes lying around on surfaces.
- Only a couple of niggles no fridge in the room, floorboards very loud and creaky we were in the main building above the bar which was very loud at night. If I came again we would book one of the rooms in the courtyard

Breakfast excellent.Breakfast server superbed - comfortableshower hot, good
102 - a monochrome, plain, cold looking room; it had 7 chairs, why?bath in the bedroom, well it took up some space.Dusty, dreadful. All that dry wooden furniture that has never been polishedRipped towel.plug points in the wrong place.
Perfect location, beautiful clean room, friendly staff!
Dinner in the restaurant was very nice but relatively basic ‘pub food’
Nice
Had to change rooms due to toilet leaking we're upgraded to a much nicer room
Location
Informed the staff I would not check-in until 20:30. Arrived and the room was freezing cold. I had to turn on the heat and it took an hour to warm up . Television didn’t work . No reception staff on duty at check out so couldn’t explain to them what I’d found .
Very nice and obliging staff, who changed me to a super modern room in the new annex over the courtyard. A lovely breakfast was included. I also had a tasty meal in the restaurant in the evening at a very reasonable price. There was a welcoming open fire in the Reception.
Because the main building is old and historic, there are a lot of winding stairs and corridors (not great if you're elderly!) and I suspect you would hear the people in the next-door room.
Staff were pleasant and friendly with efficient check in and check out.The property is historic and you certainly feel like you are staying in a bit of history. Heating was good and we were definitely warm.
The Bathroom was clean but could do with a deep clean to make it look fresher.
Friendly reception, great open fire in foyer, very central with parking-worth researching its location as it’s accessed from a side street!
Carpets en route to the room could do with a deep clean.
I held my 20th Civil partnership in a private room. The events manager went above and beyond(Mr.Equabar) and so hospitable/flexible when I was setting up the decor.Food was superb and very friendly efficient front of house team(Amy) and pre-event organising team(Lillian)
Cooked breakfast great. Lovely restaurant team
The Crown was a lovely building with a lot of original features. The bed was comfortable and shower facilities were good.
Walking into my room what hit me first were the large rips on the net roller curtain and it looked as old as the building, needs replacing. Maybe a reflection of how difficult Labour have made the hospitality industry but the Breakfast could be improved as bacon and sausage looked cheap, sorry.
It was centrally located, easy access to central London (by car or by rail) and easy to visit sites surrounding the area. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the property was within walking distance to several restaurants.
The entrance to the hotel is a little uneven, and there were steps and stairs throughout the property, so a challenge for people with limited mobility.
I liked the location.
The room was cold on arrival on a very cold day. The room and surrounding interior area could do with a bit of a make over, rather shabby. The window in the room didn’t shut properly so added to the coolness. The cushions in the room were ridiculous too large and little space to put them on the floor. Also very unhygienic with stains on them.
All good.
We had a dinner in the restaurant and was very disappointed with the dinner. We did mention it and to their credit they did not charge us for the meal.
Clean and comfortable. The location was exactly what I needed. Breakfast was decent too and staff were all very helpful.
The bathroom was extremely cold. Wifi was very poor so it was difficult to get any internet.
Our son and his girlfriend stayed on New Year’s Eve and said that the room in the main house was fabulous and the service from the staff exceptional- going above and beyond to make them feel valued and special.
Location
Dirty carpets & windows. A bit dowdy. Breakfast was poor.
Food was very good. Location excellent.
