We are in our mid 70’s with physical limitations. No lift and no staff readily available to assist with heavy luggage.
Nice decor, good food
Our room had only a skylight that didn’t open. Felt a bit claustrophobic
We were return visitors. This time we were walking the St Cuthberts Way and stayed here at the end of our first days walking.Nice bar, v good food. Very friendly efficient and helpful staff. Big shout out to the barman for his v accurate knowledge of local public transport. Extremely helpful.Best breakfast of the week!

Welcoming atmosphere, staff very cheerful and friendly. So welcoming of dogs, no restrictions as regards restaurant etc.
Maybe next time a room with a view, I know it's difficult as we have a dog with us and they will probably keep so many pet bedrooms.
Great staff. Beth could not have been more welcoming or kind. Ditto Ann at breakfast. Excellent dinner. Very convivial. A hub for locals. Exactly what is wanted from a coaching inn.
The hotel is badly in need of refurbishing. I sat on a threadbare banquette in the bar, covering a six inch hole in the upholstery. Carpets were showing their age, ditto seat covers in the bistrot. Wallpaper was beginning to peel in the bathroom. There were splits in the tongue and groove in my room.
Location was perfect for our travels. Room was clean and tidy. Evening meal was good. Breakfast was perfect especially the omelette filled with smoked haddock which had just been smoked the day before. Staff very friendly and welcoming.
Only one slight problem but did not stop us enjoying ourselves. Toast was not offered with breakfast and we love our Toast. Breakfast was still lovely.

The location was ideal , friendly staff , no fuss booking in enjoyed my stay
Nothing to dislike
Good location.
Booked this hotel for a reduced price of £125 for one night which, to be honest was still a bit pricey for the standard of accomodation.Staff were very pleasant but we were in room 20, and the smell of dampness in the corridor was overbearing.thankfully this was not an issue in the room, which was clean but very dated.
Staff very helpful and friendly.Cosy, clean, lovely place
Booked dinner which was excellent, breakfast choice excellent. The lounge bar for evening meal has a lovely atmosphere, the staff are very friendly and welcoming. It is always busy with locals, which is excellent.
Allocated room (Room 12) had no view other than on to a flat roof, the room was cool when we arrived and we were unable to alter the radiator in the room. The bathroom towel rail heater was excellent and helped. We chose to spend little time in our room preferring the ambiance downstairs in the public areas of the hotel. If we are to book again I would ask for an outfacing room onto the garden/car park/front of hotel. I have stayed here a couple of times before, much preferring our previous allocated rooms.
